I actually drive one of these at work occasionally as it's in our government fleet. It's a solid car for its intended purpose.

I've got the plug-in hybrid version, quiet, goes great ...especially as the speed rises, I'm sure the low drag makes itself obvious with it's ability to just continue to accelerate. Handling is super composed, honestly if anyone says any different they're a race car driver or they're full of it. Up to quite insane road speeds these things are stable and sticky and go where you point them, the suspension is plush ...maybe not a million dollar plush, but very good nevertheless. They're beautifully quiet inside. I had an Audi S3 before this.

I owned the 2019 Hybrid Blue and used it to do Uber work for 65,000 miles. It was really an amazing car. To ever criticize it for not being a sports car is ridiculous because this is the mpg King of hybrids, emphasis being fuel economy. 58 m.p.g.!!! and I got as high as 69.5 mpg once which is just utterly stupendous. Hats off to Hyundai for engineering an almost perfect car. I can honestly recommend this car. The best warranty and the only car that can jump start inself. It's not a premium car but for the best value for the money, you can't beat this car! I drive my mother's Prius sometimes and I prefer the Hyundai Ioniq. Less expensive, better mpg, Android auto and Apple car play, I prefer the dual clutch transmission that Hyundai uses, it's unnoticeable when it switches between gas and battery mode. I prefer the interior layout and exterior over the Prius. For me the Ioniq is the clear winner. One thing that I loved was no rattling anywhere in this car and waiting at a stop sign, it was perfectly silent, I truly loved that. Most might not be aware but this car has the ability, via your own USB stick, to upload music into the car's internal memory bank. Best car I ever owned.

Having the Niro which has the same platform, I can confirm that temperature does impact fuel economy. When it was cold, I'd get mid 30s, but when it was warm, I'd get closer or better than rated.

Because the hybrid version of this and the Niro (at least at the time) do not have a heat pump, It has to run the engine to make heat. It's not ideal, but on short trips I often keep the climate control off and use the heated seat and steering wheel instead. When I do this the MPG is the same as it would be on a warm day (I'm also in a part of Canada where temps often go to 14F in winter). In the video he complains that it's not getting the mileage it should be. I think it's obvious that when constantly revving it out like that, you'll burn more fuel. When driving normally I consistently get 58MPG, sometimes higher if I'm actually trying. As far as the "rattle" at start-up, it sometimes does a sweep of the primary electric motor to confirm functionality on start-up. That's all I hear.

I have a 2019 plug in hybrid version . I can go about 29 miles on electric and my work round trip is 24 miles so I go to work and back in ev only mode . In sports mode it is pretty quick for the type of car it is .

I have a 2017 model of the hybrid. Bought new. Since the day I drove off from the dealership, my mpg has always been over at least 52. On a couple of long trips driving across several states, the last one this summer between L. A.(CA) and Oklahoma City (OK) , via San Antonio (TX) , I have achieved 63mpg going about 75 mph on long streches of highways. In city driving my mpg is at least 52. I love the range, (even when loaded with my wife, kids and 4 pieces of luggage) allows me between 560 to 580 miles on a tank of gas.

You are right about the cold weather and lower MPG. That is a quirk that affects all hybrids in general, not only the Ioniq.
I own a white 2020 Ioniq Limited. When turning on the heater with a cold engine, the Ioniq has to turn on the gasoline engine to heat up the cabin. That also lowers the average MPG. So, I usually keep the heater off and use only the heated seat until the engine is warmed up.

Only drove it until it showed 70kms or 44miles on the tacho today but overall happy. Gotta break it in for 600miles now and then floor it.

Depends how you drive really . Seems to me you need to sharpen up your driving skills and learn the curves of the roads with driving with wind or against and knows the speeds off a read light and to a red light young one .not sure of driving for dummies will help but definitely check it out bro

Over 30K for a car like this with barely any power? I understand not everyone needs a powerful car but with 139 horsepower is unsafe by today’s standards. Can’t even merge onto the highway safely or speed up safely

"Unsafe" is ridiculous. Maybe you don't have the engine loafing around, like most Americans are used to with their giant and wasteful engines that they'll never crack open the throttle on, but outside of highway mergers, you're never going to use all the power even of something like this, whose 0-60 is the same as my '06 Forester (while using about half the fuel), which I rarely ever need to full throttle, either.

The hybrid battery goes to an electric motor that adds more power. I like the 2.5 liter Mazda engine with no turbocharger, it has enough power and good gas mileage. The Ford Escape with an inline 3 turbo engine is about as fast with better gas mileage, however it does not steer as well and seems more cheap inside. We will test drive the new CX-30 next time.

Hyundai has a 5 year btb warranty and 10 year on the hybrid system, engine, transmission and drive system. I like a Prius, but it's going to be the Ioniq for me.

@@alh06 I can't deny you are right but I'm getting to the age that most likely, I wouldn't wear out either one. The reason for the Ioniq is not only the warranty, but if you buy the limited, it has all the bells and whistles that does not come with the Prius. I like the look a bit better as well and the standard transmission as opposed to the ECTV. That said, I'm sure I'd be happy with either.
