1920's Cast Iron Kitchen Scale - Restoration

- Here is a new video !!
This is a vintage kitchen scale produced by Salter around 1910/20 in Great Britain.
"Salter's Family Scale N°50" Silvester's Patent - weighs up to 15 kg.
It's made of cast iron and brass.
It was in very bad shape, pretty much rusted, I thought it would be a very easy project...
I spent 3 weeks trying to face up several issues :)
By supporting the channel you help me make more of these video and find more amazing items.
I hope you'll enjoy this restoration.
Thanks a lot for watching !

Thank you ! - Навчання та стиль
As always - a masterpiece! First the scale itself and whoever built in first place, then watching your talent excel on restoring it and - I repeat myself, I know! - the filming and editing, fantastic job.
Many thanks Stefan. Always a pleasure to share it with you 🙌
I agree completely, just beautiful.
Muito lindo mesmo
Never thought that the scale would be that shiny! Good job with this restoration! I really love those camera angles! How you let us see the details, the cracks and holes and how you fix them. It made me feel involved just by watching and not just like "stay in that corner, look from there" Thank you for your hardwork 😁
Ps. Am I the only one who feel relax watching his videos? I feel ASMR tingles watching his restoration.
Hey Olivia thanks a lot for all these nice words. This is exactly what I’m trying to do in the workshop... Get the viewers involved, just like if they are with me ! 😀 I’m so glad you felt it 😌🙌🙌🙌

What you did with the face plate was unbelievable. Kudos for another great job!

This is the best use of Pokémon cards I have ever seen. My kids usually just use them to clog up the clothes washer.

Very good!
I'm from Americana SP Brasil.
Beautiful
Another fantastic restoration, just amazing to watch
Merci Lucie ! 👍
Profesjonalizm. Brawo.👌
Gosh I've got the exact same kitchen scales, and restored them too. I painted mine gloss black though. Nice video :)
Thank you !! I still have it too ;)
Beautiful job brother. Like from India.
Many thanks from France 😊
Exquisite work!
Was well worth the wait!!! I have been missing your videos. I hope all is well. Take care 😊
I am well, thank you very much ! 😊😊It took me a long time to restore this balance. It was more complicated than expected... sorry for the wait !
Beautiful, I can’t believe that’s the same dual face. Great job, love your work
Very nice! I wonder how many people would have used such a thing at home? Really like the beautiful work on the brass face. On a side note, I was making a daube provencal the other day and wished I had some chanterelles from southern France to put in it. And a nice Bandol rose' (preferably "Le Pont") to go with it. I haven't been to your homeland since 2011 and I seriously need to visit! Merci beaucoups Mr. Fabrik!
Yum yum ! I prefer to drink red wine with chanterelles but I understand you so much ! Glad that my videos make you travel to France😃😃😃 Merci beaucoup Alan ! A très bientôt !
I' ❤love analog measuring instruments.
Amazing job!!! This turned out stunningly!!!

Thanks a lot mate ! Keep up the good work 👍
That scale fought you all the way but it is absolutely beautiful now! I was surprised at the amount of porosity in the casting but after filling, sanding and powder coating the scale looks brand new. I always look forward to your restorations and thanks for sharing them.

Amazing job, subscribed. Watching these videos makes me want a shotblasting cabinet and a parts tumbler, and a bench polisher, it's all so satisfying
Thank you very much !! Glad you enjoyed 🙌
Wow, outstanding!
My one and only complaint with these videos is hearing the sandpaper grind things away and that's only because I can't stand the sound. Though it's a small price to pay to watch these great restorations. Love these.
Excellent work as always !
Thank you !
Great work restoring the scale. Wonderful to see you found a use for pokemon cards.

I love your work, simple and clear. And the most fun thing to see is that everything seems smooth and shiny as new. Excellent work, bro🍾🍻🍻❤️🔥
Glad you enjoyed it ! Thanks a lot 🙌
I love it. You are wonderful. ❤
Replacing the brass dial plate with a glass one would be cool too. Then one could see the mechanism in action.
I have to say that's a new one on me using the drill press to polishing the face!
I love this! You did an amazing job restoring it and it looks beautiful!! Great work!!
Enjoyed your video and I gave it a Thumbs Up for the support of your channel
Thank you very much for your support ! Glad you liked it !
@@TheFabrik You're very welcome!!
and they'll happy rest of the life!
hermosa restauración😍😍😍😍😍
Wonderful!!!
Wow!!!
Beautiful job, but I wondered why you were concerned about putting a bit of heat on the cast iron. Welders regularly preheat cast iron exhaust manifolds to 600 degrees F in order to weld cracks/breaks. Done it myself a time or two.
Thank you !!! The crack was already there. It’s just it was too hot in my opinion, more than 1000°C... And when the cast iron cooled down it fell apart...
Too bad you can't claim that "no Pokémon cards were damaged in the completion of this project"...lol.
😊🤣
Be happy no problem😄😄
Thanks a lot mate 😃😃😃
