Great tip on the shoes. Been in a couple different stores that only sell athletic shoes and never got this kind of guidance when asking about determining what is best support. Thanks for all the effort you put into your videos.
Awesome tips! I just recovered from a spine surgery & 2 months later a knee replacement! So learning how to walk again. I have the walking poles I just took out of storage. I was using a cane for 8 months before the surgeries so it has been difficult & painful for me unfortunately. Also just got new Sketcher walking shoes & the suggestion of smaller steps makes its much easier to walk for me at this beginning of my rehab! you are an awesome PT instructor-better than all the ones I have used here in California. Thank you for then expert recommendations!
This was just what I needed today, as I'm trying to increase my walking distance. I struggle with finding enough support in my shoes combined with impact resistance in the sole/insole to combat plantar fasciitis. Any advice? I definitely agree about walking poles - as a former Nordic skier, I LOVE mine! My tip I like to share is to do walking loops versus out-and-back routes if you're increasing distance. That way you can stop more easily when you need to and avoid overdoing it, which for me leads to backsliding in progress. ❤
@@beckygwinn2107 Thank you! I will check them out. I think also Oofos has a new model of walking shoes (vs. recovery shoes) that I'm going to look at too.
I have worn heels most of my life and was recently told that someone with knee issues could never wear heels again. Is this correct? I really can't stand wearing sneakers and was wondering your thoughts about it. Thanks for your help.😊❤
Great tips. I love walking. I was walking 6.41 miles 5-6 days a week but got away from it the last 3 years because of life circumstances. As soon as our weather warms up a little I’m back out there. I was just diagnosed with osteoporosis. Also have osteoarthritis in my left knee. So walking is important to me

Perfect. At 73,these are great tips. I use poles, so I tend to take long strides, so I'll shorten them up. Thanks!
Glad you like it. Also glad you're already using poles in walking. Best of luck in 2025!
Yes, this is a good way to warm up before you walk or any kind of workout. Thank you for everything you do.❤

I think the brand of shoes she wears and showed on this video were Kuru Atoms.

Is that for knee OA please?
Hi Alyssa
If I buy you're KAA Progamme can it be used on my TV?
Yes there are casting options
Alyssa, which brand and model are these shoes you used for the example?
Here's a great brand of shoe kurufootwear.sjv.io/qnBZ35
What do you think about Nordic walking poles Alyssa?
They can be helpful too!
Could you recommend different models and brands please? I have patellea chondromalacia, and seronegative arthritis, which really damaged my ankle
I put the link on your other comment to a great brand of shoe.

Are barefoot shoes good? 🤔
pending what brand you're referencing, but barefoot shoes generally have lower amount of support.
🎉❤😅😊

Dr. Alyssa, you must get a lot of compliments on your beautiful legs.
