Academy 1/72 B-17F Flying Fortress Full Build

This is my entry for the B17 Group Build hosted by Jason #ModelkitStuff. It is my first attempt at a group build which probably explains why I dropped the model twice during painting, cracked the canopy and damaged a decal. This kit was a new tool in 1988 and compared with the Airfix and Revell offerings, which I see others building, has very little internal detail. Externally though it has lots of fine recessed panel lines which are up to modern standards.

Good luck. The exterior is nicely detailed but I found the interior lacking in detail...however I made such a mess of the canopies you can't see anything inside mine.

doing the same kit at the moment for my son , what colour did you use for the cockpit ? and can you fit turrets after its buttoned up ? than k you , cracking job that !!!! ....Shaun.

Tamiya XF-71 for cockpit colour. You can fit turrets at end but I did remove the locating pins for underside ball turret before fixing in place.

Wow, what colors did you use for the outer green?

I use Tamiya XF paints. Initially it was olive drab xf-62 but I felt it needed "greening" up so used olive green xf-58 to provide the variation.

機首の航法士用机は木製ですね。国籍マークの色味が紺色でなくブルーなのが不思議でした。

I'm sure you are correct. It certainly seems that way now I've watched other builds but the kit instructions didn't mention it. The blue of the decals did seem a bit unusual but that's why I chose them over the more conventional scheme.
