    First, I pray your wife gets well quickly and completely. Second, it was interesting to see part of your personal collection. I, too, have a great interest in late 1800's/first half of the 1900's firearms. Thanks.

    A Mosin Nagant 91/30 was also my first firearm purchase. It came with matching serial numbers from Russia in perfect condition, complete with the communist hammer and sickle, for $90.00 bucks about 10 years ago.

    I have an FG42 Type II that I bought from SMG in 2016. Love that rifle! Also a GREAT investment opportunity! (When was the last time you took out your stocks & bonds and played with them! LOL)
    Like you, I have many of the weapons from WWII that you also have including the Mosin and the Japanese Type 99 Paratroop, Infantry, and a "Last Ditch" examples.
    Regarding the history behind the FG42 are some interesting facts you will find in "Death From Above":
    1. German Paratroops (Fallschirmjäger) were part of the German Air Force (Luftwaffe), not the German Army (Wehrmacht).
    2. Their K98s were also in drop containers along with the MGs and ammo. This led to the disaster that occurred when they were the first units to land in Crete. It was a slaughter. The troops landed away from their weapons containers and only had pistols and grenades. They were killed by not only the British defenders, but the locals using farm implements killed many.
    3. Hitler swore to never use airborne troops dropped from the air from then on. However, glider borne Fallschirmjäger were used in the famous rescue of Mussolini AND they were dropped in small numbers around Bastogne during the Battle of the Bulge (but had little effect).
    4. FG42s can be seen in photos from the Mussolini Rescue, the Battle for Monte Casino, and reportedly around Bastogne (I haven't seen the Bastogne photos, but there is a German news reel from Bastogne that clearly shows a German soldier running down the side of a road, carrying an STG44!)
    Sure would like to hear your take on the Hill & Mac debacle concerning the STG44. I paid in full and waited two+ years before requesting and (surprisingly) receiving a full refund.

    Thanks, love the video! The HK Design, have not really seen much on it, when I was in Germany in the late 90’s I took part in the German Reservists program, was much like our CMP program other than you shot at active military bases with their firearms and the Army supplied the ammo, shot the G3, and MG-3 often. At the shop one of our customers worked with HK so have got to see the G11 ammo strips, never got to shoot one. I do have a few Vorer case less rounds in my ammo collection. For a while I owned a Daisy VL I bought from him that came from HK as they were looking into it as a basis for the case-less rounds.my Dad was a Cinema Manager so have seen all the Clint Eastwood films, and my uncle had the whole western through Dirty Harry gun collection back in the late 70’s. Like the SSA, had to go with Uberti as Colt as out of my price range for the amount of shooting I do now days. The gun shop had Mosin-Nagant rifles made by Remington and Westinghouse from the old Zar contract, and I had for a while a nam sniper that was almost factory new and was a super shooter.

    Below $100 for each mosin, i honestly probably would’ve bought both a round and a hex receiver. These rifles get a lot of hate, but I still would like to get one sometime, although now I’m a little nervous for ammo availability as it would be a shooter, not just a spot occupier in the safe

    • @raider762
      @raider762 3 роки тому

      Ammo for Mosins is available even with the threat of a Russian ammo ban. Sellior and Bellot, and PPU load for 7.62X54R. And so does winchester. The russian stuff is still available at the moment. Sure its not as cheap as it used to be, it is available now.

    • @junkyardwillie8320

      @@raider762 good to know. A Mosin hasn’t really been on my purchase radar lately, hadn’t thought about one in a while until I watched this video, but you hear so many people bitch and moan about how scarce and expensive ammunition is that they never talk about what is available and what can be had for a reasonable price, At least by today’s standards, not those of 15 years ago. I haven’t tried to look at what ammunition is in stock, but it’s nice to know there’s still some food floating around for these rifles. Makes me think about possibly getting one in the near future

    After the P-64 in Poland they adopted the P-83 Wanad in the 9x18 Mak. It held 8 rds in the magazine and was put into service in 1983. The design was to solve the problems with the P-64, no slide release, horrible double action trigger, expense of manufacture, etc. Then the Wist came along when Poland joined NATO.

    Someone else may have (hopefully) chimed in on this, but M91/30s ceased production in 1944, possibly 1945. The sniper variants continued a bit longer - I have an ex-sniper with laminate stock dated 1947. The Soviets went back through and redated several hundred with the latest date being around 1952 IIRC...nothing produced as late as 1973.
    The Finns were still producing (assembling) M39 rifles and dating the barrel shank as late as 1970. They also produced some "no date" barrels, likely produced in '44 or '45 to be in compli a's once with the requirements of the Lapland War treaty.

    Do you know… the R&D time to recreate a replica FG42 takes twice as long as the original FG42 by the original Germans. The 2 iconic particular German guns, the FG42 and the MP44 or Sturmgewehr are the hardest to make replicas of and it’s all because the original technical blueprints for those guns are virtually gone, according to Ian from Forgotten Weapons, on the video of why guns take years to develop.

    • @MarksmanTV
      @MarksmanTV  3 роки тому +6

      You can buy things for yourself, but you do need to charge yourself sales tax when you process the sale. As a business, you will be tax exempt when you order from your suppliers (as it is assumed that the customer will pay the sales tax when the sale is complete). If you, yourself, are the end customer, then you have to charge yourself sales tax. This is not an ATF requirement. Other than that, you can buy what you want for yourself (but you do have to do a background check on yourself when you take the firearm out of your store inventory lol).
