Excellent worth-while upgrades. Nothing like experience to fine tune a setup. I too am a fan of the OEM Troopy rear bar w/the spare tyre located on its OEM location. Though I wonder how long the plate holder will last in the first sign of corrugation? Maybe design a small bungee cord system to keep the plate from bouncing and be snug. I'd recommend putting boot liner on your camera box. the constant vibration will eventually scratch the body of your (expensive) DSLR and lenses etc. Plus a netting of some sort (maybe 3 or 4 horizontally mounted bungee/shock cord) at the front to prevent it (DSLR) from launching forward, in case of an emergency braking. Fully support you looking after your dog's welfare and happiness first ❤️ I'm sure he'll be better off with you mum 👍
Everything you have mention above is spot on and will definitely adding a few additions to help with the camera and plates ect. Sad to leave Ollie behinds but yeah best for him 😊 thanks for watching mate!

looking forward to see where this lap takes you guys! We're just about to start our lap in earnest, maybe we'll bump into you guys down the road somewhere 🤙
Wildpeak AT suck. I’ve had at least 3 punctures now and they seem to always split making plugging hopeless. Not to mention I just replaced one and they’ve become expensive at $350

Its like getting back to the good old days. So happy for you guys hitting the road again. Can feel your excitement from here and that's great. I am really looking forward to sharing this trip with you on YT. I'm hoping to get more use out of my set up this year as it's been all work, work, work. So you never know possibly paths will cross some where although I won't be hunting you down this time with the van on!!!! The camp trip with your Dad is something I'm really looking forward to seeing. Enjoy and be safe. :)
Thank you! Ah yes we forgot to show that sorry! We have an extra little compartment behind where our clothes are for shoes and the wiring for the compressor and water pump.
Great upgrades! That’s was a very good decision not to take oille. We traveled oz and knew our dog would not cope with the heat and long drive days. Oille sounds like he is living his best life at home as our girl did too.
So good to see you guys with the Troopy again! Sorry for you that Ollie can't come. Looking forward to seeing more of beautiful Australia through your experiences and getting inspired for doing the big lap in the future myself (hopefully).
Looks great. Amazing what a difference the small storage changes can make, you’ve given me some ideas. Not a storage related addition, but something I really like is my new struts on the rear doors. Makes getting out a lot easier as the doors ‘automatically’ fold open, plus very handy if it’s windy or you’re parked on a slight angle.
Love the troopy guys, and the new additions will certainly make your next lap easier and more organised... Looking forward to seeing your new öutside the box"videos... The best of luck on your next lap and stay safe always... looking forward to your coming videos.... Take care guys...
How would you stop the plates from rattling or breaking on those corrugated roads, you could always put tea towels or towels between them cheers love the setup 👍👍At least your big teddy bears is at a safe place where you can visit & take him out when you are in town cheers
Hey guys awesome setup looks super practical and making use of everything! How ‘d you guys go with running the plumbing for the underbody water tank and what did you guys use for a breather?
At the 14:51 mark you showed your collapsible kettle. I have one that is smaller than that and can not find that kettle available any longer on Amazon. I would absolutely LOVE to buy a spare or a larger one like you have. Can you share the link with me, or tell me where I can buy the one you have? VERY NICE RIG! Just finding your channel now.
Awesome as always, loving the setup... we are heading north mid May for 3 weeks 🥳, hope to see you guys on the road, if not safe travels... we are finally doing the GRR or as much as we can....
Great work guys, been awesome following your travels, have learnt a lot and added a lot to our list of places to visit when we head off. All the best with this next adventure. :)

Honestly, we still do not know what to buy after the IVECO is out for now. Possibly also a UNIMOG, however here we must invest also still really much money. We'll see which solving is on the doorstep at some time. For now, we have to wait and see what happens with the price of diesel, currently you don't need to go very far, much too expensive. Many thanks to Mr. Pution and oil companies, rapacious bloodsuckers. Have fun with the new trip. All the time good journey, no breakdowns, no accident, health, etc.
Great walk around, really liked the setup. The only thing that may give you grief is the camera box, great concept, would consider installing shock absorbing material to cushion the camera & lens(s). It is not the big bumps that destroy cameras, it's the small consistent vibrations. May pay to have a talk with your local photo supplier, for a second opinion. Will miss Olly, hope he responds well to treatment.👍😃
good video!! well done ! what happens when it rains now ? instead of being bombarded inside . does your awning have walls you can setup to make like a awning tent ?
Hey, guys sorry if I missed it but what year is your 78? I am from the US and starting in 2024 the first 78 models will be importable, which I am so excited for.
hey guys, so cool that you're (in Willy Nelson's words) on the road again............but also a bit sad that Olli isn't able to contribute to your adventure but fully understand - having a dog with you also restricts where you can go, love that your dad is keen to do a bit of off road and camping with you - will be a spec time. love the water tank just what I have been looking for - along with the spare wheel bag - so cool, question.....what size tire's did you go for 285 or 265 ??
Hi Steve. Ollie will be a lot happier at megans mums for sure. Can’t wait to head out with dad it’s going to be awesome. The water tank has come up a treat hey! 285/75/16 is what we went with again.
Nice one guys.👍 Good onya for thinking of Ollie's well-being first. I'm sure he appreciates it. A big question mark on how effective that stand up plate holder would cope on rough & corrugated roads tho. How did it go during your short drive? Any issues with clanking & annoying noises coming from that (& your cutlery) drawer? Finally, a portable toilet that doesn't smell? I like the sound of that. Do you mind sharing what brand it is? Looking forward to your new touring adventures. ❤️
So far the plates are ok but we will put some towels in-between when we hit the rougher tracks. Toilet is a porta potti 345 it’s brilliant! Thanks for watching mate. 😊👍
What was the brand of the water tank you got, didn’t quite catch the name?. Would also be good to have links to the product in the description, even if they are affiliate links to help fund your vids and trip 👍
Totally awesome setup. I’m in SEQ. We have two channels Land and Bay Fishing and 4x4 TrekOZ. If you find yourselves in our part of the world I would love two camp a night or two with you guys and trade review type videos. I have a Dmax with a Tommy Camper. Regardless really enjoy your vids. Take care, Wayne Groomes.
I only subscribed yesterday and now Jack's explanation of the tyres, totally lost me. I would love to travel around Australia and see a few things, but theirs SO MUCH to see, where to start? My budget and life expectancy are both limited! Best wishes from Bangkok.
If you’ve had a GVM increase you won’t be able to change to parabolic springs and stay legal without having it recertified. Your bbq still looks like a gas stove
@@65cj55 I’m having a GVM increase through ARB on a brand new Troopcarrier pre registration and it is only suspension and a couple of minor things like class 6 indicators. GVM upgrades don’t all require axles and brakes
@@65cj55 having it “tuned” will make it not compliant to ADRs. And no, you are wrong, all GVM increases don’t require axle and brake changes. I’ve just paid $7k for one and there were no axle or brake changes.
Do you have a mouse trap or two on board. you know never know what might come to set up housekeeping in your Trooper. rats, mice, snakes, etc. ....have head nets for flies. blow up paddle boards. Avoid John Hollands Track. Nasty Nasty. watch THE OUTFIT for their recent Expedition trip on the track.
Even some of the cheap chinese tyres have 3 ply sidewalls (eg Centara). You're paying for so much marketing with the big name brands. I stuck with Maxxis for years for no good reason but after staking a few tyres I've moved to cheap chinese tyres (something like half the cost) and am having a good outcome and it doesnt hurt so much when a tyre gets destroyed.
Hi Guys, you know I always give an honest review so here goes. Great looking water tank and fits that space well, just wish it was further forward under the car. What's with those frilly cushions guys! Jeez, they're just going to get in the way. Don't go all Instagrammy and Influencer on me! Some great ideas used for storage and budget built, the best way to make them. There's going to be a lot of rattling plates and cutlery and breakages with that system. That could be improved. Best decision made was to leave Ollie at home, he would of added an extra 100KG to your car with food, water etc. And he would of restricted you on your travels. Tyres, not my 1st choice but lets see how they perform. Rubbish bag is cool. Travel Buddy is a waste of space, they promote bad eating habits and power hungry. Lithium battery great idea but 2000W inverter will make you want big power items like coffee machines, travel buddy and induction cooking, not essential for camping, 1000W is plenty. I hope you left your weights at home? Didn't see where you store the gas bottle. Well presented info/vid, thanks. Wishing you both a great lap, enjoy. Marty from Perth
Water tanks brilliant and yes your right would have loved to have it more towards the middle. 16 week wait for a tank that fits above the drive shaft. I agree with you on the pillows 😂 you will have to speak to Megan on that one 😂😂. Cutlery did rattle and has ended up going everywhere so need to figure something else out! Would love to have Ollie but yes weight and his medical problems just wasn’t going to work he’s much happier at home. Time will tell with the tyres so far so good but only done 2000kms.... Lithium battery is going to help a heap especially now running two laptop charges , drone battery’s ,camera battery’s constantly. I was waiting to see if anyone would pickup on the gas bottle. Have not found a spot for it yet so if you have any ideas let me know. Thanks again Marty we appreciate your support mate!
@@itsJackandMegan Hi guys this is Marty's wife Sally and I just want to say that Im so embarrassed by Marty's comments and complaints! He's too brutally honest and can't seem to make suggestions tactfully. And I call him the Weight Nazi - jeez poor Ollie being dissed due to being a big dog. Anyway we do enjoy watching you guys and maybe we will cross paths out on those tracks one day. Oops better go as M is returning from the loo. 😆

Thanks for letting me know mate very interesting! 👍😊
how much total investment? 🤑
♥️
😊👍
Why is it called a troopy?
That's because the vehicle is a Toyota Landcruiser Troop Carrier (aka 78 Series Landcruiser), and it's colloquially known as a "Troopy"
@@martysib6547 😂😂😂 we love Marty’s comments. Thanks Sally would be great to see you guys on the road!!
