I now understand why so many 60’s jazz drummers went Premier. excellent
Good video. In any case the set looks like it's from the late 60's/early 70's. In '67 they began to standardize the measurements and at the end of '68 everything was regular measurements. Some '67-68 sets came with two 12" toms. Actually one was 11.7/8 and the other was 12". It must be the first run of mahogany shells (these shells lasted until 75'-76'). The parallel snare system of the 2000 models has not been mentioned. In any case, a magnificent example of Premier's qualities in those years.
I am a modest collector of Premier drums and have drums from the early 60's to late 70's and find them to be very well built drums. Thank you.
Yep. In the high tune format you just put Premier up there with the best Bop kits in my opinion. Your playing is lovely btw.
Wow, what a versatile kit. You have a very musical feel and some great ideas. The shimmer on that ride is really impressive.
Sweet kit!
Super tasty playing and great sounding drum !
Yeah Noah! I like the higher tuning
that kit sounds GREAT!
That finish is really cool looking man. I like the sound both low and high tuned. The old A cymbals set it all off nicely.
If I simply heard these recorded with no visuals, I'd be dying to know what great sounding drums these were, high or low, tremendous sound!
Those hats!
3ply with re-rings, same as old Ludwigs and Slingerlands, but if I should tell from what I'm hearing those Premiers must have slightly sharper bearing edges, as they sound to my ears more like the old Rogers' 3ply rather than old Ludwigs and Slingerlands. Did you have the chance to see and check those Premier's bearing edges? I'm just curious....
Hey, just wondering, do you guys ever use One of those bass drum riser lifter things so you can get the bass drum beater to hit the smaller size bass drums, closer to the center of the drum
Very rare bass drum and the 14 floor is seldom seen in the UK, most people convert the marching snare that they did in the same finish if they want a 14. I have one in the same finish but 22x14 12x8 and 16x16 floor, and for some reason mine has Resonator inserts in it. The price is interesting though, I might put mine up for sale for shipping to America if thats the case...
Without me looking elsewhere on the web for an answer, this is an old British brand, right? I’ve seen the brand utilized in a wide range of idioms. Also, your technique and feel while playing is a treat to listen to. Very soothing! 😀
I think I hear why Sam Woodyard and Kenny Clarke played Premier. Nice sounding tubs.
If it was me, I would have Steve take the money out of my paycheck and take that thing home with me!
Proper Premier kit. Classic lugs don’t know why they changed them over the years
Low Tuning!
