Kathleen, growing up we used the empty dried beef jars as juice glasses after the meat had been used for cream chipped beef on toast! It took a while to “build a set of glasses.”😂🤣
Same here! They also are the perfect size to cut out holes in the bread for Hole in Ones! Also miss the jelly glass jars for drinking glasses, the ones with the characters. 🤣🤣🤣

Lol they used to have Welch's grape jelly in small jars but brother liked strawberry jelly so it took awhile to use it all I think the jars had Flintstone characters on them same took forever to collect all of their characters
My mom made “fancy roll ups” from dried meat. Put a sheet of dried beef on the table, spread cream cheese on it, and put a sweet gherkin in the middle. Roll it up and slice into half inch rounds. Hit of the cocktail party circuit I can tell you!

I grew up on my grandmas dip with dried beef in it. Haven’t thought of it in so long. I laughed when the second option that comes up on the internet for it is dog food. That dip was damn good though 😂

I laughed my ass off as I currently live in Florida & what you’re saying about your moms friend is the gods honest truth-and it’s scary-& worse when you’re becoming one of them. SOS NY!
I was on the ladder the other day at my local BB&B and nobody stopped me or said a word.
I just had to get my water at Walmart today and it was on the very top shelf way in the back of the shelf. I pushed the big Walmart ladder over and climbed up and got the water myself. I'm under 5 ft, so I normally can't reach stuff on the top shelf. What is the chance that I would have found anyone "Working " at Walmart that would be willing to help me? When you do find a worker at Walmart and ask for help 9 × out of 10 times they will tell you they don't speak English. When I have found someone who does speak English and I ask them where something is, they ask stupid questions like" Did you look?"
Or they go up and down the same aisle you were just up and down looking. Then after going up and down the aisle, the Walmart employee will tell you that they don't know where it is and they just walk away. I have gone back and gotten that same employee who couldn't find whatever I was looking for after I find the item myself and show them where the thing was.
Don't get me wrong I love Walmart, but sometimes I feel like I am always having to hunt for everything. It's like looking for Bigfoot at times.

I think Kathleen's on to something. A lot of business could save themselves if they just put a big, round bar in the middle of it.

My mom made chipped beef on toast whenever my dad traveled for business.
So did my mother. She said it was because that's all the men in the army ate...are we related? Heh heh

We loved chip beef on toast in my family, but my not-quite-father-in-law wouldn't have it in his house. He had been a sailor and I think they had had to eat it almost every day.
My Dad waited for a year when he and mom were 1st married before he said he didn't like it🤣
