Love to hear the camera men and studio guys laughing. I used to love this programme. The voice of Peter Brackley. That man was so under rated. Hilarious.
The brilliant Peter Brackley. More Greavsie than Greavsie. I can watch this time after time & it's STILL laugh out loud funny. The days when matches were played sometimes on mud baths of pitches & players came off absolutely covered in mud. Not like today's overpaid, molly coddled nancy boys playing on pristine grass
Your lovely comment about Peter made me look him up and I saw he died in 2018 aged 67 which is my age so I looked up his life and saw he lived for 24,595 days and only 10 days ago that was EXACTLY how many days I have lived for since 1954 which is a really sobering thought.;;;
Peter Brackley was the voice of the Cup Final for all English speaking countries around the world from 1992 to 2008. Since then it's been Martin Tyler (except 2011 - Guy Mowbray). Tyler will cover 2024 for the world, too.

Him, along with Jimmy Hill, Brian Moore, Des Lynam, Tony Gubba, David Coleman, Barry Davies etc. you just *don't* get football commentators like those today. Just out-of-depth ex-players voicing their own opinions/club bias.
We lost Saint and Greavsie in the same year (RIP) Great loss. Such great characters - complimented each other on their show so well. Best football show ever.... Nothing nowadays touches it.
Absolute golden era of sports television programmes. It’ll never be as good as this again. Glad I was around to see it and have the cherished memories.
Lunch time entertainment, that, and a Match magazine on Saturday morning. Coupled with playing footy with your mates on the same muddy afternoon before coming home getting told off for getting dirty. I know the world evolves but I'm sure a tad more respect to our nostalgia my open some eyes that life can sometimes bring a cheeky smile your face.
I remember this one , I was in absolute fits with my jaw aching one of the funniest things I’ve seen and the Ron Atkinson joke was legendary and how he celebrated his goals ... awesome. This one show was the talk of the pub amongst my mates . The show should be broadcast on Saturday as tribute to the Saint .Every Saturday it was a must watch for all football fans . RIP Saint , it’s what you truly are . Gunners fan
The pair are legends! To be honest, when I heard he'd passed, I actually smiled because I immediately remembered Saint and Greavsie ... Watching football and the pair cracking jokes on a tiny black and white TV was an essential part of a Saturday spent in front of the TV.
Long before soccer am was on the scene. Comedy gold this clip. Saturday lunch times were never the same after this show finished. Two absolute legends on and off the pitch.
I can't remember when I stopped watching football. Nowadays, I can't even be bothered to watch an England game. Somewhere along the way, it stopped being fun. Watching these old clips, reminds me of when it really was fun.
.saint and greavsie was the best saturday lunchtime footy show there has ever been.informative funny and entertaining.ive just watched football focus on bbc .it was boring and about as funny as toothache .rip saint .
No they are not worried at all about offending the people they have always targeted, bigots, racists and the disgusting Tory scum. Don’t worry it will be game on as before.
After hearing the really sad news about Greavsie I was drawn to this. Would never be shown today and the production staff cracking up just made it funnier. RIP Jimmy
I remember watching that at the time as a kid (Saint and Greavsey was essential viewing for young football fans) and was in hysterics. Great to see it again.. Thanks so much for uploading. And Saint, rest in peace, thank you!
This episode was hilarious. So glad it is out on UA-cam. I'm pretty sure a large proportion of Greavsie's comments would not get past the politically correct sensors today, and Nicola Sturgeon would be suing ITV from up in "chilly jocko land".
Compare and contrast this brilliant Football programme with the woke mess that is now Football Focus, ramming issues and agendas down the viewers throats as we switch off in droves...
I just play the old PES 6 again and heard Brackley's voice commenting bring back sweet memories playing the game with my friends many years ago. I decided to google to see how he's doing these days. So sad to know he passed away. 😭 Thank you, Peter. R.I.P 🙏
I watched this when it was first shown, on the Saturday morning after a drunken office Christmas party the night before. The "few lagers and a couple of vodkas" line still destroys me to this day every time I hear it. Greavsie actually was very ill at the time and in fact he missed the following Saturday's programme as well - unfortunately on that occasion Ian St John did the show by himself.
Wonderful! Jimmy not too well these days, but great memories of his days alongside 'saint'. When had programmes like 'World of Sport' & 'Grandstand'. Programmes with 'live' sport of all types, not just football.
The joke about the Sheffield clubs was great. Sheff Utd had failed to win in their first 16 matches in the first division (4 draws), and were being looked at as the worst team ever. Incredibly, they went on to stay up comfortably that season - were probably safe by early April
I am Scottish through and through, however, I will have to confess now. I was a closet Jimmy Greaves fan when I was a boy. RIP Jimmy the greatest centre forward ever.
RIP Jimmy much missed along with Ian as is World Of Sport & Grandstand. Saint & Greavsie was the highlight a must watch before you set off to the match, far superior to the over analysis of today into whether a toe is offside. A lesson in not to take yourselves too seriously but still do your jobs in the utmost professional manner.
I had no idea he'd recently passed, so I'm sad to hear that. I remember watching Saints and Greavsie at the weekends when I was a kid. I seem to mostly remember them laughing and mucking up during their live shows, but I expect if I was to watch one of their shows back now I'd realise that they were actually pretty good broadcasters. I'm suprised we lost Saints first in the end, as Greavsie has been in very poor health for years now sadly.
The good old days saint n greavsie few beers match good old sing song on the terraces no stupid do godess like stewards running towards the crowd when a goal was scored back to the pub few more great craic say what you like without being wary of it the world has changed people need to lighten up
