Great job! I like that although you always totally strip off the old finish, these toys still have their "old" classic look when you've finished them. I guess getting the paint colours & logos correct is important. That boat motor makes a cool noise too!
Oh and the old clockwork motors were pretty quiet. Only way you knew when it had run down was when the nose of the boat dipped slightly as it lost propulsion. The one bad design was that you had to hold the propeller while winding it up… and those metal propellers got up to speed FAST. I cut the palm of my hand when trying to wind it up as high as possible. Was like shoving your hand into a mincer. That was the comet boat I’m talking about… this one was similar though and the identical yellow colour… so maybe same maker?
I am 75 years old. When my family would go on vacation in the 1950s to Ocean City, Maryland, USA, I would buy one of these to take home and play with in our bathtub. They were sold in shops along the boardwalk. I cannot remember the name of the manufacturer, but I believe they were made in Japan. Thanks for the memories.
All of these old toys were designed, and constructed without computer aided design. This is a work of a true artisan. Kudos for bringing it back to life again.
A lost art, but you have revived it . It is too bad that toys aren't made this way any more, kids today are really missing what fun these toys were, no plastic ,just craftsmanship, that gave not just hours of play but years. Thankyou.
That was great. I had a bunch of those boats as a kid spending summers at Greenwood Lake. All my little boats ended up rusting away from neglect. Underwater photography was excellent!
I’ve been watching your videos for a while I now, and this one made me smile from ear to ear at the end! It made me happy to see the boat in the pool and I felt like a kid again, enjoying the beauty of the toy. Thank you!
So nice! These old toys have so much more quality than modern ones. And after you restore them, they’re probably even better than they were when they were new. Great work!
I'm 60 now and can remember some of these baby's still new on the shelf... !!! Your Work is Fantastic !!!!!!! Really impressed by the tab replacement technique...
Merci encore. Tom (de Clessé 71)
I won one of these boats in a kids competition at Herne Bay, England, more years ago than I care to remember, you bought back happy memories, great job!
Perfect!!! Absolutely wonderful. I'm a professional model ship maker, 28 years fulltime and this is such a sweetheart of a toy boat. I build from wood, plastic and fiberglass, I must find a metal toy and give this a try. I like the playing cards as a spreader, nice. You actually made the boat better than new by simply removing the original mold seamline on the gentleman driving the boat. The choice of colors, perfect! Wonderful work Sir, thank you, what a joy. Oh, one more thing, I wonder how long the spring coil (?) has been waiting to un-whine?
Maestro restaurador. Mucha paciencia y exquisitos detalles. Saludos desde Argentina.
This came out great. Love the paint job too. You do some cool stuff. I would have loved this as a kid and would have played with it for hours. So darn cool.
Great restoration. A little tip I learned a few years back - when silver soldering, paint Tipex (Typewriter correction fluid) on the parts that you don't want solder on. It leaves a black mess but this just wipes away and there is no need for filing and grinding. This may help on your next restoration. Great video.
So satisfying to see all your skills to restore this beauty. The camera shots and close-up work is amazing and shows us such an unparalleled level of detail and intricacy. Bravo!
This little boat brings back memories of a trip the family took to W Virginia in the mid 50"s. I had developed an abscessed tooth that needed to come out and the dentist couldn't use Novocain. You can imagine how I reacted to that. The dentist refused to accept payment telling my dad to buy a toy for me so he got me one of these. I soon forgot the pain. It's a memory I'm reluctant to remember.
Fascinating video and excellent restoration work. What an amazing transition of a toy ready to be tossed out to one that could sell as new. Great job, thanks!

Thanks a lot ! Glad you enjoyed ! 😊
That old paint is probably lead based too. Not exactly child safe on a child’s toy.

@@NeoMorphUK oh please. Unless a child gnaws all that old paint off, he will be fine. Stop worrying so much.

That candle using boat is pop-pop boat. There is dozens of videos of people showing how to make one.

Looking at the quality and build I was in wow.
Plus your restoration was also amazing
I bow down to people who can still work with their hands! Unfortunately, there are fewer and fewer of you.
When they made toys who can last some decades… 😳 very nice work my friend 👍
