grab the little fold out steps at kmart. i have about 5 of them. use them for easier access to the fridge in the 4wd. or working in the engine bay etc. even use them at home for odd jobs and as a stand for waxing snowboards.
Good morning from the cold, wet, gray, Germany. 1. we have bought this year a folding aluminum step. You get better in and out of the car. And you can cook better on the side. Since my wife is also a little smaller, this is a great relief. 2. cheap cooking on the road, an underrated source of protein are the "roadkills". You shouldn't leave these lying around if they're fresh...... And the dog is happy too! 😉
Yeah I think an aluminium step is the way to go! We had a couple of plastic ones that we (Jack) 😜 broke early on in our travels that we never replaced! Haha I'd definitely leave that cooking to Jack 😂😂
Yes, include more of your cooking on your travel blogs. Even include a bit of how you set up each time you arrive at camp (Maybe have this in FFWD motion etc).
Introvert observation: catching up on these videos, you guys are so happy when you have open spaces, sunshine & water - as exciting as trips to countries like Japan are, I feel that for you, travel to busy, tiring places should be minimal & for your happiness, look at travelling to places which tick off the above 3 criteria- more of Australia, New Zealand, the pacific islands…. Definitely the pacific islands- seems like these are frequently overlooked by vloggers…..
Oh man i've been slack with keeping up with the videos lately.. but seeing that intro was just great. certainly missed watching you guys! Awesome video, very informative and the editing, once again was amazing.
As far as camping and travelling goes, I am always on the lookout for good, simple meal ideas. Whether it is for breakfast, lunch or dinner, I like to have something relatively healthy, inexpensive and filling enough so we are not wasting time and money on takeaways. Good regular theme, no need to do the full Harry Fisher from Fire to Fork, leave that to him.
My wife is from Perth and I lived in Perth for few years with her. Beautiful Beautiful place. When you get off the airplane, the air literally smells different. So nice. Only thing about Perth... MOIT!!! dang flies!!! those flies EVERYWHERE!!! You can't do picnic in aussie beaches because them flies will eat your food faster than you can.
Looks so good.. quick easy and reasonably healthy.... just the ticket for camping... You need to invest in a step up for Meghan though mate... lol looks like a bit of a stretch for her to cook from ground level... Another great video though guys
Mmmm, not good having her face so close to the cooking, make the bench lower, or sturdy step up really !!. Thanks for sharing, take care and stay safe, Cheers.
@@itsJackandMegan So natural and full of fun ... you nailded it Team. Thr meals thing is teal good. Your on the money, simple, quick and easy wins the day and if its healthy and resonably priced its a winner Thanks guys. Loved that vid.
just ran into your channel.. so many UA-camrs just try to hard and are just annoying.... but you guys are so pleasant to watch. very likeable! good luck on your travels!
Hey guys, they have something similar at Target, but not bamboo they are Acacia Wood salad bowls. Either way would pay $20 a pair, they are nicer in the bamboo. 😎.
Hey guys. Loved the video. The pancakes made us hungry. Would have loved to have them for breakfast. Must have Megan's recipe book for when we start travelling later this year.😋 😉 😀 😜
Postage could be a killer on the bowls , I reckon $40 for 2 x 20cm bowls including delivery or $45 for 1 x 25cm bowl and 1 x 20 cm bowl ( his and hers set which would stack better )
Great topic, I'm always looking for cheap & easy meals when camping. Have you thought about buying an adjustable height painters stand, baileys & gorilla put out a couple of different models, can get them from Bunnings. Use one myself, plenty of bench space and correct height for safety, ( thinking of Megan). Keep up the great posts. Blessings.
Thanks for watching Clairre! We did have a fold out step when we originally left on our lap but it broke less than a month in 😂 definitely need to find something sturdier, a painters stand sounds like a great idea!
I'm a tight ass so $5-10 for the bowls. You should ask your viewers for budget camping meals and if any sound appealing add them into an episode with credit to the viewer. Once you have a good collection you can do a cook book I'm sure people would be keen. If you turn a couple of your spare bowls upside down Megan could stand on them to help with her cooking shortage LOL.
Great vid guys, I only just stumbled upon you’s. Idea: maybe look at a small fold table (oztrail alluminium) to make easier for Megan. That way you cook on the table but use the troppy bench for prep
I will continue to watch and learn for our own big tour to Turkey. It goes from Germany via Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Iran to Turkey to our HOME.
Our original stove before trying out this one was also a companion, but the high output model. To be honest we prefer that model over the one we tried out in this video! Just seems to do better in the wind and a bit more compact!
Add a few of your camp ovan meals, then when you catch fish or octopus to what you normally do maybe. A life on the road cookbook. You could maybe mix it up with seasons (vegs/fruit/time of year) and or state ie Lobster = Robe SA, Crabs = Cardwell Qld, Prawns = Ballina NSW, Scallop pie = Lorne Vic. You could do you version etc
Bloody brilliant vlog guys. Really enjoyed watching this for some good camp cooking tips. Good to see you back out and about. I love the Collie area, so good for camping 👍

Hey Anant thanks for watching! Will link the stove we were using here - www.companionoutdoor.com/proheat-two-burner-stove-hp-regulated We have also seen Companion products stocked in BCF & Anaconda. Also have a look at the high output version, that is the one we took on our lap and actually prefer over this new one!
That stove looks pretty good, are you happy with it? What brand is it & Im assuming it runs of a standard gas bottle? Bamboo bowls, you say they are better than IKEA? I suppose they are going to be at least $15, hard to say as I don’t know size, $20? Postage ($15) & 2 bowls brings it to $55 & budget conscious people might baulk at that. I’m a touchy feel type person, I rarely buy online for that reason……but line Megan, I’m just weird 🤣 Ps: You’re a bit odd too Jack 😝
It is a Companion stove just like the one we took on our lap. We will be sticking with our original bbq when we head off again full time as we think this new one would struggle to stay lit in high wind! Also while it's nice to have the extra room for large pots & pans it is too large for the recess in our setup. Yeah we definitely need to find a cheaper supplier if the bowls are something we really want to pursue. We think it's a really great idea but might need to put a pin in setting up a second business for now 😂
@@itsJackandMegan Please don’t let me put you off, If it was a nice bowl I might pay $50 but that’s why I rarely buy online because I like to touch, sniff & taste things before buying.
