Stock exhaust is extremely quiet... and frankly I prefer it that way.
The Duel exhaust is fake anyways... They all use a Y pipe. and more often than not... even the noisy aftermarket ones... are still Y pipe configured. So... no real benefit other than alerting every cop wihin earshot, "Hey.. here I am... give me a ticket."

I live in Canada and own a 2015 Ram 1500. It's been a solid truck. Yes the mileage could be better, but alot of smaller SUV's and trucks with smaller turbo motors get the same mileage, worse when towing or hauling. You're right, as an all around vehicle they do everything well. Plus I deal with snow, and they do very well in the snow, they tow well, haul well and they go down the highway nicely too.
I'd bet alot of those Landcruisers and Patrols are pretty thirsty too.

They are horribly thirsty. A 4Runner with the 4.0L V6 is rated at 13.8 l/100 km while a RAM 1500 5.7L with eTorque is rated at 12.4 l/100 km. Toyota is really bad at fuel efficiency.

From your nearby American neighbor in MN, same. If you want a vehicle that can do everything, at the price of mpg, 1500 trucks are where it’s at. I got so sick of the potholes and I’ve this year, I’m tempted to finally pick one up, even though I’m typically a sports car enthusiast.

Having owned a few 'typical' dual cab utes, and several V8's. The idea of combining the two makes so much sense. Its actually always bugged me that here in Australia we never combined Utes, V8's and 4X4 into a singular package. Those are three things Aussies love in their cars and yet Ford or Holden never bothered to produce anything like this. Sure they're big, living in the City in Melbourne, Sydney, etc would be a nightmare, you'd need a little car to do the shop run. But its a ute with a big powerful V8, comfort, presence. These tiny little 4cyl diesels we drive here seem so pitiful next to a Hemi Ram or the LS3 powered Silverado's. A V8 instantly makes driving more enjoyable.

Ford and Holden actually brought out a few wagon and utes in 1970's but they where halted by tougher ADR compliance needed for the extra stresses from the rigorous demands of the 4x4. It was the Army that requested an alternative to the slow and unreliable Defender and thus so many Defenders had Holden red motor conversion by the public. You are correct though, we made plenty of utilities and it was absolutely amazing where an old Kingswood or Falcon could get you, esp with upgraded suspension. We actually had good engineers and manufacturing in those days! All we truly needed was our own dedicated 4WD wagon and pickup and our automotive industry would have been so much stronger. The truth is that both Ford and GM kept holding the Govt to ransom for the bailout funding without investing it back into the industry as they had another agenda at play which we are now seeing today with the influx of imported US vehicles. Destroy our own industry so we have to support theirs.

First off I just found your channel, love it.
I own a 2015 Ram 1500 Laramie trim (original owner also). Living in Florida we have to drive everywhere and I have 177m/285k on it. It's been a fantastic truck. I've done 12-hour drives in it both towing and not. It is extremely comfortable on the long drive. Yes, it drinks fuel with a large straw but it's no surprise and you do get used to the size fairly quick. Perhaps the first few time parking i peaked over the dash but once you know your truck you know it. I can park with inches to spare without peaking.
As far as the issues you mentioned, leaks, etc I've never had them most of them. The exhaust stud bolts broke I did have to happen twice. First covered under warranty they break around 70M/112k. If you replace them with better non-OEM studs they shouldn't break again. however, Ram replaces it with the same junk so when it happens again you are well outside of warranty. it is common to have the "third" brake light being the source of the leak. Living in Florida mine gets tons of rain and is not kept in a garage I've been lucky.
I definitely recommend the crew cab option, the legroom issues disappear in the back seat with it. I can have my seat fully back and I can have my 6-foot-plus friends in the back with no issues. The trim level in the video is basically the work level trim, the higher trim options really make the trunk. I had a buddy in town a few months ago and he rented a Ram and he didn't like it. Then he got in mine and loved it.
I'm originally from Bermuda and I think there is one Ram on the island used as a work truck when it comes around the corner it's almost like it takes up both lanes so I do get that size feeling a bit much when roads and car parks are designed for smaller vehicles.
My total cost to date maintenance-wise with "non-wear items" has been about 1800usd which isn't bad considering it will be 8 years old in 2 weeks. It does have 16 spark plugs which can run about 250-280USD to change. They are rated to last about 100M/160K

The 5th gen RAM series trucks really raised the bar for pickup trucks. I wouldn't recommend them as a daily driver for most people, but if you work in a trade, or need to haul or tow anything, they're amazing.
The only problem that I can see with your model is that the steering wheel is in the wrong side. 😂
Btw, if you want to prevent what's known as the *_"HEMI tick,"_* do your oil changes regularly; and use the best oil and filter that you can afford. I use Royal Purple oil and oil filters; and with 224K km on it, the engine runs like new.

Last week I bought my first Ram truck and I love it so far. I been wanting a regular cab with an 8 foot bed. Far as I found Ram is the only one still doing those. Was afraid there wouldn't be enough leg room for someone who is over six feet tall and mostly legs but I am drowning in room.

I wish we could get single or spacecab RAM's from the dealer in Australia. I don't need all the seats in the back, I'd rather the tray volume. Minimum 8ft long is the go to carry a piece of 8'x4' plywood (or other similar sized material). I reckon the economy would be better in a single cab as well due to less weight.

I have a 2014 Ram 1500 Bighorn 4x4 with the 5.7l engine I bought used in 2016. Last week I broke 110,000 miles (160,000km) Overall it has been the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned. I religiously change the oil every 5000 miles with Pennzoil Platinum Full Synthetic 5/30 5qts and the remainder with 5/20 for a little bit thicker better protecting oil coating. It may reduce my mileage fractionally but I would rather longevity. I have never had the Hemi tick. Took it on a 4500mile trip and it averaged 21.5mpg with a fully loaded bed from NJ to the Rocky Mountains of Colorado and back with speed limits up to 85mph! This far exceeded my expectations! I did have an issue when i first got it with my transmission down shifting from highway speeds and throwing the passengers forward. After complaining to Ram directly they offered to warranty the transmission to 100,000 miles regardless of how old it was. After the 3rd time the dealership flashed the computer it fixed the downshifting issue. The only other issue was more due to the environment I live in with saltwater tidal flooding several times a month and regularly getting salt water on the frame. It rusted out a connection for one of the straps to my gas tank. It was very small. The repair consisted of cutting out and sandblasting and replacing a piece playing card piece of steel and undercoating the area again. Otherwise it has been nothing but normal maintenance of oil changes, brakes, tires, air filter and spark plugs. It looks and drives as good today as a daily driver that is not a garage queen can.

I've ran a 2017 Ram 1500 Outdoorsman since it was new, I work as a forest ranger and my truck pulls trailers loaded with all terrain vehicles, boats regularly, hauling people and equipment for forest fire suppression, and frequently used to access remote locations. It has seen everything from massive forest fires to widespread flooding events, to major hurricanes. She just keeps going, the only issues I've had have been manifold bolts, and the stub shaft in the front differential stripped (common issue, they make rubber boots to protect them, $500CAD to fix). Other than that it's been a fantastic truck. I have 208 000 km on it currently. A friend of mine has a 2016 Ram 1500 with 347 000km, and he's had good luck with it, eventually his needed ball joints and CV axles. I tow a 3.3 tonne boat with a 200 series that is tuned with 1000Nm and average 17 L/100 km when towing. Diesel in Victoria is currently 60 cents per litre dearer then petrol. NEVER in my life did I think petrol engines would be better for towing than diesel. Given the price of fuel, suddenly the high output V8 petrol donks are worth a look. However, petrol engines really never come close to Diesel engine torque outputs.
I wouldn’t buy a RAM but, if Toyoata released the Tundra in Australia, I’d seriously look at one over a 300 series.

That's nearly A THIRD more. That's massive.
It's also not entirely the point of my comment. Australia doesn't get the GOOD versions. We literally get the same selection of models as countries like Thailand. Look for yourself. Manufacturers send their old models to countries like AUS because even though the car isn't popular anymore in primary markets, the tooling is still good, and we have lower economy and safety standards so they can still sell them here.

Now take it for a typical RAM driver inner city trip. Go to local primary school at pick up time in an inner city suburb and try and take out some primary school kids cos you can't see in front of the grill. Drive down some inner city lanes and get stuck, try and park in an inner city multi storey car park. Most RAM drivers park over 4 spots.

Obviously the more coin spent equates to a better ride.

My work truck is a 2018 ram 2500 gas 6.4 v8 and some days I drive the 2018 Ram 3500 diesel. Recently we had starting issues with the 2500 truck. Turns out the fuse box was bad. The truck only has 39k miles. Matter a fact this is the third 2500 in our shop that had the same issue. This isn’t the only issue we have had with our trucks. They always having electrical issue. Another issue we have, 2 brand new ram 4500 with less than 10k Miles and we gotta bring it in for a recall apparently they both need a whole new engine. It’s ridiculous.
But overall it gets the job done, it has plenty of power to tow. I do wish the cab was slightly bigger like ford but there is enough room to fit 4 people.
Every other trucks have their issue. I have experienced with the ford work trucks. We used them in the military. Very practical for the type of work we did.
Some people love ram, some people Ford and some people love chevy. Too each their own. At the end of the day I just want a work truck that is spacious, practical and very reliable.

    Fuel Consumption is a ???
But, when you start comparing the RAM 1500 to real life figures of such vehicles as a
    2022-23 Ford Ranger / Raptor.
The RAM isn't as bad as some might think.
My main ? I was thinking about when deciding to update to a RAM 1500 Express or Warlock is ?
    Parking it ???
I could see myself not bothering trying to find a car park anywhere near a main road / street.
Not a total deal breaker. But, it did make me start to think more ??
Is it the right vehicle / truck for for me ??
What I LOVE about the RAM 1500.
Interior SPACE, absolutely Love the Space inside, even IF it shows on the outside when driving along small country roads.
A few other small things that steered me away from looking at the RAM 1500 ??
Small things like the lack of ????
For the current asking price I was expecting More ??
NO Audio Controls on the Steering Wheel ( the volume control is on the passenger side )
NO Remote Mirrors ( it's 2022 /23 should be pretty much standard )
    Plastic Steering Wheel ??? ( Really ?????? at near $100k )
Headlights Need to be upgraded ( Not a big deal, But the importer could have fixed this )
    Hand Brake / FOOT Brake ??? ( on a 1976 Holden Hatchback Torana, maybe ?? )
    Other than these few things.
    I LOVE the RAM 1500.
    But, I'm not buying one.

The Ford F150 is a better full size truck. More engine options, bulletproof reliability, better fuel efficiency, more conservative looks and better handling because of the lower center of gravity due to the aluminum body which doesn't rust. Other than issues with parking and narrow roads and other people's opinions of what you drive, I've never understood the Aussie's disdain for full size American trucks. With the long wheelbase, long suspension travel, ample power and spacious interiors, Full size trucks are ideal cruisers. Maybe We just do more highway driving and have more space to drive and park them in the US.

Saw one comfortably parked heaps of room at the underground parking in pacific fair shopping centre on the Gold Coast. No different to a 200 series cruiser. So much for the whole cant park them argument. In the states the 1500 is a soccer mums car, unfortunately Australia has been bred to believe the so called utes we have are the ducks guts when they aren’t. As for variants , Australia is one of the very few right hand drive countries, with the majority of countries being left hand drive, hence why we don’t get the cheap prices and vehicle choice like the United States, leaving us with one company , Walkinshaw, as the importer of Ram, Silverado, and apparently soon the tundra. Let’s be honest we are robbed blind on vehicles.

    • @rich7447
      @rich7447 Рік тому

The GVM rating cannot be over 8,500 lbs since it is a 1500/150 (class 2a truck). The half tons are normally closer to 7,500 lb GVWR. Your GVWR/GVM is related to tow capacity via payload since the hitch weight of the trailer is carried by the tow vehicle.
The truck in the video (DT quad cab 6'4" box) has a GVWR of 7,100 lbs and a payload of 1,860 lbs. With 3.92 final drive ratio it is rated for a trailer up to 11,320 lbs (conventional tow). Tongue weight on the max. trailer is going to be about 1,130 to 1,200 lbs (10%+/-) leaving you with somewhere between 660 and 730 lbs of payload. Account for the 26 gallons of fuel at 6 lbs/gallon (156 lbs) and you are down to between 510 and 580 lbs. Then you have to factor in all the options that added weight to the truck at the factory.
This is only a light trailer as well and is why most people that tow very much in North America don't go for a half ton.
The numbers above are from here: www.ramtrucks.com/BodyBuilder/service/Image?imageId=MtQrP%2FFqLY5r%2Fest8MtGjGgHzAHGUTU0WB3rWuqSY7YmQ2vEhuBWBONjPJTiLoD5%0A
