    Great video dude, your analogy of "if it's on the screen, it's a part" is spot on.

    1. I keep coming back for the hot sauce packet, do not underestimate its appeal to the average viewer. 2. As someone who is just getting their feet wet in the Elektron world (Digitone and Analog Four) these kinds of videos help a lot. If you can boil these definitions down to a sentence, it gives me something to hold on to. Keep up the good work, and thanks!

    I actually really like the modular analogy. It’s also kinda like how you could route a VCO to a number of different VCFs with different envelopes before going off to a VCA, where the VCF is an analogy for a part. Personally, I use them to flip samples or sub out one shots. I’ve also had some crazy weird and cool things happen when switching to different sliced samples too :). Some of my best tracks are built by accident this way!

    Brilliantly simple way of describing “Parts” and how they relate to the OT workflow….

  • @dkamhaji
    @dkamhaji 3 роки тому +1

    So 3 things.. First thanks for the videos always look forward to them! and Parts is always a tricky subject. Second, it would be helpful in this explanation to explain the tree top down so people can understand the flow - which is that in one project there are 16 banks. and each bank can hold 16 patterns and 4 Parts. And that each part can hold 16 scenes per part! So if you treat a Bank like a song means your song can have 16 patterns with 4 parts and 64 scenes! pretty mind boggling! Third - I think if im not mistaken - a sample lock lives inside a part, because if you change the machine for another part say from flex to static, the sample will probably go away? that lst point im not 100% on.. will check on hat! but anyways awesome vid! Thank you!

    Nice vid, they’re like kits if you’re used to the analog elektron boxes. May I ask what camera you have above?

  • @earlsfield
    @earlsfield 3 роки тому +2

    Anyway. Parts are just an extra feature in OT that allow for multiple different musical sources to be played when connected to a pattern, no need to complicate stuff too much. Pattern is a set of simple data telling OT HOW to play content, Part is content, so WHAT is being played. Another analogy - pattern is your piano roll with MIDI data in the DAW , part is your VST or a hardware synth. Even easier, pattern is a note sheet and part is an instrument. Why do they exist in OT? To expand possibilities and let you have different sources of playback, as well as some more advanced purposes, especially in live performance.

      @@jimreplicant Well not really as what i saw was 15 minutes of him going on tangent every minute, just like in every other video. His stream of thought is so disjointed that after 5 minutes you get lost in his own train of thought. Nothing against the man, I just feel as if it wasn't explained well, I respect him as a creator. Why are you butthurt, on the other side, I do not understand. If you are fine with the video, go play with parts and ignore my comment.

    One question... I'm preparing a live set and finally took the octatrack out. I use it to play longer stems. If I play a new song, I have to use another part...so mutch so good, but are the parts for.the patterns, or the bank?

  • @WillRoan
    @WillRoan 2 роки тому

    This might be a little misleading. But from what so can tell “Kits” on the A4 and AR work similarly to “Parts”.

    Octadad, help!! (or anyone else who knows what's wrong!)
    My OT audio track one doesn;t play... anything!
    It previews audio files from the static/flex browser, however the sequencer does nothing, the THRU does nothing, it is really annoying and creating a new project doesn't change it
    The pattern settings are the same for all tracks so it's not that either.
    Seriously worried as I have a bad feeling it's broken :( I've scoured the internet for help but all the troubleshooting hasn't worked.
    If you could find it in your heart to help me out it would be much appreciated.
    Love

    Its always a little annoying that when it comes to PARTs that nobody even mentions that the Bank stores which PTRN was left with what PART. Meaning once choosen a PART you do not switch the entire bank, you just selected one of the 4 available PARTs of and for that particular PTRN. If you switch to another PTRN the selected PART for that will be automatically selected as well. Sadly there is no overview showing you that unless you go thru the PTRN one by one to see them chosen.

    Ok so here is a dumb question. Why hasn’t elektron made an OTmkIII? Seems like they could do robust upgrades and new fxs and make boat loads of cash. I don’t understand how something so popular and revolutionary could be forgotten with very little firmware updates or new upgrades. Seems like Elektron is really missing out on a fantastic flagship cash grab

    • @vardoger
      @vardoger 3 роки тому +1

      Small market, high cost of development and the people who made the Octatrack don't work at Elektron anymore. I'm excited to see what they do in the future, but unfortunately I doubt it's going to be as deep and flexible as the OT.

  • @alexyoungbased
    @alexyoungbased 3 роки тому

    • @alexyoungbased
      @alexyoungbased 3 роки тому

      Oh never mind… it’s that different patterns can have different parts allocated to them. Got it !

    • @AtTheTableGames
      @AtTheTableGames  3 роки тому +1

      you got it! and depending on which part you have assigned to a pattern, you’ll have 16 different scenes to choose from. so if part one is assigned to pattern one, you’ll have 16 scenes. and if part two is assigned to pattern two, you’ll have 16 wholly unique/different scenes to pull from.

  • @Rustik1722
