I think the problem with the LI boards is that they're priced similarly to the Zone Mortalis boards, but for the ZM boards the three-dimensionality is functional; you use them to lock Zone Mortalis column and wall pieces in place. Here the three-dimensionality is aesthetic; it looks nice, but a game mat would do the same job just as well, come pre-colored, and cost significantly less.
I love the paint job. Only reason I wouldn't add the black blast marks is because I would use them for other non-war games, so ignore that as you see fit. Price? OMG, that's over the top even for GW. If I can't build it, I don't need it, and I can build this easily enough. Good vid, Merry Christmas to all, see you all next year!!!
I liked the effect the final touch with the airbrush added. I think any building video you make would be great. I'd like to see how you paint those up and make them look war torn too. As for the tiles themselves I feel the price and number of them you need is too much of a barrier for entry for me. I'm just going to wait for someone to come out with a mat.
I bought three sets instead of four. I won't be playing 3k games but mostly 4x4. Even if I want to run 4x5 later, I can just have six inches of ground on each side of the tiles. The board doesn't have to be 100% city tiles. I was also limited to two per order but I placed a second order immediately for a single set. It was very odd GW limited this item and it never sold out.
The black on the road especial on the craters is fine but on the left piece where you did the 3 dods its not doning it, on some places you could have take the airbrush some more distance. but this is my idea. but nice roads
How much for 4 boxes !!!!!!!!! Thanks but no thanks. Very nice video as all your video's are so far, not your fault about the price. Merry Christmas and have a great New Year.
I like this, it's a great multi use video, for Imperialous or if you're making your own board and need to set up the "floor" so that's cool. I think the airbrush helped because the board is meant to help create a backdrop for your match or diorama so I think the scorch marks helped maybe not in a game play perspective but in a narrative one :) I also think these panels would be good for a 40k board maybe or just making dioramas build them up and creat a scene from a book Great video as always Andy
Great paintjob. For the buildings: i currently use my pipe systems from the vertigus terrain as well as the auspex shrine and some other smaller bits as terrain. Its not 100% perfect but if there is one setting with battles in an industry zone with pipes that could fit an tank inside than its warhammer :D
The painting is great! I wouldn't spend anything on these tiles. I could buy a mat, multiple themes of terrain and a starter box, for the cost of a tables worth. I paint my bases similarly to this for my Alpha legion and it's so beautiful
Great video…. Is there any value in painting the whole board doombull brown before sponging? Love your content … looking forward to more legions content … I hope you get everything you want for Christmas 🎄 merry Christmas
I would say that the reasoning behind limiting the purchase of the boards was to prevent scalpers sucking supply dry and then dumping the product on the market through E-bay at inflated prices. Would not be the first time that happened in Australia.
These tiles look nice, but between the cost, and locking yourself into doing a cityscape, I think I'll pass on them. I already have a couple of neoprene mats for Titanicus, so I'll stick with those.
Meanwhile, the tiles don't have to be the whole of your gaming board. You could have a transition from cityscape to countryside. Just use cardboard for the transition from one to the other and extending the roads.
Love your videos. Looking forward to building videos, both building and painting. IMHO you went too far, for two reasons. You used the sponge method for the majority, which is great for us non air brush owners. I think you could have done the last bit with a sponge also, but I would have only done the actual blast marks. I would imagine that you could have used an airbrush for the whole thing which would have speed up the whole process. Second, the airbrush lines takes the eye away from the beautiful tile, and just looks out of place. I'm not sure the brown cracks was the best choice. Cracks in asphalt usually look darker.
I really like about your channel that you usually dont use airbrushes - i absolutely hate these pure airbrush videos of many others as - as you say - the majority do not have these tool.
@@Helghast73 They probably make higher margins on the folding cardboard ones. They made a really garish neoprene mat that cost $75 for a 4x4 and it’s kinda bad.
@@Fortunes.Fool. It’s shocking really 😂 it can’t be that hard to churn them out with a high quality print, if they were on par with say deepcut or gamematt eu I’m sure they’d sell well given the volume of games they “support” now.

Yep pretty much.

Merry Christmas pal. And yes I agree with you on all point s
This would work well on the old 40K city board too
Very true.
Black blast spots - very nice! Black lines with airbrush - not quite sold.
Good job overall! Looking forward to the building video!
Cheers pal.
More videos on the terrain would be great. Would love to see them both - but maybe assembly first and then painting?
Sounds good.
Another vote for the building video! Assembly then painting please. Then ruins after - greedy!
Hahaha I’ll do my best!
I wonder if you could airbrush some wash or nuln oil to get a more subtle effect.
I’m sure you could. Not a bad idea.
I want to see both videos for the buildings. Either one can come first
Haha fair
I would love to see both of the building videos.
My vote is a assembly video option first .
Good to know.
Looks really good but maybe adding a bit or colour with lane marks and pedestrian crossings would make it even better. Just and idea.
Your not wrong at all.

Same as myself pal.
The painting looks great! I like the airbrushed black too. I am looking forward to the buildings next. Thanks for sharing this.
Anytime pal
Interesting techniques. I like the use of the sponge. I’m going to use an oil wash on mine to really dirty the board up.
Ye I’m just not comfortable with oil washes yet. I need to learn that in the new year.

No your rite for sure. After I added those bits I regretted it immediately

Ye not happy about it myself.
Worth noting that TTCombat make city tiles out of mdf, look ok on the site and waaaay cheaper. Buildings too.
May be worth a look👍
Oh really? Will definitely check that out, I like them!
you drop it we'll watch it
Far to kind.
Happy Birthday 😊

Chers pal. And yes all good uses.
I was super excited for these…until I saw the price. Woooooofffffffd
Yup I know
I believe that I’ll skip the board tiles and buy some floor tiles for a couple dollars and add some texture. But you did a great job painting it.
Not a bad shout.
Great paintjob.

Sounds like it will do the trick.
Really like the scheme would love to see the full board
One day pal.
Would like to see some different builds for the terrain before a painting video
Ye I think that’s the one most people want.
The painting is great!
I wouldn't spend anything on these tiles. I could buy a mat, multiple themes of terrain and a starter box, for the cost of a tables worth.

Pretty much my feeling on it as well.

Yes that could add a nice extra time to the board.
I would say that the reasoning behind limiting the purchase of the boards was to prevent scalpers sucking supply dry and then dumping the product on the market through E-bay at inflated prices. Would not be the first time that happened in Australia.
Yeah of course, just a weird thing when you need a set of them!
Happy birthday pal!

Looks grand!
Cheers.
well done mate

Ye it’s a funny one.
Tt combat sell an entire gaming table 5x4 for £150
How can you argue with that. Cheeper then two tile boxes lol.
@@MediocreHobbies I'm ording one now, I hadn't realised you needed several boxes of tiles just to make a board
Double Yellow Lines
Oh for sure.

Sounds like a $3000 investment for this game. Army, buildings & board.
I don’t really know if anyone bothered with the tiles 😄

Ye I’m trying to make it as accessible as possible for people to start enjoy and improve there painting. No need for all
That fancy stuff.
we used to play epic on a 6x4 anyway but this whole release is too dear
It’s an expensive game for sure.
They are waaaaay too expensive.
Yeah it’s hard to argue with that!
Sadly the tiles are not worth it imo, get a gaming matt and spend what’s saved on buildings 😂
My GW won’t allow mats, even the ones used at Warhammer World. I got the awful 4x4 mat they made and I’m going to spray it LOL
Agreed. That’s my thoughts I think.
@@Fortunes.Fool. I don’t know why GW don’t make mouse matt material battles Matt’s it’s madness.
