This is the LAST time we camp in Sedona... NEW RULES

- This week we hit the road for a long weekend exploring Sedona and Jerome Arizona! We head out early Friday morning toward Sedona, a little over 4 hour drive from Las Vegas, we get to Sedona and check out Slide Rock State Park! Great park, perfect for a summer picnic to cool off in the water!
We hit some breweries around town and make our way to find Camp! There are new rules in Sedona that limit where you can disperse camp in West Sedona (off 525/Loy Butte where we normally camp). We checked out 4 dispersed areas before we FINALLY found one with space for us (and had a little bit of privacy). It was pretty frustrating though so be sure to come early and save your campspot for the weekend!
After Sedona, we made our way to Jerome where we rented out an old 1800s home (with some of the BEST views in town) and hung out around town - wine tasting, eating good food and having a great time.

Thanks for the heads up on the dispersed camping. I’m heading to Sedona in 2 weeks to do some Van camping.
Definitely hit those areas early and save yourself a spot! Have a great time out there, thanks for watching Jeremy 🤙🏽
peopel ruined the camping all around Sedona the past 3 years trashing it. So thanks to all those who don't respect the outdoors and ruined for us that do. Good video as usual.
Yup same in Flagstaff by lake Mary some spots now are closed thanks to the duchers who left out cars and trash ugh!
Such a bummer. Thanks for watching Paul!
You really made an excellent video! Various subjects and you thoroughly covered the Sedona area. Kudos to you!!!
Thank you Mitzi! Glad you enjoyed the video and that it was helpful !
HAHA!! Carly!! So funny. Thank you again, Kaden. Always a pleasure.
She cracks me up 😂😂
awesome video as always! that chicken adobo looked delicioso my friend! oh, and thanks for the info on new camping rules in Sedona, good to know.
Appreciate it! Thanks for watching 🤙🏽🤙🏽
Thank you for the info and great video!
Glad you enjoy them, thanks for watching!
Kaden, my wife and I really enjoy your videos (especially when you have your wife and puppy along..) We got our GFC last October and have yet to camp in it, but get inspiration and great ideas from your videos! Looking forward to camping weather here in WA State and to more videos from your adventures. Cheers!!
Glad you guys enjoy the content 🤙🏽🤙🏽 I’m seeing some warmer weather hit the pnw this week! Safe travels out there! 🏕
"Regulations"...YES!.....Lack of respect for the area, people driving off trail, collecting firewood, speeding, overstaying the 2 week limit. Shall I go on?
Yeah its a shame they've had to resort to all this but its easy to understand why. Thanks for watching!
thank you peaceful video for us dude!
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching Tony!
Thank you for the beautiful trip. I stay at Greasy Spoon every time I go to Sedona.
Thanks for watching! We passed by Greasy Spoon when we were there but sadly no spots were available, we got lucky with the one we did find! Thanks!
I was there a few weeks ago. I played the Slide Rock slot machine and won. OK, not actually a slot machine, just the kiosk machine you use when there's no attendant. I put my card in the slot and selected All State Parks Annual Pass. The machine spit out a pass but didn't charge my card. Fine with me. I don't know if they spotted the glitch, but on the way out I saw a Ranger standing next to the machine, handling the transactions for people coming in.
Wow ! thats awesome lol i'm sure someone caught it quick hence the ranger lol Hopefully you'll make good use of the free pass! Thanks for watching Edna!
I actually didn't even know you could camp in Sedona. I pride myself on being very stealth. I have stealth camped in Sedona just to be close to the MTB trails in the early am. Good to know there's a few actual spots. Thanks for sharing!
I wish we could camp more stealth but with this setup its not really practical lol Thanks for watching Lawrence!
Lived in Phoenix for a few months last year and Jerome was my favorite place to visit. Haunted Hamburger was so good!
Thats awesome! And Yes I saw that place had a ton of good reviews unfortunately it was closed when we were out there but will definitely add it to our list next time. Thanks for watching Alex!
Nope, to many damn people screw the whole thing up! years ago Sedona was Bitch'n! You could feel the Aurora in the rocks at night. Last time I was there the energy was gone.
Such a bummer! But I’m glad we were able to camp out here before all these rules lol thanks for watching Ken🤙🏽
Impressed with the chicken adoboat camp. I don't add sugar or onions, but I add some basil to it. Learned the recipe from my mom. Overall, nice video. Enjoyed the content!
Thanks for the suggestion! I will definitely try making adobo again to redeem this 😂 thanks for watching Lem!
Subscribed! I like your cooking emphasis vs. Gnarly rocks! You have a lot of places I've gone, or would go, so a great combo! I used to be able to grab a campsite along oak creek, with no reservations, on a Friday pretty easy... 2005 or so. That was my family's main camping area when mynkids were small, plus Flagstaff, so nice to see your vids! P.s. had adobo this week, great to see you making it. You should also try some tenoola, tenula? You know, the chicken, ginger, chaote squash one. Good one pot camp meal!
Thanks Dave! Glad you enjoy the content. Camping around Sedona has definitely changed since then but i've heard good things about camping around Oak Creek area to get a bit farther away from Sedona, next time we are out there i'm hoping to do more exploring a bit further out to get out of these designated dispersed camp areas. Yes! I've had Tinola that is a great idea for a one pot meal, ill put it on the list! Thanks for watching man!
that coffee looked real good!
Good coffee when your out camping is a must! Thanks man
Yep love your videos! But nope NOT staying anywhere haunted 😂 I tried to get camping reservations in Jerome but dang it they weren't open yet...Jerome and Prescott are on my list, thanks for posting ❤
Where in Jerome were you looking for camp reservations?? I tried looking that up but didn’t see anything so we resorted to a bnb
@@Kadenventures oops it was Prescott, I was looking at Watson Lake. I bet you guys would love it there 😉
@@hendersonhiking9597 ohhhh tempting 🙃 we’re headed out to Prescott here soon and will check out Watson lake!
In the late 60's (high school) we would camp anywhere, right on the creek, right in Oak Creek.
It has since turned into quite the destination.
The good ol days!! Thanks for watching!
I had a wonderful time in that area! But, I had a dog with me. So my friend sat with him while I jumped in 😊 It looks a lot different later in the year. It's super cool, actually ❤
Nice! It was definitely a fun area to check out, thanks for watching Kim!
Let me recommend Uncle Ben's Coconut Jasmine Rice 🔥🔥🔥
I’ve had that! It’s good lol I rarely ever make rice and the only rice cooker I have I gotta plug it into a 12v plug to my goal zero 😂 #worstfilipinoever thanks for watching man🤙🏽
Yes it's much worse than before however the last spot (Nolan) goes back deeper in perfect for those with higher clearance, still crowded yet the rocky road in is a good filter for some. Keep in mind there are coyotes coming through so you will want to keep track of your pets...I also experienced a series of gun shots at 3 in the morning, this is a multi-use area with tons of ATV's plus the tour trucks...the red dust is romantic in a way yet it gets everywhere and I mean everywhere if you stay for a bit sometimes the wind picks up and it's no bueno. If you go for a bike ride you will want to have something on your face to help filter the dust...However the sunsets and sunrises are just incredible with the hills and there are hot air balloons that come up in the early morning...people are generally pretty nice and there is a fun petroglyph spot about 1.5 miles up that's really amazing ($5), you have to go early though maybe 1:00 because they close the gate at 3:00. It's a chill spot in the off-season although as things go that shrinks more and more...while I can somewhat understand the reasons to shrink the area, the response was way too draconian, way too small an area for the expected use vs available land (if you go you will see how stupidly small the official parking areas are) and my opinion is they could have done a lot more outreach and working with people rather than the typical top-down control...one person I talked to mentioned that they did this to limit the influx of people which the surrounding towns and area aren't setup to handle. My understanding is that they are here to manage land use rather than decide land use, it's public land and it's obvious there is a lot more demanded use for than they are providing (again outreach vs top-down parental type of control)
Agreed! Its a bummer to see how much they've restricted it vs the amount of available land and number of people who visit the area. The overflow will flow into the areas surrounding Sedona (which is where we plan on camping next time around) to hopefully get out of these designated dispersed areas. We saw that Petroglyph area on the map but someone commented saying you have to have a guide with you to go now so we ended up skipping it. Thanks for watching Wyatt! Appreciate the feedback and information
TY. 👍
Hope you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!
Please ❤ post links and info on your research/experience with Sedona dispersed camping.
I have a Class C. 25 foot. I can and have boondocked in Quartzsite up to 10 days. Sedona camping on BLM/Forest is a bucket list item.
Lived in Sedona for 5 years. Volunteered with fire department for 3 years.
On carry outs, hikers/bicyclists injured on trail, we found how knuckle heads desecrated the lands around area.
Furniture, rotting food, human waste ( really like Carly's Pickle tent) . Lucky area is open at all.
Schnebly Hill was one of my favorite areas as it was accessible to my Toyota 2x4 pick up.
Completely thrashed by knuckle heads. Think it is totally blocked to camping.
But, your research is most appreciated.
Did you check out Broken Arrow trail? The Steps would not be recommended with roof tent.
I will try to PM my you-tube link of my Jeep, stick shift, on this technical event.
Really enjoying your site and the adventures around Vegas.
Keep ' em coming!
Thats awesome! I've been wanting to check out Quartzsite one day! It may be a bit too hot at this point but maybe later this year after the summer! We love Sedona and were trying to get a trip lined up in a few weeks but we will see! Its a shame they closed down a lot of the dispersed camping but i'm going ot be exploring a few new areas a bit further from Sedona. I have not checked out Broken Arrow trail but i'd be down to check it out! Thanks for watching Beth!!
First time checking out your channel and it was chill fam. Deserved a sub for the "wh*te" people adobo line hahahhaha. 😂 can't wait for the next one
lolll Thank you! Glad you got a kick out of that, my wife was like don't put that in LOL I knew my people will understand =p Thanks for the sub fam! Cheers
A hidden gem in Sedona is Cafe Jose behind McDonald's. Good cheaper food than the touristy restaurants. Off the beaten path and worth it.
Thank you! i'll keep that in mind for next time, appreciate it!
We were in the area about 2 weeks ago. While the restrictions for dispersed camping are in place, there are still many areas that are open that have fabulous views and are private. Hit me up next time ya go 😉
Thanks! Good to know. We will be back but will be exploring dispersed camping options a bit further from Sedona, maybe around Oak creek area. Thanks for watching Renee!
I'm curious to know these spots, I'll be there next week. Could I drop you an email? Thanks
Wow, you had quite a view from the house
So true! we got lucky, it was as great view of our spot! Thanks for watching Karen
Hey Kaden, have you done any suspension modifications?
I have air suspensions by rough country and bilstein 5100s so nothing crazy lol
Nice video. Subbed.
Appreciate it! Thanks for watching!
Just to many people period, we were there about 20 years ago, it was nice, nothing like it is now, overcrowded & some, not everyone disrespectful people trashing it out 🤬, but thanks for sharing, awesome views!
Its a bummer but we still love going out there for the views and hiking! Next time we will try to find camp a bit further away maybe around oak creek or somewhere farther from town. Thanks for watching Susanne!
We stay at an RV resort outside of cottonwood (Sedona View RV Resort) from October -May every year. If you don’t mind paying for a place to park it’s a great place to stay while in Sedona area. Free camping is t always worth the trouble
I didnt even know there were any RV Resorts in the area! Good to know for next time, I know what you mean, its nice to know where your going to sleep for the night so you dont have to worry about finding a dispersed spot lol Thanks for watching Austin!
If you disperse camp the best spot is south of the Village of Oak Creek on Beaverhead Flat Road in the cooler months. Not a lot of shade but it's fairly quiet and less dust. In the warmer months, north of the switchbacks on 89A on FR 237 in the Pumphouse Wash area is also pretty nice. Not sure how the new rules have affected those sites though.
Awesome thank you for the suggestions! Much appreciated. I plan on heading back to the area eventually to explore and camp farther from town hopfully those areas weren’t impacted by the updated 🤞🏽 thanks for watching! 🏕
Thanks for the heads up! My van is almost ready and I’ll be heading up that way from Phoenix, in a couple weeks.
My great grandfather worked the copper mine in Jerome in the 1920's. My grandmother was named for the little Daisy mine.
Wow that is awesome! Love the history around here! Thanks for sharing and watching! Cheers Jeff!
Are you going to overland expo this next weekend?
Nah sadly not I’m hoping to hit the PNW one this summer though!
Beautiful place. Sucks about the new rules, but I'm sure you will find somewhere else haha.
Yea I have no doubt we’d find something else just farther away from Sedona which we’re cool with to explore more around there 👌🏽 thanks for watching Jay!
Haven't had me a High Noon in a minute. I highly recommend you try The Finnish Long Drink. My wife and I are hooked on them and is our go to lake / warm weather camping beverage. You said "white people adobo" and I knew exactly what you meant😂. Built around the turn of the 20th century= definitely haunted.
That’s for the recommendation We’ve been trying a bunch of new shelter/mix drinks these days we’ll give that one a shot! I’m glad im not the only one😂😂 Thanks for watching man!
Brown sugar is better with control. Cook done the water for better flavor. Was soy sauce used? Love Sedona. Will check out Jerome next time. Enjoyed camping with you.
Yeah I will definitely reduce the sugar added next time lol my mom said she barely puts in any sugar like 1 TSP worth and i put wayyyy to much. Soy sauce was used in the marinade! Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching!
Hey Kaden. Nice video. Yep Sedona has been not the best for dispersed camping even before the new rules. If you guys end up in the Prescott area hit me
up I can show you plenty of dispersed camping in Prescott NF. Tom
We were actually in Prescott over the weekend! I was going to do a video out there exploring the dispersed camp options but we ran out of time, i'll let you know next time we are in the neighborhood! Thanks Tom!
@Kaden yes hit me up. I run a built up 5th Gen 4Runner. Tom
Hi Kayden! What app does your wife use for bird watching? I have a friend that takes his father all over the world to view birds. My grandfather was a bird watcher too! That and weather watching. So fun!
Traveling the world to view birds sounds awesome! Its been fun getting into it! She uses an app called Merlin Bird ID (Link here: merlin.allaboutbirds.org/)
Subscribed! Timmy C Arizona
Appreciate it man! Thanks for watching 🤙🏽
Did you use cane sugar or brown sugar for the Adobo? Always use dark brown or did you just use to much sugar?
Brown sugar! And yea I’m pretty sure I added too much sugar
I never use sugar or onions in adobo. I like it a tad bit more vinegar tasting 😊
Agreed! I followed a recipe and will need to ask my mom or grandma for what they normally do bec that’s how I like it as well more vinegar haha thanks for watching!
I have that app! It's awesome!!
It’s great! We’ve definitely been turned into birders lol!
It's not sedona that changed the rules as you are outside sedona city limits. It was the forrest service due to high levels of trash and unsanitary Conditions, the destruction of the forrest and land. I am from there went out to that area it was a mess feces and trash everywhere as well as unattended camp fires during our wild fire season. It got pretty bad people were just staying and than moving on they were living out there for months and using the land as their personal landfill very sad.
Ah yea that makes sense that it would be forest service. That was my same thought for their reasoning behind the rule changes, it makes sense since so many people were trashing the place. Very unfortunate
The new “rules” are ridiculous. Most campers are respectful of the land, and its a shame they are taking the blame for this. There are 90 (yes Ninety) Pink Jeeps as well as other companies and personal ATV’s there every day kicking up dirt and making noise. If you hike the Boynton Canyon Trail, the 1st mile has to go around a high dollar gated community that is still expanding. All throughout Sedona area, real estate is being built and ruining the views of this beautiful landscape. The almighty Dollar is winning!!!!
Wow I didnt realize how many jeeps/ATVs were out there! crazy. Such a bummer bec we love visiting this area but may need to check out alternative spots to camp next time
As long as the ghosts stay in the house and not follow me home, I’m good with spending a night there.
lol same! Luckily no unwanted visitors followed us home :)
It's NOT a full / completed adobo manok without the bay leaves. Take some Filipino "prends" with you to camp next time! Looks good tho! 🇵🇭🇺🇲
Wow! your right I totally forgot about the bay leaves 😮 lol and no doubt I gotta do a trip out with my people sometime!! 🍻🍻 thanks for watching! 🤙🏽
probably due to rv living telling everyone about Sedona area for dispersed camping?
Idk, i'm not sure if i'd attribute it to anyone channel or creator, I think its always been a pretty popular spot they've just now started adding in these crazy rules lol Thanks for watching!
Chicken Adobo?
Yes! 🙌🏽🙌🏽
I would rather get off the ground than climbing down in the morning
Yeah its definitely convenient /easier to get up in the morning off the ground lol our tent setup in Alaska with our portable cot is so awesome. Thanks for watching Brian!
Sedona sucks on a Good day. Many better spots around that there.
We’ll definitely be back in the future to camp elsewhere maybe closer toward oak creek area
Sharing everyone of Jesus Christ, He is coming back. We are spiritually saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ our Lord God and Savior.
Thanks for watching!
Matthew 6:5-8. Go read that.
