Three weeks in and your bespoke exercises are really helping strengthen my legs. For climbing and descending stairs really does help. As well as everyday walking too. Bravo!

This is fascinating. I know i get frustrated when my body doesn't seem to function properly, but this concept makes sense. Thanks for explaining it so clearly.

as i kid i thought lifting one eyebrow at a time was cool so i would spend a lot of time doing what i called, “training my eyebrows” until finally i was able to do it! now i can say it was through neuroplasticity!

I just found you...... I am in awe. I spent 6mos in hospital after covid. I have been pretty much bed bound for a year and a half. I had to relearn how to do everything again after a 3 week coma. I am still dealing with fibromyalgia and POTS and back pain. I am hopeful...

Understand the value of repetition. My mother had an ICH left side. I can’t even get her to attempt to do any kind of exercise. What do you suggest? Mom’s motor planning was disrupted by the stroke. She has limb apraxia, ataxia, expressive aphasia. It is so frustrating.

Once you build a new pathway to, for example, lift your leg, how long does it stay learned? Do you have to keep doing the exercise?

    • @DoctorGretchenHawley
      @DoctorGretchenHawley  5 років тому +3

That's a great question! As long as you continue practicing the movement and using that new pathway, it will stay learned and be the new pathway that is used!

Wow!! I had looked into a program that is a little pricey but this is SO helpful for people who may not be able to spend the money right now.
I had a traumatic childhood and know that has led to my current health issues years later. I am 40 years old, quite fit and active. I was diagnosed with Chronic Lyme disease a few months ago by my Naturopath who I found after numerous visits to specialists over the course of a year and a half trying to figure out what was going on with me. I will be doing a Lyme treatment recommended by him but I would also like an additional avenue to work on some other issues like, severe anxiety, depression, food sensitivities and intolerances, gut issues. I believe my body has been in a heightened state for many years and it’s all catching up with me now. Would these exercises also work for these types of symptoms and what would those exercises look like and entail?
Thank you so much for any additional info or videos you may have on this! I just subscribed to your channel! 🥰

Hi @leannshort, you're comment is from a year ago so you may already have started your healing journey. But if your question still stands, I would like to recommend Irene Lyon's channel for healing trauma/stress in the nervous system as a starting point.

@@sandtx4913 Wow thank you so much for that. I am still on my healing journey and figured out 6 months ago what is driving my debilitating illness since I got C 3 years ago, April 2021.
I have old root canals and wisdom teeth cavitations that I am having a Biological Dentist address. These things can cause systemic, debilitating disease and can also seriously affect the nervous system as well. I am actually flying to Germany to have this work done by a colleague of the Dentist I’m working with. I’ve met him already as he came to her office a few months ago to see some patients. He is world renowned and his name is Dr. Shahram Ghanaati from Frankfurt Germany. I am going to see him because he’s world renowned and will do all the work at one time and while I’m under general anesthesia.
I’m sure there are probably Biological oral surgeons in the states but now that I know what it is I don’t want to waste more time looking for someone else. He is a legit Dr, who actually has 3 doctorates. He is good friends with another her Biological Dentist from Munich named Dr. Johann Lechner.
You can watch some of his lectures here where he talks about the detrimental effects of root canals and wisdom teeth cavitations. The Chemokine RANTES can cause so many immune problems, diseases and cancers.
Thank you for this info also. I will look into it and thank you! ❤️

@@sandtx4913 Well I tried to write you a comment back but my comments since finding out my root cause keep getting deleted because the powers that be don’t want the truth being revealed! 🤬
Thank you for this info. I will look into it.
However I did find the root cause to my illness. God forbid I share it with other people so that they may get help also…. 😒

Gretchen this is an absolutely brilliant video 👍😁! So important for everyone with ms to see this, understand it and implement it. There is no such thing as no way to help yourself, but far too many do give up or don't try as hard as they need to for personal benefit. Hopefully wide exposure to this very positive and informative video will put that right for many😃!

Innocent or a un-edumakated person now I even know after my boxing drills and I can lift my left leg after the one two three combo and everytime I throw my left you must move to the left and a extra step from you're left leg must be done to spin while low and centered to get away from the Center line of Fire I just couldn't do it and stayed stuck even though I had to do it now I will keep practicing since I'm excellent moving right who woulda known or is it that Mylen deficiency or what ever she called it Hahaha...

What can be done about anhedonia, though? How do people with medication injuries, who are experiencing things like BIND (benzo induced neurological dysfunction) or Akathisia....where it is literally impossible to enjoy a breeze or snuggling with a pet. What can be done for that kind of brain assault?? I would love to know exercises for people who literally can't feel any good emotions.

I have 3 lumbal hernias. My reght leg is responding very badly. 3 times my right leg has been limb for 2 months because of the nerve being sqeezed. Im afeaid the nerve is damaged for good. Could neuroplacity give me a solution? Can the damaged nerve recover? And then my second questiin : due to very difficult life surcomstances with muj 18 year old disabeled son I am now for over a year in a severe burnout. I can not even get up the stairs. My body is really exhausted. I have to get up 3 times a night, every night, because of my sons epilepsie. My body told me STOP last year and I am poorly recovering. Is there hope?

It depends on what is causing the nerve damage. Neuroplasticity works when the nerve damage is at the level of the brain. Whereas if the damage is at the level of the muscle, that would require different strategies like stretching and strengthening or possible surgery in some cases. To figure this out, I'd recommend working with an in person physical therapist.

Everyone's brain's are capable of utizling neuroplasticity! This is what occurs after surgey when people need to relearn how to walk, etc. And it is also how those who have had a stroke can re-learn to speak, etc. Neuroplasticity is the brain's ability to strengthen neural pathways or to create new ones!

The difference is boxers have healthy brains (at first). This helps people with brain damage that doctors once believed could never get better.
