I couldn't stand Evelyn at first because of the blatant homophobia, and I would say that one critique I have with this movie is how they practically brush it under the rug after a certain point. By that, I mean she goes from homophobia (or catering to her father's homophobia) to suddenly being okay with her daughter's relationship. I may need to rewatch the movie but from what I remember, there's nothing that really challenges that aspect of the character. She just goes from point A to point B in regards to that.

If you have never watched the Marvel show, Legion you should. In Legion David has the same reality bending powers. He makes Scarlett Witch look extremely tame, especially season 3. That is what this movie reminded me of the most. But somehow Legions weirdness as a show was a bit more grounded in reality.

After seeing this win seven Academy Awards, I wanted to watch the movie. My regret is not seeing it while it was in theaters. Upgrading to the Showtime bundle on Paramount + was worth every penny to watch this film. This is my favorite scene, and I can't get enough of it.
