ALOHA ! welcome to oahu. been here since 98 myself and for me it's mostly the great weather that kept me here. good luck , hope you end up loving this place as much as i do.
Aloha!! Thanks so much for the welcome! The weather is the most amazing thing when coming from Chicagoland which can be snowing and below freezing one day and then warm and sunny the next. Plans were always ruined.. We truly love everything about the island and can’t wait to create so many amazing memories! Mahalo!
As a single guy who got moved here by my company I got paid to move here, per diem, and a health home purchase allowance. They gave me two weeks it was nuts.
@Newa113 Wow, that is nuts that you only got two weeks, but so amazing that you got it paid for! What an awesome opportunity! Hope you love it as much as we do!
Best of luck, most people that move here stay on island for around 5 years and will move on back to the mainland. They have done everything and are bored of doing the same old things over and over. (Can't just jump into the car and drive into another state. Every trip off island are over a thousand dollars )
@@benh3427 Hey! Thanks for the heads up! We came from Illinois a very cold state and unfortunately we didn’t get to do much on the mainland or travel often. Actually for 10 years straight we vacationed to the different islands over traveling to different states on the mainland. Still so much to experience here on the island but we look forward to it! ☺️
On what part of the Island did you buy your home, and why did you choose that area of the Island? Also what are the 850 sq ft. home prices like on Oahu? Thank you for this video!
@NYBraveheart we chose central Oahu! It's the most lateral move from the suburbs of Chicago and very similar feel. Also, every part of the island is just a short drive away. 25-45 mins typically. Two bedroom Townhouse and condos run from about $425k and up. Depending how how modern or updated it could be over a Mil. Hope this helps! Thanks so much for watching!
@@tabbathaalcorn5934That’s so exciting! Fortunately we both transferred. We both work from home, and so we were able to stay with our companies while living here. When are you thinking of transferring?
@NYBraveheart It actually makes us wake up really early lol I work 10-7 Central time, so I work from 5am-2pm over here. I actually love the schedule! Sayra starts work at about 7am and works until she's done. Typically early afternoon. 🤙
@@Craig-and-Sayra Thank you for replying. I work from home as well; so I'll have to see what hours I can manage! Thank you again, and congratulations on your move to Hawaii!
