I once saw Jackson live at a small venue. As he played piano and sang I had an overwhelming feeling that God had his hand on Jackson's shoulder. His music was so beautiful and so magnificent that it seemed no human being could produce it solely by his own efforts. Might sound crazy or extreme but it was the only explanation I could come up with.

Jackson Browne is my favorite singer-songwriter, excellent choice to spend some time on. Val McCallum is also stellar in that particular performance, as usual. Seeing the two of them live, along with Greg Leisz is a treat not to be missed. If you can get seats for their tour with James Taylor, or the upcoming Jackson Browne tour, see them!

"Doctor My Eyes" made me buy his debut album in 1972. Listening to the rest of the album over and over again was the start of almost 50 years of appreciation for his talent.

Love Jackson Browne. Late For The Sky, The Pretender, Running on Empty. Come on, such an incredible singer/songwriter/storyteller. My best friend and I met Jackson Browne at a burger/ice cream joint in the middle of nowhere, on the way home from one of his concerts. It was the last stop to grab a bite to eat before hitting the highway, and we spotted his tour bus in the parking lot! We pulled over, met him in line!! (it was late at night, not many people around) , told him we were at the show, we loved his music, we were on our way home ,saw the bus, etc. We asked if we could get an autograph, he was gracious and gave both of us an autograph! I still have it; the white notepaper has turned yellow, like an old newspaper. But the memory of meeting Jackson Browne that night will never fade. Still have the half of the original ticket stubb: JACKSON BROWNE, JULY 31, 1983. $11.50😊

Jackson was asked in an interview if he had a favorite song of his long list of beautiful music ( i added beautiful music) first he kinda shied away from answering but then he said " well, maybe Before the Deluge". Keeping in mind he wrote this in the 70's, it has always amazed me he had so much insight into the future. Thank you again Fil, It is always a pleasure to hear Jackson.

I saw Jackson last fall (along with Val and band) at a driving range in Walla Walla, Washington. Jackson commented that it had the best acoustics of any driving range he'd ever played. He was relaxed, funny, and down to earth and changed up the set list to do a couple of audience requests. His voice was strong and clear -- he's still got it!

Jackson Browne has long been one of my favorite song writers and performers for the sincerity and emotion in his songs. I saw him perform on tour a few years ago accompanied by 2 other acoustic musicians and it was remarkable his well his voice has held up over the years. He has always written songs in a key that were well suited to his voice and didn’t require him to strain it. Plus Jackson has taken care of his voice and his health as well. Congratulations to Fil for having Jackson reach out to him to acknowledge this analysis. Fil is a musician’s musician, he garners their respect.

Great analysis Fil! The breadth of your "church" in music never ceases to amaze me. As a JB fan for some years now, I only recently found out that his given name is Clyde Jackson Browne when searching for his UA-cam channel. The words in many of his songs resonate with all of us. The lines that get me are from "These Days" - "Don't confront me with my failures, I had not forgotten them". Apparently Jackson wrote that song at the tender age of 17/18 maybe! Thank you Fil. I keep waiting for him to break into the lyrics for The Load out, bc the music and and his phrasing is so similar in the 2 songs.
    He's an amazing artist

You know Fil, I watch your reaction to things that really get you and I can spot it in a heartbeat second. This is one of those that get's you. Gets me too. I might be wrong about Jackson Browne but I think he's basically a really good guy. Inside him and his songs there is no fakery, It's straight up emotion and hope. You seem like you're cut from that same cloth. Your reaction to great music gives you away. Keep it real, Fil.

If you like Jackson Browne he is doing a lot of these types of solo performances currently on his youtube channel! There is about a song every two weeks or so. Plus he and James Taylor are touring together in the USA this Fall hopefully finally with Covid almost over! Now that is a great package deal musically! Fil I think it is so cute when you smile while Val was playing, etc. Great analysis of the video. I lived in Tennessee in High School, so this was really special to me. I have loved and seen Jackson so many times! I live about 60 miles away from Telluride, COLORADO! Most beautiful place in the world & they have Bluegrass Festival 4 day in June & Blue & Brews in Fall & Jackson did their Fall concert one year! If any of you ever want to hear great music in the most beautiful little town in a glacial valley in the Colorado Rocky Mountains You have to go to Telluride!!!!!!!!!!! Just google it & you will see how beautiful it is & see how many people go to the festivals here. You can even perhaps stay at my house????? Thanks again Fil, as good as it gets as usual!

My favorite of many, many great Jackson Browne songs. It's always struck me as the anthem of our generation. In our 20's we all put on bibbed overalls and moved to the country. We chopped our own wood to heat our homes and tried to grow our own vegetables. By the time we were in our 30's and had children, we were more mainstream but still raising money for charity, protesting nuclear power, and working very hard not to make the mistakes of previous generations. Inevitably, a certain amount of discouragement and resignation did set in, but we kept trying. Today, our children, who are wonderful adults are learning about our origins with us as we see deeper and deeper into space. (Indeed, the light that's lost within us has reached the sky.) But the usefulness of that comes more and more into question as the Earth tips further and further into crisis. The planet is fighting back against its mistreatment, and I live in constant fear that my kids will see the end of the human enterprise. I hope I'm wrong, because it's sure to be ugly, but it could easily happen. JB is one of those people who has been warning and warning of this possible outcome for a long time, bless him. Is it too late to get anyone to listen??

Your thoughts seem to flow right from the song. So sensitive. And hopeful first, then diminishing hope. I can understand. My feeling---the lyric mentions the Creation, and that implies a Creator. He will intervene, as promised.

@@konstantia1607 Thank you so much for your response. There's an old joke that goes like this: A man lived in an area that was quickly flooding. A bus came through and told him to evacuate with them. He said that there was no need. God would save him. He couldn't be persuaded, so the bus left. When the water reached the 2nd floor of his house, a boat came up to his window. They yelled at him to get in the boat NOW. He said there was no need, God would save him. The boat finally left. When the man was on his roof, a helicopter came and lowered a basket. Someone yelled through a megaphone to get in the basket immediately. He waved them away. He had faith that God would save him. So he drowned. When he got to heaven, he was a little angry. "I was counting on you, God. Why didn't you save me?" God said, "I send a bus, a boat, and a helicopter. What did you want?" We had everything we needed to save the planet, and so far we haven't. I think it's up to us.

Jackson Brown is from the 1960's Woodstock Era... Charitable to a fault? First for World Peace from the Americas. Those amazing gifted musicians like Joni Mitchell and CSNY Mama Cass, all lived in the Canyon off Hollywood Blvd in the in the 1960's. His voice for peace and reason and common sense is relentlessly reminding humanity to care. Jackson Never gives up! One can always find Jackson Brown on tour.
