Wow, I seriously cannot stop watching the ending. It's just so magnificent, so grandiose... The acoustics are great. I really love the sound of the reverb. Speaking of which, this is the very first time I've seen you use the half-lid on the Steinway. Do you like the sound of it for this particular transcription?
I used half-lid or else the reverb would be too intense (see my nagi no asukara piano cover, it was recorded in the same room). There are two main recording halls in my conservatory, but unfortunately, the "Kammermusiksaal", with the steinway D piano, is completely booked in 99% of the time, (I recorded "faraway - Little busters OST" for example in that hall). This hall is called "Kapitelsal" and it's usually vacant in the weekends, I think I'll stick with this room, I also grew to like the reverb, lol.
***** I love the acoustics of this room I don't recall listening to the original, but I'm very familiar with nagi's voice.. and man can you ever hear her voice in your arrangement. It's pretty amazing that you can capture her vocal essence in your piano score.
This song was the one of the hardest 10 songs in Animenz's anime arrangement 10. Owari no sekai kara Because of the insane last part 9. Kimi no shiranai monogatari 1. Cross Jumping 2. Great list! But I think there's a need to update since there's GC Departure now. I personally find the jazz like tempo hard to especially with the left hand slightly multitasking and some huge octaves too
I thought animenz said that this was his list of the most difficult pieces (copy-pasted from "we are" description) 1. Unravel (Tokyo Ghoul OP) 2. My Dearest (Guilty Crown OP1) 3. Sayonara Memories (Supercell/Yanagi Nagi) 4. Kuusou Mesorogiwi (Mirai Nikki OP1) 5. Snow Halation (Love Live! OST) 6. Extra Magic Hour (Amagi Brilliant Park OP) 7. Guren no Yumiya (Shingeki no Kyojin OP1) 8. Again (Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood OP1) 9. We Are! (One Piece OP1) 10. This Game (No Game No Life OP)
Animenz, I know this is just one comment among trillions of others, but I'm writing this to show my gratitude towards you. Before I watched your videos, I was just your average pianist, who focussed on just pleasing others with his classical pieces. Until, I came across your channel, entirely on accident. Best accident ever. From then on, I also started trying to play anime OP and ED on the piano, ignoring what everyone else said about nothing in it being 'actual music'. And now, I can't be happier. So thanks. Thanks for all the inspiration you've given, not just to me, but to so many other pianists. You will always have a fan here. I'm waiting to see you play live in SG in a week. Hopefully I can see how awesome you are in person. Thanks.
+Thatoneanimepianist I always think it's silly that this isn't considered real music. It's better in a certain way, because you have an emotional connection with it and it then can give you more emotion that a perfectly composed lovely piece of music that you have to personal attatchment to.
+Cuthalion how is this not music? It is just music from a different country. (That is if you don't live in Japan) I see people try to make piano compositions of American pop artists all the time. Animenz is so much better. The piano is an incredible instrument. I have seen so many people state that they don't even watch anime and the watch his videos because they are that good. This is definitely music. Sorry if I started ranting :)
When Animenz transcribed this song I imagine he went: "Oh, f....k I made it too easy, someone else might be able to play it, better make the ending _a little bit_ harder". @4:30 is just insane. Utterly insane. :D
This is probably my most loved transcription of yours. I have probably listened to this song at least 3 times everyday for the past month. IM ADDICTED TO THIS SONG!!!
It's been almost a decade since you've uploaded this masterpiece. I've watched this more than hundred times and still enjoyable. Thank you very much, sincerely. I'm wating for your concert in Japan again. Good luck.
Your piano has that kind of echo-ey sound and it's very clear with that deep bass sound it's awesome especially in the chorus it's like I am drowning in an ocean lol. It's sounds more awesome with these added qualities to the piano.
I came back to hear this song after the disappearance of Jun Maeda,I do hope he's doing all right. His songs and works have inspired me in various ways,The rhythms and words he wrote made way to my heart and left a unremovable scar.Animenz's piano cover of this song always makes my mind go nostalgia and I can never forget the playings he did.
You should watch the "Sequel" of that song that Jun Maeda himself wrote for it's album, the Sequel's title is "Hero no Jouken" it consist of all the endings for some of the songs in the album, of how they ended up...Some got a happy ending, some open ending, some sad ending do check it out.
When your crush told you He like older woman. And you go back to the past so you can become the older woman He'd like. Irronically, He dont remember you or dont know who you are.

One of my favorites songs of Yagi Yanagi, and Jun Maeda got me on the feels train again... And now, you are bringing back those wonderful memories, thank you so much!
The ending sounded like something from a classical piece. Edit: Oh, I see. Just read the description. I thought it sounded something like Chopin or Liszt. I love it when you combine passages from classical pieces into your transcriptions! Great work!
You don't know how excited I was to see this uploaded! I love this song so much! 3:50 to the end was just brilliant! The Chopin style at the end was incredible! The classical runs were insane! This is one piece I will have to learn before I die. I'm so motivated to play right now!!!! Keep up the great work Animenz! Looking forward to more over-the-top arrangements like this!
I noticed that whenever I watch some of his videos after i feel like my piano skills have decreased,, i seem to get a lot more satisfaction from my own piano playing. The inspiration from these videos just keeps reminding me that I want to do something like this for myself.
You are such an inspiration and I have only one word to describe your piano transcriptions : Beautiful. Thank you for putting in so much hard work in for all your fans. Thanks also for making my day every time you upload a new video. :)
Oh my goodness. This is one of the most amazing pieces I have ever heard. There was just so much passion and flare throughout. And the Chopin-styled ending... Brought me to tears. I hope that you carry on writing piano music and performing because the world is a better place with someone like you in it. I don't comment a lot but this was definitely worth my time. Thank you.
This is one of those songs that impress me just by the skill and musicianship put into one piece, without me not knowing where the song even came from. Keep up your great work.
Well either.. it just all of a sudden got incredibly cold in my room or.. that ending made me get goosebumps all over my body :) Great job man, this is incredible. When I first heard this song Yanagi Nagi's voice made me cry, now your genius forced out the tears.. STOP THAT, I'M A MAN !! :b
The scales ranged from 0:46 to 0:58 were absolutely beautiful... The whole transcription is so amazing; all your transcriptions inspire me and motivate me to practice more. Although I prefer the sound of the original ending of Owari no Sekai Kara, your alternation is so magnificent, and so breath-taking!
I have to say you are very talented and I love listening to all your piano covers. For someone who has played piano for many years I cannot even do what you do. Please continue with these wonderful transcriptions!!!
Holy shit. I know Joy and I got a preview of this arrangement during our stay at your place, but dayum, your performing skills never fail to impress me :3 It's great to see you master this arrangement, since I know how frustrated you were getting with it :D Great job bro! Hope to meet you again sometime in the future! ^^
This song will never cease to amaze me! A month later and here I am still replaying this over and over. That ending though! I can't believe this doesn't have more views
1st time hearing it with laptop speakers : " Wow that's cool" 2nd time with desktop speakers : "WTF IT's SO BEAUTIFUL 3rd time with good headphone : "..." I was crying.
This song at the time, along with muteki no soilder and killer song were among the best random youtube discoveries ever (and probably still are). This transcription is fantastic! Animenzzz we might have been waiting months, highly anticipating this recording (I know I was) but heck it was worth every second. Thank you so much for sticking with it and finishing it! You had a hard time with it and could have quit entirely but you kept with it and from the bottom of my heart, thank you.
HUGE APPLAUSE!!!!! bravo bravo!! I really love EVERYTHING about this. The fact that this is a Nagi Yanagi song (my favorite singer :D), and that it was written by Jun Maeda really makes this song awesome. I can't believe its been over 2 and a half years since this was posted! Feels like yesterday. I had been waiting and waiting for this cover and it certainly did not disappoint. The last part, created by animenz, is truly a masterpiece... it's been a long time i've never felt so much goosebumps like that... the ending at 4:46 is even better : it's GOD-MODE. Thanks Animenz for that !
+Fengoku LOll I got really busy just when I was about to upload. I started practicing again few weeks ago. I forgot a lot and im kindda sick of practicing this so I'm just gonna upload it without rly polishing. within two weeks for realzies dis tim

Man your life must be great to able to perceive something like this. I wonder if I'll be capable at learning this when I'm in my 50s XD. You're amazing, animenz.
10 years and still the most majestic ending I've ever seen on an anime piano cover.
Same man this entire piece is so underrated.

Richard Yuan its chopin and liszt... omg what a fast octave, jump, running note...
The ending run is quite similar to the ending of Chopin's 3rd Piano sonata. It is genius how he incorporates that into this arrangment!

Es ist schon fast lächerlich wie unglaublich fantastisch du bist! :D
OH MY GOODNESS, BLESS THIS, I'VE BEEN WANTING THIS FOR YEARS.

The ending...
For some reason the ending reminds me of Your Lie In April in some way. Not sure what it is but it just does...
The last part, created by animenz, is truly a masterpiece... it's been a long time i've never felt so much goosebumps like that... the ending at 4:46 is even better : it's GOD-MODE. Thanks Animenz for that !
