- This video is a bit of a two-for-one for @everyone as we dive in SNW James Kirk and his abilities as well as shields as a whole. How exactly does Star Trek Fleet Command calculate how much damage shields actually stop? How do officers and research affect shield bypass/shield mitigation? As you can imagine it can get kind of complicated. BUT, no fear, we break it down in simple terms here in this short(ish) video!

Thanks for this Rev. I don't understand the "1-" term: that will reduce the shield mitigation of the officers; the stronger the officers the less mitigation will happen. (Sorry I know you don't like the term).
The crucial mistake they make is that they do not make the distiction between percent and percent-point... Pike reduces by percent-points, Kirk/Harrison reduce actual percentage. Actually most of "scopely-math" is as tricky as it is because of the lack of this distiction.

What I'm wondering is whether to put my Event Store currency toward one of these epics like Kirk, even though it won't be enough to get him, or to put it into promoting Chapel who I obtained earlier in this arc.
Chapel. She will benefit you a lot more than Kirk will. Especially if you won't unlock him this arc

I have had SNW M'Benga for a few weeks. Playing with him in different ways. What I found is with SNW Pike/SNW M’benga/ SNW X you can make some really really good specialty ship crews. That work really really good. SNW Pike/SNW M’benga/ snw ortegas on the pickle is good. SNW Pike/SNW M’benga/ snw ohura for probes, and the list goes on etc. They make really good specialty ship crews that works almost as good as anything else or better.
Is M’Benga better to have for probes than Una? I use Pike/Una/Uhura for them

100% is never 100% in this game, that’s only thing I know about their math.
Mining a node takes 18 hours. "100% mining speed increase" ability used. Node now takes 9 hours, right? NOPE! 16 hours 30 minutes. Make it make sense!
when you reach level 50 and higher PMC (the old school crew) you can hardly use anymore. Then SNW crews will be your best buddies. I have almost never used PMC for years, since SNW came out (at that time I was OPS level 42).
True until EPicard Edata 5 como and make me get more loot in less time.

i actually like how when attacking hostiles. you have to pick crews. i just wish pvp was that way
I did several tests with SNW Pike this morning and my results do not match the claims in this video. I recently got him to Rank 5 which is a 35% reduction. I tested him by himself, with Pike (boosting the ability to 49%), and with Pike/Moreau (boosting the ability to 77%). There were no "multiplicative" officers present (no SNW Kirk or Harrison). So based on the claims in this video, I should be able to directly subtract the percentages from 80%. That did not work. Here was the actual shield absorption observed for the hostile:
Case 1 (Pike/Moreau/SNW Pike) - Expected: 3% Actual: 5%
Case 2 (Pike + SNW Pike) - Expected: 31% Actual: 55%
Case 3 (SNW Pike alone) - Expected: 45% Actual: 72%
Shield absorption!
Shield Absorption. It absorbs damage.

SNW Kirk is good against hostiles that ignore player shields (because better crews like SNW Pike and Janeway do not work) and against hostiles that have 4-5 times higher shield health than hull health. So, Scopely has potential to combine these 2 aspects in a new hostile to make SNW Kirk valuable for a niche use case. This is why I am not going for him - mathematically he is too weak against general hostiles compared to other crews.

I got him cause OP50 on S34 did only spend litle over SMS só I sniped 2nd place. Got my revenge on XINDI but ignore 100% their shields

I don't care about Kirk, just tell scopley to get rid of the god awful Cardassian event!!! That's twice already they've ran it. God i hate it sooo much🤬🤬🤬
Notice how they always run it during pvp events also? It's almost as if Scopely want people to skip the event, and buy points packs 🤔

So what is the actual math of the battle log you show? Is it (0.8 - Pike) x (1- Kirk) = damage reduced by shields?
The effect of the officers don’t trigger the same every battle
I wish I had the patience for the mathematics of it. When I'm on the game I just want to know. Boom who do I use for x y b. Spend alot of time on the game, but I can't be bothered with the nonsense.

My why moment, scopely has yet to create an event to source such officers as him out. I mean if they wanna make money put him up for sale and watch people buy it. Maybe…depending on if they fixed bugs an such

Obviously Scopley neèds to work on the formula as it clearly not complicated enough. The formula isn't complete until Rev cannot explain it.

The whole reasson they make the discriptions so confusing is to make it seem like a whole new ability and sell it as such. Also why they don't want to have keywords to simplify this. Ridiculous tbh
i know this is off topic but have been getting alot of hirogen events lately and i hate them so much with a passion its like playing where's wally or finding a needle in a haystack grrr stupid event ever i mean ever
You are hunting in the wrong area. Start at Vexlixys and go North-east. 100% of the ships are hunters.
Even with the elite hunter systems, it’s still 100 or more kills for a 24 hour milestone. They did a copy/paste of the Lost & Hirogen event and didn’t take into account that the lost hostiles not scoring and the elite Hirogen being warp-gated means you are hitting lower hostiles than the event assumes. It’s a flawed event metric.

@@jeffreywilliams8018 Fort the event that allows Hunters I hit 58s. For the normal Hirogen event I hit 60s. Takes me about 3 minutes to finish either event at ops 56.
Thanks again for pushing pvp. It really sucks and adds nothing. I enjoy not being able to do simple events. People HATE THE WAR ROOM . Thank you for NOT knowing the player base . A useless stupid addition with poor payouts.

Janeway/Doc/E-Data with Hugh/B'Elanna/Paris below. I get around 100 56s on a hull with my Sanctus. My iso research/artifacts are all maxed though.
