This is just incredible! This was not cheap. They spent a pretty penny on this ad, and the production is near film quality. The edge and grit is so good. I love how Elektron has shown so much love for their beloved Octatrack. Truly one of the most unique pieces of gear in the last few decades.
Such good memories. This video takes me back to the butterflies/excitement i had when i was awaiting delivery of my first elektron boxes (a4 mk1 and OT mk1) about a decade ago. Thanks so much Elektron and the wonderful people involved with this company. thanks for bringing more joy and inspiration to my life through your creations
Its incredible how much the world has changed in just 10 years, I really miss the concept of Hector (or shall we say Cenk) for Elektron devices and this ad had influences of The Matrix, Blade Runner and the Apple 1984 Ad. The face melting thing would probably be seen as too crude/violent for todays audience and reveals just how hardcore the original elektron team and users were.
Dear all that is unholy, it's 07/30/2023, I was always hesitant on getting the Octatrack MKII. Waiting for a new model or it's replacement. Already have the RTYM MKII and the Analog IV MKII, I was reluctant to get it. The first week was tough. The second week I began to see a small glimmer of light navigating it's complexity. Three months later, I'm blown away by it's capabilities. Don't believe the hype. It's no where as complex as people say it is (the Korg Kronos... that's complex). I can not believe a machine, this old, can be so incredible versatile. I'm only using it as a drum machine, sampler, a mixer, and midi controller. It can do so much more. It's so capable I will probably never realize it's full potential. I'm lucky to have gotten an Octatrack. Sure it's dated in some departments but it's a machine that is a solution to so many problems. The Octatrak simply has no equal because it has a large array of interconnections that gives it so much wonderful complexity.
basically the "classic" :-) Alongside the Demon Video that announced the Analog Four this one is one of the best Announcement videos for a product i have EVER seen !!! Miss those days, but i can understand why the rest of the videos werent that "huge". I dont want to know how much the production for those videos was back at that time ...
Love this, the Octatrack itself is a banger, had the joy of playing with it a whole lot and it truly is the next generation of hardware samplers, the OS isn't entirely finished though and there are a few bugs but Elektron has been very quick to respond with bug fixes/updates for the 0.99 OS. Waiting eagerly for the last pieces to fall into place in 1.00 :)
Wow, I want to see the full length movie, PLEASE; this is much too good to be a promotional trailer!!! Hector, the hero with a smirk to die for, must needs be in it, he will be the next Rutger Hauer, BRILLIANT acting. Shades of Equilibrium, Blade Runner and Dark City. Aaaw, come on, get a budget and make it a movie! The best and most frustrating piece of advertising I've ever seen...
I visualize a time when we will be to robots what dogs are to humans, and I'm rooting for the machines. And to Kola Krauze - Awesome performance Brow! =) looking forward too seeing the sequel!
Hector is back! Just awesome! You just make the best promotion videos! The beginning reminds me a lot of David Finchers Seven. I can see some Blade Runner influences as well. Cheers Dennis
Love the nod to Blade Runner, "I've heard things you people wouldn't believe" as opposed to "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe". Best promo vids EVER.
I don't know, after all being a small niche group, I rather appreciate the craziness of this add. doesn't tell me anything about the machine but hell its fun.
Damn! Love it! It rips Blade Runner and The Usual Suspects, got a cool twist and is basically saying even tone deaf people can make music that turns a crowd into face melting zombie freaks! What more could you want from advert?
fantastic trailer . But i have a question : music in film is made with an octatrack ... yes, i understand that, but the sounds (samples) are included inside octatrack ? or are samples from another source ?
it may come with some sample (no pun intended ;) ) factory sounds included, but you can use samples from any number of outside sources AFAIK... sky is the limit. I guess you can also load samples via USB connection and it has a memory card slot.
A far a reliablity goes the Krg electribes do suffer from knob/encoder jitter eventually as well as the conductors wearing out on the metal pads But they are built well and will last a long time, i had an emx for 6 years without 1 problem hardware or O.S.
Not subscribing to any OT hype hollywood style but looking forward to the actual release and update... seems the OT won't have Midi sequencing until update early in 2011... & after reading latest on the elektron homepage I suspect that there won't be a manual until they actually finish the OS... ie - notice the big gap in the number of machines that will be available at initial release? Anyway u look at it a modern day sampler is rare enough to get away with flashy marketing... good luck!
-Also the korgs are very advanced a way better value I think, you can do parameter loks as you can step edit the automation you do or (motion seq) as korg like to call it. However the Elektons are way more advanced.
@Ladytigre55 I agree, although wouldn't hector be the villain? Of course the movie couldn't really be about the octatrack, but it could make a cameo appearance. But the sci-fi setting is pretty good.
@castaglow While i think the electribes..had emx and got es even thought about the sx, are great products that are very reliable, and the o.s works pretty much 100%, you get what you pay for generally. Korgs dsp filters etc are no where close to stuff found on Elektrons offerings, the seq is a different world. But if you want basic and reliable korgs deff are a great option.

I would like to hear that dubstep track from beginning to end. :)
@aikighost Like I said, it didn't work for me but does for you, congratulations, it's too subjective to debate. But I experienced it, tried it, and if I want to go slagging it off, at least can I speak from experience. But you are criticising the OT without having used it yourself, so your comments are unfounded. You're essentially calling me a poser, but I use mine in a studio, on my own - so who am I posing too, myself? The guys at Elektron are genius's, andl really nice people too.
@aikighost The videos I agree, are typical 4/4, same old techno blah blah, and do not do it justice - and that's my point, you can't judge the OT from this, because it has not been seen in the hands of someone who is taking it's usage beyond standard dance music . The majority of videos on here of people using grooveboxes, MPCs, Roland MC808s, Yamaha SU700s, etc etc are the same old crap. That doesn't make the machines bad, its the people using them that aren't pushing the limits.
Acting - great
Story - great
Photography - great
Octatrack - best electronic musical instrument ever made

Hands down the best piece of advertising for a groovebox sampler of all time.

its amazing
Vibes of Jacob’s Ladder in there too. Amazing promo

great video - i think it's one of the best synth commercials i've ever seen.
I’ve owned the OT mk2 for 5 years but I’m only just seeing this! Epic. Has Chris Cunningham aesthetic too (if no one has mentioned that already)
That's the coolest way to promote a musical device I have ever seen!
Death by DJ?....WTF?!!
What the hell kind of music culture consumer message is dat? I friggen' love it!
I agree with the comments. This is an absolutely brilliant piece of advertising for a brilliant piece of kit. You guys are always AMAZING!
can't believe I hadn't seen this before! Probably the best product launch video I've seen. I love my Octatrack!
Same here. Just watched it.
"whats its status?"
"Its over 9000 sir."
very late for the party but I love my Octa and this is so good
Seen the two and I´m hooked! Fascinating and raw. Simple and intriguing. Wish there was more of this!
we watch this video for hundred times and still keep back to it!
they killed it in this video. this is fantastic marketing. way to go elektron.
this may be the coolest promotion video ever made in history!
octatrack is a true art form for sure.

The most amazing sampler ever made !
Definitely the coolest product promo of all time!
This is the most intense product promo I have ever seen. I was not expecting this at all.
elektron you blow my mind
Love this, the Octatrack itself is a banger, had the joy of playing with it a whole lot and it truly is the next generation of hardware samplers, the OS isn't entirely finished though and there are a few bugs but Elektron has been very quick to respond with bug fixes/updates for the 0.99 OS. Brilliant advertising from elektron...!
holyCRAP that was an awesome ad.

At 4:10 I fell of the chair, that is an amazing beat =)
Great product video, kinda the same concept as "The Usual Suspects" except for Kaiser Sosay, this guy is the beatmaker, nice!!
OMG best video on youtube...so good the director of this vid should make a 2 hour movie based on that hector guy....awsome vid..loved it
I visualize a time when we will be to robots what dogs are to humans, and I'm rooting for the machines.
And to Kola Krauze - Awesome performance Brow! =) looking forward too seeing the sequel!
Hector is back!
Just awesome! You just make the best promotion videos! The beginning reminds me a lot of David Finchers Seven. I can see some Blade Runner influences as well.

Its HECTOR!!!!!!!!!!! How fucking cool is that???? You rock Electron!!!!
Graet creative video!!!!
Very impressive!
Love the nod to Blade Runner, "I've heard things you people wouldn't believe" as opposed to "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe". Best promo vids EVER.

Perfect Movie 🎥 🤘🏻
IT'S OVER 9000!!!!!
This was the best scene in the Usual Suspects!!
Amazing video. All hail King Kola!
Its over 9000!!!
Anyone else notice that Hector is blocking out the image from the fly? When his concentration is broken it comes back online.
I don't know, after all being a small niche group, I rather appreciate the craziness of this add. doesn't tell me anything about the machine but hell its fun.
Now that is one wicked ad
Amazing stuff! Now I'd love to see what that device is actually capable of.
Damn! Love it! It rips Blade Runner and The Usual Suspects, got a cool twist and is basically saying even tone deaf people can make music that turns a crowd into face melting zombie freaks! What more could you want from advert?
Yes please!
1 Love...Great acting....where is the movie????
Is a new age...with new revolutionaries....
fantastic trailer . But i have a question : music in film is made with an octatrack ... yes, i understand that, but the sounds (samples) are included inside octatrack ? or are samples from another source ?

I really like this movie!
Movie genre like this should exist for us gear freaks :)
I can se Rodrigez or Tarantino making something like this, LOL!
Amazing video! Elektron wins again :)
I LIKE THAT.
It's built like a goddamn tank is tons of fun to play with and is pretty much unlimited. That is why it doesn't cost $200 like a kaossilator.
Reminds me of a really bad trip but with dope ass musik
A far a reliablity goes the Krg electribes do suffer from knob/encoder jitter eventually as well as the conductors wearing out on the metal pads
But they are built well and will last a long time, i had an emx for 6 years without 1 problem hardware or O.S.
Had mine for 4 days, it's the FUCKING DON!!! Amazing machine.

Very interesting. I'd really like see how it works. (ie. a functionality walk-through)
the loop @ 4:20 is siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiikkkkkkkkkk.
(have an octatrack arriving next week. can't wait to destroy!)
-Also the korgs are very advanced a way better value I think, you can do parameter loks as you can step edit the automation you do or (motion seq) as korg like to call it.
However the Elektons are way more advanced.
I had to comment when he said 'it's over 9000' HA! that's hilarious that a company like Elektron did that
Cool
Fucking excellent marketing by Elektron, fair play. : )
Its the story of attention. And who's shall fade. The Man of the 21st Century. Starting at: "I'm a winner" you say: Ted Lasso is a winner.
Yeah! This is professional marketing 2010. Hope the Octatrack is the same quality! :)
Oh f*ck what a vid !!! awesome promotion! :D
cool im a proud brother !! 4.16-4.19 thats my littlebrother !! lol :)

"show us" "sure, just give me 4 months to study the instruction manual and fight with this PoS"
Great Great
what's the status? It's over 9000, sir!
mental
@Ladytigre55 Yes, and a bit of Jacob's Ladder, too. This is as clever as music product advertisement can get.
Kaiser Hector ..... KAISER HECTOR ....
I heard you REALLY tried to get Liam Neeson in this. Too bad he was doing a gasoline advert at the time 😜
wow!! jut woww haha
@aikighost Like I said, it didn't work for me but does for you, congratulations, it's too subjective to debate. @TRaddcliff why dont you get one, play with it and then make sweeping statements, then i may take your informed comments seriously cheers r

Faan, va bra!
