Yes, he did. And this was Morita's best non-Karate Kid role. And the funniest of all in this scene, Peter Boyle Chief Orman, the way he kept purposely refusing to answer Cage's requests about Tommy Corman
Yeah, lol 😆 😂 As angry as Cage was getting, it was so funny the way Chief Orman kept refusing to answer Cage asking about Tommy Corman, and how Miyagi wouldn't drive him to Corman. They weren't being mean about it, they were just strictly ordered by Corman to keep Cage away (and I don't think that they wanted to disobey Corman since they probably knew he had a gang of mobsters on his side). But eventually Mahi Mahi stopped going along with Corman and felt bad for Cage with all that had happened to him.
we were in Kauai, and at some gift shop the person who worked there mentioned the five pools that we should go see, and I nearly bust my gut trying not to fall on the floor laughing!!!! We have seen this movie a million times, and that scene with Chief Ormand from Young Frankenstein and etc. and Nicholas Cage and Pat Morita is something you can die laughing from!!! hahaha....Hope we can go back to Kauai and see the five pools again!!!! Peter Boyle...RIP. Love Adaptation too.
"Boy the women when they come here, oh they get crazy. They like freaky freaky all night long" lmao! Also love the dog and chickens running around when they pull up to Chief Orman's XD
I read somewhere years ago (don't know it it is true or not) that the movie's Director meant Chief Orman to be a spoof of Marlin Brando. Regardless of the truth of this rumor, I find this scene much funnier in that context.
Hey Guys, watch Honeymoon in Vegas and Leaving Las Vegas back to back and pretend that Nic Cage's character is the same character in both movies while watching....
It can't be, because in the beginning of Leaving Las Vegas, Cage's character's background is explained, and there's no way that it can correspond with Cage's New York character in Honeymoon in Vegas, the two different stories are just too different
Yes, it is funny. Also funny is "you find Chief Orman attractive?" Lol. This is one of those times with a guy asking another guy that question without any hint of homosexuality in it, because of the particular funny way the scene went, the particular goofy type of character Chief Orman is, and with the way it's played out where both Orman and Pat Morita's character is saying anything to avoid talking about Tommy Corman. Like also when Cage asks him about Tommy Corman, Orman refuses to answer and just starts asking about musicals like Grand hotel and then starts singing songs from South Pacific (and also funny: Cage: "where's the bathroom?" And then we gotta get OUT OF HERE!!!" Morita: "OKAY!"). Since one of Tommy's goons tells Morita to keep Cage away from Tommy, it's funny the way Morita keeps trying to avoid taking Cage to Tommy's. The movie didn't show this, but Morita must've gotten out of the cab somewhere for a minute after picking Cage up from airport to call Cheif Orman to tell him that they're on their way and to go along with him on avoiding to talk about Tommy Corman to Cage, and to talk about anything but Tommy. All those things really made these scenes hilarious. Very funny stuff! Lol. (Morita: "parakeet brandy" Cage: "are you serious!?") What's wrong with parakeet brandy?
"MA HILAYA WAK ILAYA!!!" "Ma Hilaya Wak Ilaya... Mahila Wakilaya -Yeah! " "That goes DOUBLE for me Chief!..." BAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!! This is one of the funniest scenes ever. My girlfriend and I used to replay this part of the dvd over and over again!!! Try watching it when you're drunk!!! Hahaha!
I totally see eye to eye with you on this subject! I remember thinking the Oscar prestige died back when Shakespeare in Love won Best Picture in 1999. Up until then, I would watch every year with great excitement. I swear since then I have not given a damn about any award show because it's not worth anything when the nominees are all a joke. What happened to movies like Forrest Gump, E.T., etc.? Musicians like Michael Jackson and Hall & Oates? Nowadays I can't even sit through a movie at home!
One of Cage's best films.
This is one of my favorite movies ever. I laugh until I cry every single time I watch it.
Influence? He lives in a SHACK!!!!
He's a man of great simplicity.
Nicolas Cage basically took a pretty standard romantic comedy and turned it into comedy gold!
Yes, he did. And this was Morita's best non-Karate Kid role. And the funniest of all in this scene, Peter Boyle Chief Orman, the way he kept purposely refusing to answer Cage's requests about Tommy Corman
This has to be Nicolas Cage at his sarcastic best, lol!!
Oh, man..classic. RIP Pat Morita and Peter Boyle :(
why can't Cage make comedies anymore. he's freaking great in them
"Listen Mahi, I don't have time for this HORSESHIT!" lol love it.
"DO YOU FIND CHEIF ORMAN ATTRACTIVE???" (Best line ever!)
"You're a very striking figure Chief...If by 'Attractive' you mean..."
Hahaha!
“…. Gotta get OUTTA HERE!!!”
Oh man I’m cryyyin 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yeah, lol 😆 😂

"Listen, Mahi, I don't have time for this HORSESHIT!"
He lives in a SHACK!!!
My favorite Nick Cage moment ever!!!
ABSOLUTELY
Best line in the whole movie: "He lives in a shack." hahahaq
I wish Cage would make movies like this again.
Influence?...He lives in a SHACK!
Every line in this clip is hilarious.
Even gestures and facial expressions are classic.
Mr. Myagi's face at 2:18 is priceless.
Weeellll...Oki!!!

This is one of the absolute best parts of the film - the best part is when the chief sings "Happy talk", lol
"WE GOTTA GET OUTTA HERE" LMFAO!!!!!!

100% the best part. Have had it memorized for years. lol
He lives in a SHACK!!!
That’s because, and I quote, “He is a man of great simplicity” 🤣
"Boy the women when they come here, oh they get crazy. They like freaky freaky all night long" lmao! Also love the dog and chickens running around when they pull up to Chief Orman's XD

My Auntie knew the woman who owned this house. The Owner, She said it was great lettin em use the place for the movie. So authentic.

Holy crap! I’ve watched this movie a bunch of times and I never realized that was Frank from Everybody Loves Raymond!
Well everybody loves that one chief. 🙋🏻♂️

Wow... Thank you.

Hilarious!!
He says "We Got 2 Get OuttaHere"!!!
"Parakeet brandy......Are you serious?".....fucking hysterical!
What is parakeet brandy?
Cage's delivery here was basically the prototype for how Ross and Chandler from Friends delivered their lines.
One of my favorite clips!
Everybody are so friendly here!!
i love how he runs to the car ..lol
3:40 funniest line reading EVER!!!

Yeah, especially the way Chief Orman kept deliberately refusing to answer Cage's questions about where Tommy Corman was
I totally see eye to eye with you on this subject! I remember thinking the Oscar prestige died back when Shakespeare in Love won Best Picture in 1999. [Sneering Imperialist] Wow, people here are so backwards. Can't even speak English right, no, not even my own taxi cab driver.
Not the best comedy/romance I've seen but still great movie.
The Ending with flying Elvises was brilliant and very hilarious
