  • In the summer of 2003, Brit Air 5672 was an internal flight in France flown by a CRJ-100. Onboard were 21 passengers and 3 crew. On approach, the pilots failed to set the auto pilot to approach mode, this meant the plane never captured the glide path. Due to wind, the plane drifted to the left, the plane then landed over 2km away from the runway, before careening through a field and a forest, narrowly avoiding a house. The planes wings were torn off, and the cockpit was severely damaged, killing the captain. The planes left side caught fire, all the other passengers and crew were able to escape before the plane was destroyed by the fire. 9 of the people onboard were seriously injured.
