You should consider looking into getting a small compressor and a set of deflators so you can air down your tires on those BLM washboard roads. Makes the ride more comfortable, less noisy, and can give you a bit more traction.

Your videos are amazing! You and James look like you are having so much fun out exploring. Your PCT trip was fun to follow for sure. But to be honest your videos now are much more interesting to and fun to follow along with. So happy for you two that you made the best of getting off trail. You both look much happier doing what you're doing now. Always looking forward to your next adventure vlog.

When looking for great places to visit cheaply or for no,,, go to Local Town Hall and ask there. Locals always know and share the hidden gems in there surroundings.. I moved to Az for awhile, and I was shocked at all the absolute Gorgeous places locals told me about or even took me too. Gorgeous waterfalls/lakes on sides of Mountains for free etc. Especially in Az Utah, Nevada, New Mexico etc

Very nice video. So many kool things to see. For future adventures consider having an emergency kit; a 2 1/2 gallon can of fuel, a portable battery jumper, a 12v air compressor(or a hand tire pump), a tire plugging kit(about $10 at Walmart), a basic tool kit, a shovel, a hand ax(I prefer a 3/4 Scout Axe), a mat that can help when stuck in sand, and several good ratchet straps. Make sure that your lug wrench and jack work well. In soft areas, a couple of 2" x 10" x 16" boards can be used under the jack.
You can buy magnetic bug screens for house doors. They could be adapted to your van to keep out the bugs and curious critters. Happy Trails. Good Luck, Rick

@@kellyhays23 I have always enjoyed sharing information. I've been through a lot of adventures(especially in the 1970s when I was your age) and I'm just lettig you know some of what I carry. Think cheap. Many tools can be picked up at tag sales or flea markets. I've picked up tool boxes at our town transfer station. You would want the tire plugging kit and the battery jumper new but everything else can be used. Your Dad can probably help. As I recall he had a treasure undercover in the driveway. It looked older than my 55 Chevy P/U. Over the past 50+ years my emergency gear has been used to help others a lot more than I used it for myself. Have fun. Good Luck, Rick

If you’re looking for something to do that’s fun, cheap and not as crowded as the park I highly recommend Kanarra Falls. The uncertain trick to permit hiking that I heard about was by a couple of hikers hanging out near the start of the trail they wanted to hike on; two permitted hikers baled on their hike and gave their permit to the two folks waiting without the hike paperwork. Not sure who even checks for valid permits on the trails, (park rangers?). Best trail access success wished to you both.

Congrats on the permit to Angels Landing. I've been up there a few times but the last time was probably 15 years ago. Back then there weren't that many people out hiking. The first time I probably saw less than 10 people that whole day on the trail. It's kinda sad its become like this in a way, but then again good for all the people that are actually getting out and seeing this. Be careful up there, although you've done it already. lol... So when you are in these pullovers with no facilities where/how do you pee? Do you have some sort of in-van arrangement when James closes his eyes and shuts his ears?

I have a toilet in the van for peeing! Dig a cat hole for other stuff.

Ahhh... looks very peaceful. I didn't think BLM land would be so hospitable, but those are beautiful spots you've scouted out. Looks like you both are enjoying yourselves, keep it up! I heard on another video channel that they don't let you drive through Zion, that you have to park and take a bus? Can you comment on that in your next video?

Hey Kelly and James, we did a trip very similar to this last summer. It’s so great to re-live it again watching your vids! As far as an awning goes, Tim made one for our cargo trailer conversion out of pvc and a tarp, and some paint poles. We want to redo it with some of the ideas in the comments but maybe it would get you started. ua-cam.com/video/_IPLfgO2S6Y/v-deo.html
