***** About Living Traditions Homestead *****
Living Traditions Homestead is all about living a simple and sustainable way of life. We believe the world has gotten too “busy” and that people are missing out on many of the true blessings this world has to offer. We started as a small urban homestead in Gilbert, AZ and after the city grew up around us, decided it was time leave corporate America and take a big leap of faith by moving our family to the Missouri Ozarks.
We put out 2 new videos every week! Wednesday and Saturday. We hope you will become part of our homestead family by subscribing to our channel and watching as we give up the rat race and live simpler, more fulfilling life in the country.

I'm sorry to hear that two piglets didn't make it, but the six that survived are absolutely beautiful. They're precious. And Myrtle is such an awesome mama.
Isn't it amazing that God gives these animals the instincts they need to survive and to care for their babies and continue their species? And the babies, even those without their mother's influence, can react the way the animal should? Cats are a prime example. Their instincts come out regardless of whether the mother was there or not. I know, because I've had to hand-raise abandoned stray kittens. I call that miraculous.

Everything looks great in Piggy land! (Quail land too!) If you have a chance one day, would you scan around the orchard trees so we can see what they're looking like now. I remember when you planted them but I don't think I've seen them since then. Thanks!

Awe how cute is that! I'm sure Myrtle is happy the birthing part is behind her. You said piglets scream a little, that is an understatement for sure. I was up 2 nights with 9 sows who all decided to go in labor, first time moms and I had to pull a bunch of them. We also had to call out the vet because one had a huge pig stuck in the birth canal. Farm life can be tough.

My family raised pigs when I was a teen. We found it much easier to move pigs with pieces of plywood that we put hand holes into. They were easily portable and reasonably light. Because pigs have such low centers of gravity and such strong snouts, they don’t go anywhere they don’t want to. A solid piece in front of them helps move them around much easier.

NO FAKE!!!! This is EXACTLY how we move a new piece of equipment into an area. If it can’t handle it… we will tell you! This is truly the quality test we farmers do for equipment…. Equipment makers.. take note!

I never realized how curious farm animals could be. It's so fun to watch them watching you two work and checking things out. Congrats on the little piglets!
