Thanks to YOU and awesome videos like THIS, I am a file off person. I can get both hands filed off and prepped in under 30 minutes now! Go me! 😄
Yasssss!! 🙌🏻 that’s outstanding!! 💕💕
Under 30? Outstanding! It still takes me longer, but I'm slowly getting faster.
@@lorriangus thanks! ❤️
What a fantastic kit!
I’m so glad you made this video! It just
Informs for me that I’m doing it right. I’m a file off person now; used to be a soak off person. I also have Melody Susie drill, the Sparkle Plus Pro, the green one, love it!
As long as you’re not damaging your skin/nails, you’re doing perfectly!! 💕💕
Good morning, Weirdo Queen 💙👑
I hope you have a good day. Your posts brighten mine, as does your humor.
Good morning beautiful!! Good vibes for a relaxing day!! 🙌🏻💕
I’m an efile girl! Love the quickness of it!
Yasss!! So quick!! 🙌🏻
I am a combination girl! A bit if efiling, soak off both hands in 7 minutes and finish by hand filing. This, for me, is the fastest. Have not yet tried peel base and I’m just about to embark on the builder gel journey! All takes time by trial and error but it’s an adventure. I couldn’t do it without all your tips and guidance Marla! You are the best, 💕!
Aww stahp 🥹 I didn’t do anything!! But you’re totally right.. trial and error. That’s the only way to find exactly what works for you!💕
I'm backkk 🥰 time to do my nails again and needed inspiration. Thanks Marla you are my only nail channel that I follow for ideas and guidance 😍
Yayyyyy!! So glad you’re back!! Thank you for your kindness, lovebug 💕💕

What a pretty color! Holy drill bits!!!😱!!! Another great quick refresher. I have been hand filing and using the hot sub wraps😂 lately. Have a Fabulous Day,Love!🥰😍😘💓
The hot sub wraps 🤣😂 I’ll never I hear that!! Gotta love some finger sammiches 🤣
:) I am here for ALL of your shenanigans!!! Haha! It is so awesome to put new nail dips on...I am not gonna lie...but taking the old, or ratheralready on..it quite satisfying! I was mesmerized by your drill bit & the harmony of taking it off! Sending you Big Smiles today!! 😁
Lol right?! Feels so good to create a brand new blank canvas!! Have a fabulous weekend, lovebug! 💕
Marla, thanks so much for showing the speed of the efile for each task. Very helpful. That drill is sumptuous looking. Wish they would send me one!🤣
Lol you’re so welcome, love!! 💕
I have modified Susie e file too.iam still getting use to it. I like it. Never thought about clear layer under color. Thanks for sharing your helpful knowledge!
Oh it takes a while to become friends with an efile lol but practice makes progress!! ❤️
Love the shape of your nail bed.. perfect ❤
Omgosh thank you! 🥹❤️
Thank you for the video. I also season the sanding band at the edges with the nail file for a couple seconds just to make sure it doesn't get my skin. Just something I thought I'd say. Thank you this was wonderful.
That’s a great idea!! These happen to be super soft ☺️
Another stellar video! Soak off ruined my natural nails, so I am definitely file off!
Thank you so much, sweets!! 💕
Thank you SO MUCH for your videos! I have enjoyed them so much, and have learned much from you! I often times do my nails while watching your vids, or just have a cup of coffee (or a glass of wine 😁). This one was particularly helpful because I just tried dip nails for the first time, and wow they are rigid! My usual acetone steam off is not gonna work for these! Many thanks Marla!!!!
Omgosh you’re so welcome! And nope lol the steam off contraption def doesn’t work well on these! Files work great OR the acetone foil wraps from my last video!
Thanks so much for watching, love! 💕
I’m in the market for an e-file, specifically for removal to lessen the time in acetone, so this video was perfect! As always, thanks for sharing 😊
Ooh you’d love this one!!
Thanks for your support as always. We are glad that you could enjoy using our products xxxx
The honor is all mine, MS!! 💕💕
Hi Marla 💖 I have those carbide drill bits and am always intimidated when I want to use them over 8k rpm. When I do use my drill for removal I am very cautious and love my dust collector 😂 thank you for this tutorial and all you do. Love you 😘
I know it’s intimidating! I was scared for a long time. And then I pushed myself a little and realized how much easier it was going a little faster 🙌🏻
I just got an Efile from them and it’s amazing it’s the wireless one! 💕
Ooh yay!! So glad you’re loving it!! 🙌🏻💕
I love that the e file is green!
Lol right?!
Just found your channel and wow! I’m so glad. Thnx new weirdo subscriber !
I had a horrid dip done at a salon but now I can remove and do better myself (hopefully!)
Welcome to the family, love! So glad you’re here! Lmk how the removal and new dippy goes!! 💕
Very informative. Thank you! I have a couple Melody Susie drills but love the Atena because I was always fighting with cords. I usually file a lot of the dip off then brief soak in acetone to get rest off. I will start putting clear underneath. I am not sure if I would dare file that much off though. I have improved but there was a lot of trial and error in the process. 🙂
You can always file of the majority and soak the rest! That’ll be super quick 💕
I love how you make it look so easy. Me and efiles don't get along. I am a soak off person using freezer bags. That is the fastest removal method I have used. I use really hot water, which us the trick for fast removal. The acetone does get hot and I just left it out of the bag until it starts to cool then I put in back in the hot water.
Perfect!! As long as it works, forget the file!! 💕
I do a combo of both. File off then soak off. Like you, I dip with clear first to build an apex and to protect my nail.
Sounds like a winning combo! 🙌🏻
Wow! This drill looks amazing! I am on the hunt for a good one but unfortunately can’t afford one being a single grandmother raising two grandkids and my husband passed last year. Maybe after Christmas I can save up and get one☝️ I love all of your videos Marla!❤
Just bought me a Melodysusie a few months back knowing i wanted to get away from the pure aceton also. Didn't even no how to use until I watched some of your videos.. i wish I knew a good carbine bit to get.. i guess the search is on.. that's how I found you. You have such a pleasant and engaging speaking voice when sharing all your knowledge on nails. And I love your wit! Thank you so much for all the time and effort you put into the tutorials. You're the best! Keep up the good work , cant wait to see what's next. Many Blessings to you and your family! You Nailed it 😉
Omgosh you’re just the sweetest ever! That means SO much to me! Thank you for your kindness and support 🫶🏻💙
So I have a quick question. If I am going to work on my left hand, I place the e- file In my right and then put the knob on the "R" for reverse?? I know, newbies at it again.😂😂 Just wanted to make sure I understood this correctly. Thank you so much for your time. Have an amazing day 💅😬
@@susancampbell8106 lol I got you! So when the efile is in your right hand, you’ll be in F (forward) pulling towards you. When the efile is in your left hand, you’ll be in R (reverse) also pulling towards you. Basically, you want the rotation to be opposite of the direction your going (if you’re moving clockwise, the rotation should be counterclockwise)
Thank you 👍😉
I’m new to dips and I have tried the soak off method and it was a disaster! Soaked for 20 minutes and still had peeling thin nails after! 😣 So for my nail health and my own sanity I just bought one of these drills after watching this video. The pedicure I just did on myself was just a dream and my toes have never looked so good, thank you Marla!🥰 I can’t wait for my next manicure to try this out on my fingers too💅🏻
Aww yay!! You’ll have to keep me posted and lmk how it goes on your hands! 🙌🏻💕
@@MarlaKris u seem like a nice lady❤
Interesting content, looks like it would be a time saver but at this point in my dip nails journey I don’t know that I am brave enough to try an e-file. I just received the foil wraps from Amazon yesterday that you had just demo’d, so I am anxious to try them when I remove my current mani. Thanks for sharing!
Hey love! Baby steps! Let me know how you like the foils!! 💕
I did my first soak-off in a year this week. Otherwise I only do file-off, down to builder gel these days! Great video, be well my friend!!! xoxo Gabrielle
Oh wow!! Did you redo the builder or do something new?? 💕💕
@@MarlaKris I felt like redoing the builder. A fresh start!!! Lol 💕
Hey Marla! I love these kinds of videos. I definitely need to get a better e file. Maybe I’ll rear myself soon!💜💜💜
Yay!! So glad you enjoyed it! Which efile are you using now, love?
@@MarlaKris it’s a melody Susie e file I got off Amazon for nothing. It’s a simple one that plugs straight into the outlet nothing special, I got it to try it out. Now that I know I love it I want a better one. Definitely will be a melody Susie.
@@Madnessmakes you’re gonna be blown away once you get a new efile. The difference in performance is INSANE. And efiling is WAY faster with a good tool.
@@MarlaKris lol if I wasn’t sold before I am now!!! I will definitely be ordering one soon.💜
File off only from the very beginning 😁 I made myself get familiar with the bits and practicing on my husband, myself, and my teens.☺️ I couldn't imagine soaking off and I've tried peel base, not a huge fan. Still trying to find that sweet spot. Kinda frustrating when you can master transfer foil gel and transfer foils, waterslide decals, blooming gel etc. But peel base has been a struggle smh. Loved the tutorial and the only suggestion I have is seasoning your sanding band just like you would a fresh hand file so there's no nipping of the skin!
Great advice on the sanding band!
What’s happening with peel base? Maybe can help 💕
I use the method of soaking in acetone and I hated it, because my nails feels weird, a week ago I bought the e file and loved it, it's super fast! I also usually put a layer of clear construction gel to strengthen my nail, and helps a lot to don't hurt the nail and know when to stop filing.
Absolutely perfect! 🙌🏻
I do peel base on top of my builder gel. I do file off my builder gel with my melody Susie file. I ❤️ that new machine. I don't need a new one but ohh boy is that new one calling my name 😀.
Lol need is subjective 😂
@@MarlaKris I bought it 😀😀😀
I ❤️ melody Susie
Me toooooo! 💗
I almost got this! I decided on the orange and pink Bellavena from Double Dip. I have the Kiara Sky so I’m interested to see how they compare!
Ooh you’ll have to let me know which you like better!
Hi Marla! I’m a new subscriber and I’m loving all your videos. I’m in the process of perfecting my at home dip powder routine, and your content has been such a huge help, especially after I found I developed a gel allergy 😩 I was wondering if you could tell me which dip base liquids dry slower so I can have more time to get proper nail coverage before I dip? This would be so helpful! Thank you 🥰
Hey lovebug! Welcome to the family!! I can definitely help with that. You can actually make any dip base slower drying! Apply the base but don’t dip. Let it just dry. Once dry, apply another coat and then dip as usual. I’ve found the first coat slows the dry time of the next. If that still doesn’t work for you, try the dipalicious dip base! 💕
Omg this is GENIUS! Thank you so so so much, I am so excited to be a part of this community 🥰 I hope you and your family are having a lovely week!
@@inciarashid9569 please let me know how that works for you! Have a fabulous weekend, sweets! 💕
I always use clear under my color because of the amazing blue stains I had on my nails from the one time I didn't. 😆
I'm an e-file person for removal. For me, it's safer, easier, and faster than any other method. Do remember to prep the sanding band before using! They can be sharp, and can cut you.
Yes season the edge that's close to the skin☺️
I’ve not had that experience but that’s great advice! 💕
@@denimeier8675 Yes. Season is the word I was looking for. I had a brain fart! 🥴 Thank you!
Marla I love watching your videos. I have taken the journey with you and learned so so much. Lets talk efiles. When I got a little confidence I bought a Melody Susie entry level efile. It was inexpensive and I can definitely clean up my cuticles before and after applying dip. I have tried to remove dip with it, but I am thinking it isn't strong enough. I just checked and it's highest level is 20,000 rpm. Not strong enough? It just seems to be able to handle taking off the shine. Then I must soak. I would love to just file. Is it the file? Or is it my technique? If it is too weak I am retired so I have to be frugal with my choices if I must buy a new one...
Hey love! It’s more likely than not the efile. It’s simply not powerful enough. I prefer a 30-35k rpm especially for removal.
I’m a newbie to all this, got that Markatt dippie kit, but even as careful as I can be, the top coat brush hardens after a use or two. Is there another top coat or kit you recommend? Thanks for any help.
Hey love! Sometimes that can happen when the brush is exposed to the activator for too long. I like to wipe the nails off with a dry paper towel before top coat. Then, after each nail, wipe the brush on a paper towel. That’ll help to avoid future contamination 💕
This is a on time video for me. I recently bought this drill bit. Been afraid to use it. But I want another way to remove my dip set without soaking.
Also Marla, how do you work your F & R on your drill? Are we supposed to turn off the drill before changing the direction?
Yep I would advise powering off the device before switching directions so you don’t burn the motor out! ❤️
How do you get the dip layer that's right in the natural nail completely off. Do u use the bands all.the way to natural nail. I am a beginner and have been editing off color and then soaking the clear coat I do on natural mail?
Yep you can use sending bands, hand file, or acetone! 💕
What video did you do those colors on? I love them
Thank you!! They’re from the new Revel roller derby collection!
I'm new to this but am learning so much from you! Thanks! I 8nitially bought MelodySusie Portable Electric Nail Drill, Compact Efile. I didn't want to invest a lot of money into an efile until I was fully committed to doing my own nails. Now that I am I see different RPM 30,000 and 35,000. Does it make a difference which to invest in? At this point soaking just takes too long for me so if I can master an efile that would make my life easier! Thanks! You make such wonderful instructional videos!
Hey love! Thank you so much for your kindness and support!
The higher the RPM, the more power it has. Which makes for a much quicker and easier product removal!
Thanks! I'm all for more power!😂
I just ordered the Jade! Not the plus though, the white and gold one, I'm very excited. Not that I needed it, I already have a couple of their drills (and love them), so I need it like I need another hole in my head, but it's so pretty. I had to have it! I never get anywhere near 30,000 RPM, so the slightly lower RPM is not a factor.
It's a good thing I ordered my Jade before I saw this kit, because I really can't spend that much right now, and I don't know if I would have had the will power not to order it anyway. 😕
Lol if you have a 30k you def don’t need another one! 😂
@@MarlaKris I've got several. The Scarlet, the Scamander, and now the Jade. I also have their little entry level corded one, the first efile I bought, and it works surprisingly well. I got the truly cordless rechargeable one and I wanted to love it because so many people in the group love theirs, but I can't. It lugs too much at slower speeds.
Marla!! I love the blue color on your nails! Is it a dip powder, and if so what is the brand and color???
Thank you! It’s a color from Revel - from their new roller skate collection! I think it’s called Derby
I just started using Koko & Claire gel peel base. You soak for 10 min in hot water instead of acetone and it works great with dip powder! It works well with gel too, but doesn't come off in one piece the way it does with the dip (though I've only tried it once and need to play with it more).
Oooh!! I may have to try that one!
Can you share your routine when using Koko & Claire? Do you use it right on your natural nail or over builder gel? Do you put on a top coat first and then the peel base? Thanks!
Also- how long does your mani last with Koko and Claire peel base?
@@LoriMama I have been doing 2 coats of the peel off base on my natural nails based on a recommendation I saw. This time I tried just doing 1 coat, so we'll see if that's any different. I haven't done a wear test to see how long they last since I've become obsessed with doing my nails, but have gotten at least 8 days with no lifting and none popping off. They supposed to last 7-10 days.
@@erinl8979 Thanks so much! I just ordered it so I’ll experiment with it as well. I have had nothing on my nails for months trying to get them healthy again after I damaged them by being inpatient with soaking them off! 😬 I’m itching to get back into dipping again!! I want to try and do a builder gel overlay to protect my natural nail then use a peel base so I don’t have to soak or file. I like to change up my mani every 5-7 days (there are so many pretty colors- I just want to use them all!!) but I can’t get peel base to last more then a day or two so hoping this one is different! Also hope it works over builder gel!
I'm definitely a 'soak off' kind of girl. I use a tray, cotton balls and HOT water. I can do each nail in 4-5 minutes (as long as it's not glitter I'm taking off). I don't mind getting a bit of my skin in acetone. This method, for ME, is fast, easy...and I can be on with my next dip.
Glitters can be so stubborn!! Def my pet peeve of all things nails 😂
I'm right there with you...the E-file scares me after going to the salon for about 15 years and having my overlay dremeled off. I'll sit and soak my dip powder off in my bowl of hot water & Zip lock baggies ❤
Hi Marla. Love your videos! What oil in a pot did you use at the end? Thank you.
Thank you so much, love!! I use candi skin care cuticle oil! It’s fabulous! ❤️
@@MarlaKris Ok. But you used a different one this time. It was in a small pot.
I like to soak off, but with using the baggie with a dryer sheet I use very little acetone and melt off in 5-7 minutes.
There ya go! Whatever works! 🙌🏻
Did you go down to natural nail or just to the clear dip
With the carbide, I’ll only go to the clear dip. Def don’t wanna touch nail with that!
What do you do if anything to avoid the filed off acrylic powder flying around?
You can use a dust collector! I have one but NEVER remember to use it! 🙈
Hi Marla can you repeat using the Emile drill bit? I don’t like soaking so oh if I use my e-file before I use it on my nails I have to have builder gel or clear acrylic powder underneath I think that’s what I heard you say I just want to verify it and make sure I don’t damage my nail? Thank you.
You don’t technically need BG or clear under if you’re filing off but I find it definitely can protect the nails! I would highly recommend it!
@@MarlaKris Hi Thank you I do want to protect my nails. What is BG?
@@Dolldoll100 BG = builder gel
@@MarlaKris Lol 😂 Thank you 😊
Peel base all the way lol and then when it comes to changing tips, I file off and then use a gel remover in a bottle 😬 I can't wait for the soak off lol
Lol tell me you have no patience.. without telling me… 😂
@@MarlaKris patience is saved for the kids... All 4 of em take all I have 🤣🤣🤣 I need all the shortcuts everywhere else.
Can you soak off gel liquids?
You sure can!! They may take a bit longer depending on the brand of gel ❤️
I think what confuses me is the layer of clear underneath? Is the goal to leave that as intact as possible and put the fresh mani over it? Or does that come off when you use the buffing block?
The clear acts as a protective layer o you minimize the risk of damaging the natural nail during file off. You can completely remove it or dip right over it!
So what is the grit/coarseness of the drill bit?
The removal but was coarse, the sanding band was fine, the diamond but was fine as well 💕
Have you tried the igel ooo lala fine dipping powder?
I haven’t but one of my moderators loves them!!
Awesome thank you. They r really cheap rn lol and so r the diamond powders.
I soak off ., but will try it those way in a few minutes.
Lmk how it goes, love! 💕
I do both efile and soak the color is off in like 12 minutes.
Peel base and gel remover as needed
I’m sure I’ll be back with peel base at some point 😂
I do the polygel nails pretty often now, they're almost IMPOSSIBLE to soak off, so of course I have to file off. Should I use a build gel or something under those, or is the clear base gel good enough?
Oof yeah.. polygel is HORRIBLE to soak! As long as you go super slow, you should be fine. But if you’re more comfy with a layer of clear polygel or builder gel underneath, that’s totally ok too! 💕
I've just purchased my 1st e-file ever because this is how I want to remove my mani. So tired of the other method, soaking has never been good for me.
Which efile did you grab? Remember, practice makes progress.. there’s definitely a learning curve. But you’ll get it!! 💕
Hello, my nails get hot, feel burning with sanding, but your real time use doesn’t show this, do you have a tip please?
Sanding bands can definitely cause some heat. I find it best to keep he speed low on them and move around a lot - don’t stay in the same place for more than a second or two
@@MarlaKris Ok thanks so much Marla. I think I've been using them too fast. I also learned a better way to e-file my cuticles from another video of yours. Thanks so much.
I lose always a lot of time removing my colours i did soak off and now i do it with the drill but still it takes me to long i dont now why 😔
How much time are we talking about, darlin?
