Ms. Marla, you are amazing!! I say it every time. I truely believe it. Leave it in the corner of shame… love it!!! I know filing on camera is not your favorite but it is appreciated. Thank you!!!
Never thought that I would eFile but it appears to be one of the most efficient and best ways to clean up the cuticle area after dipping. Bad peelie, bad peelie! 😂 Thank You for sharing! 😊
Thanks, Marla. Love the videos. I'm still at the early DIY stages and getting better at dip. However, I simply cannot seem to get the shine and smooth feeling as well as the salon tech can deliver. Is there a particular video addressing that?
1. Using the efile helps to evenly file down the product. 2. After you’ve filed your nails you must buff with a buffing block, they usually have them at the nail supply store. It has a 2 different grits, use the smooth one. 3. After you buff, I usually wash my hands just with water, then I follow with another coat of the activator. 4. The topper I use is one by revel nail. Use 2 coats and let it dry between coats. Wait at least 5 mins before adding cuticle oil.
@@MarlaKris and you are too funny! I am the same way with which bits I use. I always say If a professional is watching this I’m sure they are cringing. Is this the right bit to use, I don’t know but it’s working for me!
Thanks for the review. I wanted to share with you, YN showed a vid where you can use an eraser, like old school pink kind, to clean your bits. They say the acetone softens the product but it can still stick? So you just put bit in efile and turn on then run across eraser. Supposed to help longevity also. Works great!! 😁
Awesome vieo - Thank you! Why file in specific directions (e.g.: Reverse for left hand when dragging bit toward your body, Forward for left hand when dragging bit away from your body, etc.)? Is it to make the nail look more natural and so basically filing "out" or down the nail?
It you're not careful and don't use it going in the right direction for the way your going it can cause the file to jump off the nail. It happens to me all the time when I forget.
thank you I finally understand how to use my efile. I have a Melody Susie free standing hand or peddle, and I was afraid of using it because I would burn my nail and take out chunks. Used it today while watching your video and tada, easier to do and no chunks. Thanks Marla
So happy to see you liked it also! I bought it when it came out, they had a 50% off sale that was too good to pass up. It’s my first and only e nail file and I have ZERO regrets. It’s awesome and has changed my nail game. Edit: to say that I actually have the Sparkle Plus and I have no idea what the difference is because they look exactly the same but I have the green one lol
@@chassidyrettell5706 See my edit, I have the Sparkle Plus. I should say “50% off” with air quotes because the drills seem to always say they are marked down 😂 I paid a little over $100 for it. Check their direct website, they have a New Years sale going on right now.
I’ve watched this video before and I liked it but now that I’ve started using my e-file I love it! I was wondering how to remove bill from my dip powder (some of my nails tend to look too wide on the sides) and I wanted to see how the thin that out and your video helped. I didn’t think to use use a fine grit sanding band to sculpt my nail after applying dip. I’m going to try this on my next mani. Thank you so much for this video!
You always make e-filing look so simple. How do you take off builder gel? Do you think a rough sanding band would be good for removal of dip powder and builder gel?
So bc the sanding band generates heat quickly, I probably wouldn’t suggest it for removal bc it would burn. Instead, it recommend a carbide or a medium-coarse ceramic
Lol 😆 "Mock the Peely"! Great video. I didn't realize to avoid the need to use pressure while efiling was to simply increase speed. I have never used my efile higher than 12. I will try at a higher speed next time. Thanks Marla!
Almost. If you’re filing towards yourself with your right hand, forward. If you’re filing towards yourself with your left hand, it’s reverse. In a nutshell, you want the bit to spin in the opposite direction you’re moving the drill.
@@MarlaKris thank you for clarifying that!! Just used the Melody Susie sheen drill twice now so trying to look up as much tips and videos so I don't ruin my nails
I actually have this one! I bought the green one last month and I absolutely LOVE it. It's my first one so I'm glad I picked a great one, I use it all the time and I barely hit half on the battery. Their have been times where I have to leave mid mani and I take my efile with me and finish filing in the truck 🤣 it fits perfectly in my purse. I got so excited when I seen you got the same one sent to you! Love love all your videos they have helped me so much.
Do you have advice for skipping? I've made my finger bleed a few times because even though I file the opposite direction of the rotation sometimes it skips or gets caught and moves in the direction of rotation and cuts me
Could be a few things going on.. if it gets caught and rolls, it’s likely because you’re not rotating quick enough and you’re having to apply too much pressure. You can remedy this by increasing the RPM on your efile. If you’re using an efile that isn’t speed adjustable (only has 2-3 speeds) there’s not much that can be done aside from using a more powerful efile. I prefer an efile that has up to 30-35k RMP potential.
I have the Scamander. It’s been a good file to have for beginners. One thing I’ve learned to do is prime the diamond bits I use for cuticle lining. I used to cut the crap out of myself. Gave up for a while before starting back. I haven’t used the sanding bands yet but, I’m not quite there yet. Lol Thank you for this video!!! Love you!
I realize this is an old comment but I was wondering if you'd mind explaining what you mean by this? Priming diamond bits? Just ordered my first e-file and trying to learn as much as I can (and avoid "cutting the crap out of myself" lol 😬)
What I would like to see is how to use an e-file with a sparkly mani. It seems that whenever I use it with sparkly powder then the activator it dulls it. Same with colors that are supposed to stand out. What am I doing wrong??
Cool 😎 you explained the direction perfectly in this video Much easier to understand. What if the efile doesn't say which direction just has a switch button? Hey love! So with a dip top coat, you def want an ultra smooth surface. Try a 240 or higher buffing block. For gel top tho.. you want a rough or sticky surface. You can either 1- skip the buffing or 2- buff, then apply a gel primer. That will hold onto the nail and the gel top and help prevent peeling. Hope that helps!! 💙
@@MarlaKris thanks so much for your reply! I really appreciate your help! I've been using a finer grit sanding band and I believe it is 240 so maybe I'm just not sanding enough. I think I may grab a buffing block though and see if that's a better method. Thanks again!!!

I just got a beginner version e-file for my dip nails. I did a dark blue color with a clear cap but I have white specks in the color..did I file too much? It's also a new color so I don't know if it's the dip

This video is very helpful for sure. Question did you top the color before finished filing or are you going over the color? And does your finish filing defer between if it’s gel or dip powder
The color is encapsulated with gel base bc I used gel liquids for the mani but if you’re encapsulating with clear dip, it won’t have the sheen that my nails do. Nope! No difference! I’d file the same way whether it was gel or dip!

Your efile didn’t come with the prep diamond bits??
I need to learn how to file. I’m new to nails and I swear after all of my filing it’s still not smooth and it’s lumpy and just awful 😣
This is probably going to sound basic BUT hear me out.. the more you can improve your application, the less filing you need to do.
Happy New Year new friend! 🧡🧡🧡
Happy new year, lovebug! ❤️
And omg, laughing so hard "mock the peelie" 😂😂😂
🤣😂
Why do your nails look shiny like you already polished them?
Because I encapsulated them with gel base coat instead of clear acrylic 💕
I love my KS efile
I may or may not have relaxed into sleep. Just a bit 💜
You’re welcome 😂
Do you have a favorite e-file? I know you mentioned that you are using this one lately but wondered if you have a favorite!
This one is def my current fave. The scamander by melody susie is very similar (lower RPM) and at a lower price point. That one is also in my amazon storefront if you wanna check it out! ❤️
OMG! You so made me laugh you thumb shame you! 🤣 lol I've been sick a week! Covid maybe but I am improving so that good! Anyway thanks for making me laugh! Poor thumb!
🤣😂 happy to have made you smile! Hope you recover quickly, darlin!❤️
LMAO! Let that thumb nail sit in its corner of shame!
🤣😂😄
