    Aw that was so cute, you know they are different when they did not scream their heads off all the way being carried. And I guess they were very hot and the wallow was very welcome but they also didn't even check for danger, so relaxed.

    What fun watching the piglets! Charlie and the other girls made me laugh right out loud. If I could raise any kind of animals, it would be IPP’s. You can tell how knowledgeable the breeders are too. The piglets will be raised with love and care on your farm as are all of your animals. God Bless you all.

    You guys are sooooo good to your animals. I just love you guys! Not many homesteaders realize the extreme importance of a wallow for pigs. They do not sweat that is how they cool off. They love mud because it protects them from the insects. Thank you for all of your teachings Living Traditions Homestead. For animals and canning the best at explaining everything you show. I am from Wisconsin and I will have to check these guys out.

    I learned a lesson about giving veggies out of the garden to a cow today. I was picking okra and tomatoes, trimming leaves and cleaning up. Our 14 month old Charolais bull was walking along the cattle panel fence, getting snacks. I just made sure everything made it across the fence, petted him a few minutes and came in to cool off.
    Boy was I surprised to find that he decided that he wasn't finished. He had pushed over the top of a cattle panel and eaten the top out of several plants. They look like someone used a hedge trimmer. I think they'll recover but he learned a bad habit. I've built an ugly obstacle course to keep him away from the garden when he's in that pasture. He's a big baby and never challenges fences but evidently he NEEDED more okra.

      @@carlinkay1151 It's still growing and putting out new leaves. It was only 3 plants out of 40 so no serious harm. I was annoyed but had to laugh.

    • @leannekenyoung
      @leannekenyoung 3 роки тому +1

      Me too! I think she’s an excellent representative for the breed! She’s very well spoken and she’s absolutely right when she says what to look for and it starts at the feet. Also for a city gal that will never probably have a homestead or farm I thought it was very insightful to look at the pig from the point of view of eating! I mean it just makes sense when you think about it and I’m sure our ancestors just knew that instinctively but our generation have become sooo disconnected from our food that we don’t know to look at that. I think with Kayla working with this IPP breed they will go a long way into growing it and it will prosper. Also Kevin and Sara really seem to me to be researchers and would have looked into every aspect of having pigs and which ones would be right for them. I thought it was interesting when Kevin said about not taking on a pig because he seems sick or not doing well in hopes you can make it better. I haven’t seen them on very much and I wondered what had become of their pigs the last time I remember seeing them they had them in pens right by the barn and had Mildred and Murdle who they tried to get pregnant and one just never would, I think it went somewhere else and they had one pig that was skittish I’m not sure if that was Ginger or not but if it was she sure got a lot larger!!

    They are beautiful and fit in with the homestead. I think you should name them Thelma and Louise.

    when kayla stressed "bacon", boy she won me over! those IPP's seem to be the ideal pigs and duck creek pastures seems like a great outfit to work with. thanks for a great video and for the intro to both the IPP's and duck creek pastures!
