Hey mate cheers!! They are custom made fibreglass ones that a bloke used to make for Toyota dealers. In Perth Unfortunately he has retired now. But arb are very similar I believe 😊
Did you have to get engineering certification from DOT WA? The front passenger side in the troopy would've been a 3/4 bench seat. Got a 1995 75 Series RV (10 seater; 3 up front, 3 across the middle and 4 at the very back on 2 side facing benches. Looking to do what you've done, i.e. 2 aftermarket front seats from Stratos.
@@eaglen00b hi mate funny you mention that. The seats are all fitted properly with proper adaptors ect When it went over the pits for the alucab conversion nothing was said so I kept it that way. Engineering the seats will be on the cards later down the track.
Hi Maxine they are Camp Cover brand. A company in Perth WA called Quick Pitch sell them. quickpitch.com.au We have the door storage system 4 set and 6 set. They have really come in handy!
Love your videos and subscribed. Great setup. I’m pretty sure the gas bottle on the back is illegal as it’s in the impact zone so you might get stung for that.
How difficult is installing the alucab extension? If I'm buying a troopy I want that modification, but I'm not sure if it'll be easy to install and will it be worth it..
Hi, I’m retiring next year and my wife and I were wondering what drone and editing program you use so we can make some videos of our trip around Australia for my daughters and grandkids of our travels , any info would be greatly appreciated, thanks Laurie and Sabine from Darwin 👍😃
Hi how you going mate. We use a program called premier pro. With a bit of UA-cam tutorials you will be a pro in no time. Mavic pro is what we use for our drone setup but would recommend the newer mavic pro 2. They have inbuilt sensors so it makes it pretty hard to crash. Thanks mate enjoy.

hi guys, just started to watch your vids, really good stuff. i have a 94 troopie same motor so appreciate your comments re being slow but dependable. have you considered adding a turbo? - your thoughts??? I noticed the coils up front was that a mod you did or is your troopie a later model. lastly, re the visor - do you get much wind noise from it? keep up the great content, Cheers!!
Hey mate thanks for watching! If you own a troopy with the same engine you will know all about how slow it is 😅 I have considered it but honestly I’m pretty happy with how it performs the reliability is what I was after! Coils up front came out in the troopys from 99-2005 with the 1hz , fte , current vdj The visor is a gem we love it and there is no wind resistance or noise! 😄
Thanks mate appreciate it! We don't have a solid end date but I'd say we will be back to Perth in about 5-6 months time. Definitely keen for another lap though 😂
@@russelllander4590 hopefully the prices of the troopys don’t skyrocket like they have been it’s pretty crazy what some people are paying these days but I guess it is what it is.
Good vehicle, although there is always something to improve. What bothers me personally: 1) Gullwing left, the sealant inside, does not look clean and nice. 2) Furniture, always avoid "corners" that protrude into the room. Cabinet opposite the bench, the thigh will thank you. 3) Material furniture, in inserer region, Germany/Europe it is possibly somewhat more humid. Therefore, we prefer a slightly different surface. Example, 5mm birch plywood, glued with RESOPAL, there are all colors and different wood tones. Advantage, cheap, light, stable, does not absorb moisture and therefore does not warp. Every carpenter presses the boards with a heating press. Then you have a thickness of about 6.8mm. Fits perfectly into the CaseMaker aluminum profiles from which cases for musical instruments, etc. are built. Due to the double aluminum angle rail, you get a much higher stability in the furniture. When driving off-road you notice this. We have our Defender HT, removed with it 13 years ago. Still no warpage, cracks, etc.! 4) Travel Buddy in furniture, well, what about heat generation (fire hazard)? 5) Porta Potti, my wife has learned to do outside or somewhere else. Don't want that in the vehicle, absolute no go. Otherwise, good base, enjoy your travels. If possible without damage and bush repairs.
Hi mate thanks for the comment, exactly the kind of feedback we are after! The gullwing on the left is made by myself and some mates yes the seal inside is very ugly but hey you learn from your mistakes! In saying that it is holding up surprisingly well. The wood used is a high grade marine ply which has been sealed also. The ply is a combination of 16mm and 11mm (Next time I would go for a full aluminium fit out but that would be a lot of $$$$) so far the wood is holding up well especially over corrugations and rough terrain. Might be a different story when I come across some over bonnet water crossings. As for the travel buddy it is very very well insulated and have had it running for up to 4 hours at a time at 200 degrees and the only way the heat escapes is from some small vents at the front. There is a tiny amount of heat inside the cabinet but absolutely nothing to worry about (so far) but I do keep an eye on it while it is in use. Porta potti is only there as it is a requirement here in Australia in certain national parks/campsites we are not allowed to enter with out it in the car, we will be making a video shortly in regards to all of this. It’s not used inside the car, only stored :) Thanks again, Jack and Megan
@@itsJackandMegan Good morning you two and happy Easter. Why I like to look at this in detail, I come from the motorhome building segment. First learned profession. OK, I understood the background (toilet), and it makes sense. Although I did get a disgust during my apprenticeship. Furniture and the special plywood (moisture) also makes sense. But I think the weight per square metre is significantly higher. Travel Buddy, or other appliances such as baking oven, heating, etc., having seen several burnt out vehicles, this is always critical for me. About your idea, furniture made of aluminium. That's not bad, but it also has disadvantages. Temperature fluctuations, condensation and weight. We also see this in the Landy, with some metal parts. EXTEC in Germany builds such furniture for the Landy. You can get some ideas on the home page. Connection of the furniture to the vehicle. It has proved useful to bolt the furniture only to the vehicle floor. Not additionally to the side wall. Sealing Gullwing, well, nobody can do it really well the first time. You can get a smooth, clean surface with soapy water (spray bottle) even on your finger. Very popular is the sealant and adhesive from SIKAFLEX, top quality. I also use it to glue airline rails. However, everything has to be very clean. Last point, pop-up roof and colour. We also have it on the Landy and it can get very warm inside. Therefore, I would consider painting the roof in a light colour in the future. Maybe in the colour of the car? Black is not the best choice for sunlight, as it generates too much heat. So, enough babbling for today. I have to kick my wife out of bed now. Have a good trip and stay healthy. Greetings Jens
@@jensstrang1501 happy Easter mate and thanks for the reply greatly appreciated. Will definitely take your knowledge and apply to future builds. Anyways almost dinner time here so time to get the bbq out. Jack and Megan.
@@itsJackandMegan If I notice anything, I'll add my comments. In German: "Den Senf dazu abgeben". Have a good time and watch out for the nice little pets (spiders). The alarm system (screaming) has already worked well! We were thrilled.....
Regarding 5)...Sometimes, depending on where you are traveling, you must be "Self-contained" and the national parks won't let you stay overnight unless you have one of these. Total respect for your wife!
I will add if you can give a rough $ for everything. I'm watching your video, then I have to click a link or Google search to find out $. Just mention "it's around the xx$ when we bought it".

Love your set up. After traveling a while with the Engel, would you still keep the same size or go larger? Trying to decide between that size combi or the 75ltr combi 🤔
Definitely wouldn’t go bigger we had a 75lt and sold it to go with the 60lt 👍
@@itsJackandMegan thanks for your reply. It’s good to hear info from someone in similar situation 😊
@@kyliescanlon6582 no worries at all!
Nice rig mate. Quick question, what flares do you have there on the troopy?
Hey mate cheers!!
They are custom made fibreglass ones that a bloke used to make for Toyota dealers. In Perth Unfortunately he has retired now. But arb are very similar I believe 😊
@@itsJackandMegan Bummer. But hey what offset are you running on those rims?
Great set up 👍
What sort of price were the seats? I need something like that, cheers
Thanks mate.
The seats are around the $4500 mark for the pair new.
But if your lucky you could score them secondhand for around $1000-2000
@@itsJackandMegan nice-one thank you 🙏🏻
Did you have to get engineering certification from DOT WA? The front passenger side in the troopy would've been a 3/4 bench seat. Got a 1995 75 Series RV (10 seater; 3 up front, 3 across the middle and 4 at the very back on 2 side facing benches.
Looking to do what you've done, i.e. 2 aftermarket front seats from Stratos.
@@eaglen00b hi mate funny you mention that.
The seats are all fitted properly with proper adaptors ect When it went over the pits for the alucab conversion nothing was said so I kept it that way. Engineering the seats will be on the cards later down the track.
Hi. What brand/company are your storage bags that are Velcroed to the underside of your bed. Thanks.
Hi Maxine they are Camp Cover brand. A company in Perth WA called Quick Pitch sell them.
quickpitch.com.au
We have the door storage system 4 set and 6 set. They have really come in handy!
Love your videos and subscribed. Great setup. I’m pretty sure the gas bottle on the back is illegal as it’s in the impact zone so you might get stung for that.
Thanks mate! Yeah it’s something we’ll definitely not be doing on the next build. Thanks for watching
How difficult is installing the alucab extension? If I'm buying a troopy I want that modification, but I'm not sure if it'll be easy to install and will it be worth it..
We had it done by professionals at Ironman 4x4. We feel it would be quite a risky job to do personally.
@@itsJackandMegan thanks heaps mate, I really appreciate you replying, I’ll check it out, we can’t wait to hit the road, we enjoy your videos, keep them coming and safe travels , thanks Laurie and Sabine
@@itsJackandMegan going to get the manic pro 2, thanks heaps, stay safe and safe travels 👍
Mavic pro 2 🙈
The Dream 🤤😍
Thanks mate!
how to build that top roof ?
Really nice setup. I am in Perth myself, same make model. Where did you get the GVM upgrade from?
Thanks mate.
The kit was from shoreline 4x4 In Osborne park.
@@itsJackandMegan Thanks for the information.
Awesome Job !.... Super easy setup. Are you running -22 offsets ?
Thanks mate they are a 16/8 -22 rim
Just wanted to say I found you from ABC’s Media Watch. F@ck Nine! I’m subscribing and look forward to enjoying your videos. Great truck btw
Hey mate thanks for watching 😊
We think you may have us confused with overland travellers, they make fantastic videos. What a current affair did was not good!
@@itsJackandMegan My bad. Still a great truck!
Too lovely 👌
Thanks mate
hi guys, just started to watch your vids, really good stuff. i have a 94 troopie same motor so appreciate your comments re being slow but dependable. have you considered adding a turbo? - your thoughts??? I noticed the coils up front was that a mod you did or is your troopie a later model. lastly, re the visor - do you get much wind noise from it?
keep up the great content, Cheers!!
Hey mate thanks for watching!
If you own a troopy with the same engine you will know all about how slow it is 😅
I have considered it but honestly I’m pretty happy with how it performs the reliability is what I was after!
Coils up front came out in the troopys from 99-2005 with the 1hz , fte , current vdj
The visor is a gem we love it and there is no wind resistance or noise! 😄
thanks, appreciate the quick reply. what brand is the visor?
@@steve-deltasdad3906 I think it is a genuine Toyota visor but have seen ones for sale on eBay.
thanks mate, keep up the good work. 😎😎
cheers
Hi guys, really love the van set-up, you two are pretty cool as well 👍 how long are you travelling for?
Thanks mate appreciate it! We don't have a solid end date but I'd say we will be back to Perth in about 5-6 months time. Definitely keen for another lap though 😂
Yet to complete a full one hoping that will change next year when the borders re open! Will be looking for a decent troopy then!
@@russelllander4590 hopefully the prices of the troopys don’t skyrocket like they have been it’s pretty crazy what some people are paying these days but I guess it is what it is.
Hoping it’s just the pandemic - is like to think they’re will be a lot more on the market next year!
So what years is it?
2005 😊
Good vehicle, although there is always something to improve.
What bothers me personally:
1) Gullwing left, the sealant inside, does not look clean and nice.
The ply is a combination of 16mm and 11mm
(Next time I would go for a full aluminium fit out but that would be a lot of $$$$) so far the wood is holding up well especially over corrugations and rough terrain.
It’s not used inside the car, only stored :)
Thanks again, Jack and Megan
The one person who disliked this video was last seen trying to cross a puddle in his Great Wall 4wd...
😂😂 good one mate that’s gold

I will add if you can give a rough $ for everything. I'm watching your video, then I have to click a link or Google search to find out $. Just mention "it's around the xx$ when we bought it".
Will keep that in mind mate might make a video in the future in regards to how much each item costs and how its going quality wise😊
