An actual story about Animenz and Sincerely that I witnessed last year July 22nd, 2019, a few days after the tragic Kyoani accident, Animenz fan meeting was held in Guangzhou City, China. The fan meeting began with a very happy and exciting atmosphere because it was an awesome chance for us all to meet up with our favorite pianist. During Q & A session, most of the audiences asked normal questions about Animenz's musical experience, favorite anime, etc. However, suddenly a lady raised her hand, stood up from her seat in silence, and then started talking with crying: "The accident happened to Kyoani a few days ago was a disaster for all anime fans. We are really painful and sad after that. Animenz, would you like to play some Kyoani songs here?" After a moment's silence, Animenz said he would like to play some improvisations. The entire atmosphere has changed from happy to sorrow dramatically. Then, Animenz started to improvise a Kyoani medley. Fortunately, Sincerely was contained. I tried my best to hold my tears during this beautiful and fantastic moment. It was so moving and nostalgic. This medley also contained songs from Air, Clannad, etc. That moment was one of the most beautiful memories of my life. And thanks to Animenz, I was reminded of all the special feelings that Kyoani has brought to me. A few weeks later, I visited Japan, and I also visited the Kyoani studio which got burned. The entire building was enclosed. And I could clearly see that a beautiful yellow building has turned into a tragic brown and black building. After presenting flowers, I started to talk to the local policeman there. He got to know that I came from China, then he bowed to me, and said "Thanks for coming to Japan!" Tears came down of my face endlessly. That moment was one of the most painful moments that I have ever experienced. Even now, my eyes would be filled with tears whenever I think of that moment. After a year, at this memorial date. Animenz finally officially uploaded this arrangement. Thank you so much for being so kind to all anime fans. This accident remarks one of the darkest days in the anime world. But in this comment, I want to tell every anime fan that, please stand together and defend our community. Just finished my ielts exam today and i felt so tired driving home. But after watching this video, the whole burden was lifted and its amazing how music does its magic. Have a good day everyone!
Most people doesn't really understand how well his piano is tuned. It is so important, yet often overlooked. I am so grateful for your effort on maintaining the finest music experience. Both the instrument and pianist are definition of quality. You really plays a steinway the way it should be. Kudos.
I thought this piece would be a thousand times better than anything I could ever play, a thousand times better than any tribute I could've given, a thousand times higher quality than I could ever play. Looking at this masterpiece, I should've guessed a much higher number.
@@fennoqueven I’m a pianist but unfortunately some things are out of our reach metaphorically and physically. I’ve got pretty small hands (max stretch from like c to d#) and large arpeggio chords like in Chopin’s Nocturne op 48 no 1 or even the start of Liszt’s Mephisto Waltz are difficult to play at the right tempo…
@Luke Su You have a good point, though what I'm really trying to get across is the emotional concept of still trying and not seeing things as just 'beyond me'. Physical constraints are a pain, as we both have found (I too have only a ninth maximum reach), but not all virtuosic pieces and arrangements include tenths or uncomfortable arpeggios such as the works of Liszt.
"Watashi nande naiterun darou?" I'm not usually one to outright tear up when listening to music, but there's something about this particular performance that brought tears to my eyes. The soft entrance brought me chills, and then the moment the scale run cut in at 1:45, it brought over an entire wave of emotions that would not subside, the same way that the right hand unleashed a continuous stream of poignant notes at that point. I expected a normal chorus entrance, but instead I got an instant feels trip entrance ticket instead. It also brought back the same exact pattern as the pre-chorus section in the second OP portion of your Nagi no Asukara medley, one of my favorite arrangements by you, which further contributed to the wave of emotions Just like how several patterns and sections from your arrangements have stuck with me, 5:11 is one of those moments that will stick with me for a long time. The tremolo creates an atmosphere of tension that grows and grows until it releases and boils over as the chorus melody comes back in. I'm also working on a special Violet Evergarden medley at the moment, and have been struggling for a while with how I want the Sincerely Chorus to come out. Listening to this gave me a bit of clarity on the emotions I want to invoke and the musical picture I want to paint with that section. Thank you for continuously giving me inspirational moments like these to push me through my writing blocks. Indeed, your musical voice has reached and touched me and several others, and that means the world to me as well. See you next time! #PrayforKyoani
I was unconsciously smiling almost through out the song. I could literally count on one hand how many times this has happened to me. He kinda (way) outdid himself with this one (And I suspect the original is nothing to scoff at too). Honestly, I have no clue what the anime is about, but after hearing the music (Michishirube too), I have to look it up.
I've been waiting for this ever since he covered Michishirube. I'm genuinely so hyped for this. Can't believe it's been a year since that horrifying attack. Thank you KyoAni and thank you Animenz for helping us smile in these dark times. #Pray4KyoAni
This arrangement can be maximally moved by seeing and listening to the description in his overview section. Of course, I could be moved just by feeling the sound, but when I used his knowledge to think about his sound usage and his thoughts, everything matched and I couldn't stop crying. Thank you for the best impression ever. I'm sorry for using translation.
Gigguk once said in his KyoAni video: " I don't even know if the people who made this are alive anymore."... To the 36 people that passed away, and to KyoAni themselves... Thank you for creating the animes you have made. and to Animenz... thank you for making this tribute, I'm proud to admit that I cried to listening to this... it was a great arrangement.
Remembering the horrible tragedy that happened around 10:30am, this time last year makes my heart hurt. Kyoto Animation was a gift to the world. Praying for all those who had lost a loved one in Japan. Thank you for this reminder. I can't wait for this cover, although I can't see myself watching and listening without crying.
can we all take time to appreciate how he adds such a detailed analysis of his playing in the description? it helps deepen my understanding of not only the theory behind such beautiful music but also the emotion that went into it.
This piano arrangement is the most beautiful I have heard. On this day, exactly 1 year ago when I watched it streamed live, it captured me in its 5 bar cage and I knew I had to learn it for myself, nevermind that I was more or less a complete beginner. I could play simple songs but I wasn’t “good” in any means. That didn’t matter. I printed out a transcription and started. It took me many many months and so many hours of practice, sitting at that piano, but I am almost finished learning it. It’s the most difficult but flowing and wonderful interpretation of Violet Evergarden’s opening- the anime that started it all. I hope to no end that I can perform this in a way that does the notes on those pages the justice they deserve. It has taken me from a novice to a well seasoned pianist, and I have nobody to thank but you. From me and everyone else here, Thank you so much.
You have motivated me so much right now.. because am a beginner too and i don’t think i could ever play a hard song like this. But seeing your story makes me think otherwise :D thanks
Hi, I just wanted to say, you can do it! I'm in a similar situation! I wouldn't consider myself a complete beginner, this piece is arguably the most difficult by far. Have been learning for around 3 weeks and have gotten 2 passages from the 2nd and 3rd pages. It's soooo hard!! but I picked it up for the same reason as you, the anime and the arrangement is just so impactful and I love it so much I'd love to see you finish it!
It was sincerely (pun not intended) one of the best arrangement you came up with imo. The detailed description helped me to understand a bit more clearly everything that was happening, and especially that incorporation of Violet's main theme as an additional melody: this is briliant. I am generally a huge fan of leitmotivs in music so this kind of attention is very interesting. The polyphony is very predominant and the RH seems to be perpetually flourishing with all these embelishments, runs and arpeggios. I still can't believe it's been a year since KyoAni tragedy happened, and I still don't realize it totally, but I think it is the best tribute someone could hope for. Bravo for this amazing arrangement. I really like this "non-conventional" and free direction you're taking, it makes your work more unpredictable, and it surprises everytime, even when knowing the original song.
I agree, this new open path is really inspiring, and this song ... I have no .. words to describe it. Similar to Mahoutsekai new change, or my dearest piece 10 years ago.
Violet Evergarden aside for a moment, I think Animenz is an actual piano legend, and in a way that isn't hard for the world's common people to understand. By that, I mean like, you can easily _feel_ the skill he has developed for piano playing and through music that is familiar to the audience. And just by that, and watching his playing for over a few hours, you'd actually be able to learn a thing or two from him. I'd say, if there's anyone out there you know who you learnt something from over time just by observing them, they're probably geniuses, even in just a single certain way.
“You’re going to learn a lot of things, But it might be easier to keep living, if you didn’t learn them, if you didn’t know them. You don’t realize your body is on fire and burning up because of the things you did. You’ll understand one day. And then you’ll realize for the first time that you have many burns.” - Claudia Hodgins “Do I have any right after I killed so many people as a weapon? I must have prevented them from keeping promises of their own! Promises they made to loved ones of their own! Everything I’ve done so far has sparked a flame that is now burning me up.” - Violet Evergarden
That fast scale run at the start was incredible. The dual voicing was incredible! And I really liked that part at 4:20. Oh, and those extended sections were very creative. Overall, 11/10, great arrangement! Jebaited.
I love the story of the pianist, which is in the description, he showed his emotions and feelings for his love for anime and for Kyoani and it's almost 2 years since incident and I hope they can create a new masterpiece which gives the viewers new way of seeing life in terms of watching anime. I believe their ambition creating of slice of life genre of anime are their messages to us anime lovers that to live is to fight and survive. Thank you sir for for this touching piece I hope you could add more soon.🎶💕🎶
Animenz has this kind of unique sound of playing, I mean he has that colorful aura when he plays and the emotions he gives, he's one of the best pianist out there.
I was already kind of hyped from the beginning, then he pulls out the 30-second notes i believe and then i fall off my chair. mad respect Animenz, my fingers hurt from watching.
As someone who is emotionally inert to a point it's hard to feel like I belong around people this song makes me cry. The whole series made me cry when I watched it with a certain someone. Especially when it hit me why I liked it so much. In particular from the line "why am I crying" in the English version of this song.
man, you're luckier. I'm glad for you, and I sincerely wish to experience the same one day, since all I can resonate with is the first half of your comment.
I am speechless, it is unbelievable how much he expresses with his emotions while playing this piece. I could cry again every time I see something like that, how much love and effort has gone into this masterpiece.
This piece is beautiful, as was the anime. This anime never failed ti make me cry every episode…. Violet Evergarden was such a tortured, yet beauty soul. Despite horrific things she went through, she managed to pick herself up and move forward with grace and beauty.
As an anime fan, we all share the same sadness on that day and are probably still feeling the same even after all the tragic moments in 2020. I myself could not arrange a piece to carry my condolences and appreciation to Kyoani, thus thank you very much Animenz, for bringing to us this arrangement. I have been waiting for your version of Sincerely, and I am really surprised I can have this piece on the very same day after 1 year. Anime can heal, and so is music.
views shouldn't matter, but man this arrangement deserves so much more recognition. You made it masterfully Animenz! I have been playing it over and over again since its release
I cried so much by just watching Violet Evergarden and I think it’s one of the best anime cartoon I’ve watched before and I just love it soooooooo much I bet I cried a whole bucket of tears .Even my piano teacher was shocked when she was teaching my big brother this piece.I love you Violet! So much that I wish you were real!😢😢
reading the story of arranging this song in the description while listening to it really transferred Animenz's feelings to me. I'll never forget how badly i cried that day
This is one of your most beautiful arrangements in my opinion, up there with My Dearest and My Soul, Your Beats!. Every one of your arrangements have been a blessing for me, and a reason to get through the week. I can feel how much you put into this arrangement, in particular. I truly hope the staff at KyoAni will be able to recover, along with their loved ones. Thank you, Animenz.
"I will not say, do not weep, for not all tears are an evil." This was a moving arrangement, I can tell you put your emotions, thoughts, your hope into it. I'm a beginner pianist but even I know what it feels like to put all your heart into playing a song, and feel tired afterwards. After arranging a masterpiece like this and playing it, even a professional pianist would be exhausted. I can't stop listening to this. I'm spellbound. The revival at 6:15 invokes feelings of courage, tenacity, and hope - leaving the listener breathless. The final goodbye is heartbreaking.
There are times when I'll go long periods of time without listening to your arrangements simply because I get caught up in life. But it's always nice to come back and hear these amazing arrangements. This channel and this music has been a huge inspiration for me ever since I discovered it as a teenager and continues to be an inspiration now that I've become an adult. Your arrangements are one of the main reasons I learned how to play piano and I will always be thankful for it. Thank you for all the amazing arrangements throughout the years and I hope you continue to enjoy what you do.
This left me speechless. I don’t think there is a word in the English language that can describe how beautiful this is. You’ve truly touched my heart, Animenz. #PrayForKyoani
I really don't know how to express how much I love this arrangement. Every time I hear it it gives me the urge to run to my piano and start practising, despite knowing how far out of my reach it is in technical ability. I just wanted to say that you have created a masterpiece, and that I am extremely grateful for what you've contributed to this community. Thank you so much.
Shit, man ..... this is probably the only piece of music that made me obsess over it by listening repeatedly for over three hours now. No kidding, nothing has ever come close. I'm truly entranced. Grats to you, Animenz!
Funny. I just finished watching this anime for the first time, despite it being released a long time ago. It... was so powerful, and beautiful. I cried 9 times. Thanks for the beautiful performance and memories, Animenz. #PrayForKyoani

I`m so glad I started reading description during listening to this piece. I started following it before the most emotional part. Listening to your tribute knowing exactly what you meant to do, was something amazing. Tears just appeared naturally, when I was listening to the loudest part. For the first time in my life, I cried because something was just that beautiful. I can`t believe how deep and strong emotions were flowing from your piano. I`m very thankful for this experience. でもこの曲は、ヴァイオレットエヴァーガーデンは、そういう気持ちじゃなくて、心に何か温かいものを与えてくれて、その熱さでジワジワ涙が溢れてくるような作品だった、と思える演奏でした。
I was gonna like this but i saw the like number so i left it be
Most people doesn't really understand how well his piano is tuned. It is so important, yet often overlooked. I am so grateful for your effort on maintaining the finest music experience. Both the instrument and pianist are definition of quality. You really plays a steinway the way it should be. Kudos.
I agree so much
It's not his piano's sound, he uses a steinway d-274 vst
You don’t need a singer when the piano already sings like this
I thought this piece would be a thousand times better than anything I could ever play, a thousand times better than any tribute I could've given, a thousand times higher quality than I could ever play.
Looking at this masterpiece, I should've guessed a much higher number.
Don't beat yourself up! This kind of skill is gained by practice; not talent. I can only refer to Twoset violin for this... good luck!
@@fennoqueven yeah I know I love playing but no matter how hard I try sometimes I can never play something just because I’m physically restrained :(
Sorry to hear that man. Good luck with your playing (and stay safe)
"Watashi nande naiterun darou?"
I'm not usually one to outright tear up when listening to music, but there's something about this particular performance that brought tears to my eyes. It also brought back the same exact pattern as the pre-chorus section in the second OP portion of your Nagi no Asukara medley, one of my favorite arrangements by you, which further contributed to the wave of emotions
Just like how several patterns and sections from your arrangements have stuck with me, 5:11 is one of those moments that will stick with me for a long time.

Dude that segment gave me such a passionate , motivated feeling.. It reminded me of Violet striving to better herself and let go of her past self.
"See you next time!"...
No one knows u man
@@gtsiam Yes. I watched it also because of the music. Exactly that part.

That anime is such a masterpiece, it made me cry so many times.

3:04 That insane melody swap to left hand while your right hand is set free. Animenz's signature move right there, I love it.
can we all take time to appreciate how he adds such a detailed analysis of his playing in the description? it helps deepen my understanding of not only the theory behind such beautiful music but also the emotion that went into it.
6:54 Never fails to give me chills... The good kind. The nostalgia, feelings of hope.
From me and everyone else here,
Thank you so much.
post it
You have motivated me so much right now.. because am a beginner too and i don’t think i could ever play a hard song like this. But seeing your story makes me think otherwise :D thanks
@@Sequilz as cliche as it sounds yeah, anyone can.. it’s taken me a long long time but I’ve almost made it, and I’m sure you can too

Hi, I just wanted to say, you can do it!
I'm in a similar situation! I wouldn't consider myself a complete beginner, this piece is arguably the most difficult by far.
Have been learning for around 3 weeks and have gotten 2 passages from the 2nd and 3rd pages.
It's soooo hard!! but I picked it up for the same reason as you, the anime and the arrangement is just so impactful and I love it so much
I'd love to see you finish it!
アニメンズさんの想いが伝わってくる、美しいアレンジ、演奏でした。

5:10 just blew me away, the whole piano piece is beautifully composed and executed. Its the best out there
あれからもう1年経つんですね。。
心の真に迫る音の渦に涙が出ました。。。想いの強さをメロディにのせ、聴き手に感動を与えるあなたの演奏が本当に好きです。

What an incredible ode to the greatest piece of fiction ever made.
That fast scale run at the start was incredible. The dual voicing was incredible! And I really liked that part at 4:20. Oh, and those extended sections were very creative. Overall, 11/10, great arrangement!

Animenz gave this arrangement his all and it shows. I can't stop crying.
World most emotional pianist
Animenz has this kind of unique sound of playing, I mean he has that colorful aura when he plays and the emotions he gives, he's one of the best pianist out there.
splitting the melody between both hands and the upper voicing in the beginning is so tight 0:48

I see violet, i click. I'm a simple person. This is great, especially with the movie coming out
A mini dose of good will. Wish you health and keep producing great sheets / videos

This arrangement hits different... I cant describe what im feeling now but its most probably a fact that im addicted to this
This is still one of the best animenz pieces of all time
this is my most fav anime, and I feel as if in these 8 minutes I completely rewatched it and experienced the same emotions as the first time

he changed the atmosphere of the original song for some parts 😳 omg it sounds so gudddd >.
reading the story of arranging this song in the description while listening to it really transferred Animenz's feelings to me. I'll never forget how badly i cried that day

You don't know how much I appreciate this cover. I literally cried when you play this in your way. Thank you
This is one of your most beautiful arrangements in my opinion, up there with My Dearest and My Soul, Your Beats!. Every one of your arrangements have been a blessing for me, and a reason to get through the week. I can feel how much you put into this arrangement, in particular. I truly hope the staff at KyoAni will be able to recover, along with their loved ones.
Thank you, Animenz.
"I will not say, do not weep, for not all tears are an evil."
This was a moving arrangement, I can tell you put your emotions, thoughts, your hope into it.
This masterpiece is an example that he (Animenz) can transform an emotional song to even more emotional
I'm still left speechless by this arrangement to this day.
Finally!!! This is one of my favourite openings! It is so beautiful that I could just cry 😭😭😭 thank you animez!!!!

I`m so glad I started reading description during listening to this piece. I started following it before the most emotional part. Listening to your tribute knowing exactly what you meant to do, was something amazing. Tears just appeared naturally, when I was listening to the loudest part.
