These are intermediate guard techniques. If you're barely getting into the game, I'd recommend not focusing on these yet, because they don't work unless you can identify their conditions to work.
This is a cool video... Good for those stuck in gold or platinum. Understanding how to do delay throw tech and varying my defensive options got me out of platinum. Now if only I could figure out how to get out of super diamond 🤦🏾♂️
Anime players got a good chuckle from this video because mix up doesn't truly exist on the same level in SFV with the slow ass overheads, you only throw and shimmy bait.
It’s tough for me to pull off delay throw, without it registering as a wakeup throw (I’ve been told it’s a scrub move). Is it better to not attempt the delay throw option until there’s a patch?
i don't know but every time i try to backdash or jump in wake, my characters doesn't move and i eat all the combo or the crush counter. exactly where i need to do the movement?, in what time exactly?.
I'm not sure if that helped me or gave me too many choices. I've been trying to get up to silver but my tap tap game needs help. I get cornned and can't keep up with trying to change it up but also have a safe Move on the counter. Its usually that 2nd level where I get beat and super punished.
With moderation, you don't want them to read your delayed backdash and eat a full combo when recovering from the backdash, sometimes it's better to just take the throw instead of taking that risk, they use everything they can depending on who they are fighting against. Delay backdash doesn't work against instant command throws though but does work against delayed command throws.
@@huevonesunltd is it not throw invincible from the first frame? I know on wake-up you have 2 frames of throw invincibility, that should be enough to backdash out of instant throw
Guys. Someone help me here. If I do the delayed tech throw. Am I right that he means, just hang back a couple of frames ? Secondly . If I tech. Does that also not mean I am throwing out a hit so I could also get blown up from the opponents meaty ?
Delay tech means that you hold back for a couple of frames to block a meaty attack before pressing throw. The opponent has to delay their attack to catch the delay tech, so it opens up more options.

Quickrise is about 5 frames faster than backrise (Can't confirm the hard numbers right now, this was just a quick google search), so any option that covers both will have a frame gap if you quickrise. Notice that even though he got hit out of the jump, his opponent's *next* attack whiffed because he was in the air, allowing the alex to whiff punish.
