  • Newly promoted Lt. Tyrone Shaw has spent much of his time since joining the Sheriff Al Cannon Detention Center in 2008 as a member of the Special Operations Group, which serves as an in-house SWAT team of sorts. SOG is often tasked with getting control of unruly inmates, so Lt. Shaw's knack for maintaining composure in highly stressful situations is one of several reasons for his success. Congrats on your promotion, Lt. Shaw!

This video is not to promote being a bad ass with "toys". This team isn't deployed just because an inmate decides to be disrespectful. This team is for BELLIGERENT inmates either a danger to themselves OR others!
The video shows mildly the dangers these facilities posses and the extreme measures officers have to take in order to stop multiple inmates from trying to kill you just bc they're "hearing voices" or pissed because they didn't like what's on their daily menu. This clearly shows that in the face of TRUE danger, he remains calm, and he will STOP the threat so that they can go home in one piece.

Of course he's confident and calm he's got tactical gear and assault rifle, a baton, a big-ass heavy flashlight.. he probably has a knife... pepper spray and a taser not to mention 200 other prison guards behind them with the exact same amount of gear going against a bunch of prisoners armed with plastic shiv's and sharpened metal hahaha

Anyone that has ever stepped foot in a correctional facility knows how dangerous of a place it is… lifers with nothing to lose, don’t care if you have a family or not. The reason a lot of these officers make it through an entire career is their ability to talk to people and build relationships.
You can’t shoot and hit everyone with a baton, if the inmates want to kill you, there’s not a lot you can do about it.
Better be trained up and have a good ability to talk
