I think Kathleen is the only “idol” I could meet and chat with, that wouldn’t ruin it for me. She’s legit herself, and I have so much respect for that.
I love Kathleen. I went to school at the University of Missouri-Columbia in the late 80s, early 90s, and would go see her at Deja Vu every time she rolled through. She's great.
There are certain comedians that you could watch over and over again, same jokes, and still laugh your pants off 😂Kathleen Is definitely one of my favourites I laugh so hard I feel like I’ve done a ton of situps by the end of her show 😆😂🤣😂
Tom's a generous non-interrupting interviewer that graciously let Kathleen (I'm pretty sure that was her behind the mic) to complete her great stories.
What a great interview. Kathleen Madigan is a favorite comedian. No, she will never run out of thoughts, and when she's done with the tours & the stage, I'd love to read the book that Will downpour out of her brain, over her tongue, into some transcriber's ear, and onto the page.
I adore Kathleen Madigan. So funny, so real, so down to earth. I feel like I'm listening to a girlfriend 😂. I can watch her comedy over and over. Naturally hilarious lady!
This is a great interview! Kathleen, Kris Kristofferson is suffering from Lyme disease. It was initially diagnosed as Alzheimer's due to his symptoms. Kathleen, your humor is fantastic! And your heart is kind. Saw you in Ft. Myers a few years ago and laughed harder than I thought possible. It was my first time going anywhere after the pandemic began and you lifted my heart. Many thanks
As someone who is Autistic (and lives in STL) I appreciate that Kathleen can joke about Autism without making fun or ridiculing it. I watched her special last night and it's great! Also if you want authentic Mexican food in STL, head down to Cherokee Street. Lots of Mexican owned businesses and restaurants with delicious food.
Why do I love this so much? Two comedians just talking has me so engaged. Haha at the "Dayton" reference (Cleveland here). I just started watching these "Bread" talks and I love them. Kathleen you rock! Thanks, Tom.
@@hbeachley Kathleen has a UA-cam channel, during lock down she read books to us. She would end each night with ‘night night Termite’; it originated with her buddy comedian Ron White. So he’s papa termite, she’s mama termite, and the lock down fans are the termites. She even made a shirt with ‘night night termites’ on it, really cute. It’s a great series with her commentary throughout, makes ya love her even more!🤣💖
Love both of these people! They are the chicken soup on a cold winter’s night. I urge everyone to share all their specials with your family and friends. They will make you laugh out loud and remember the good old days
Finally saw her in Santa Rosa. I laughed so much , along with my mid 70s mom, my throat was sore afterwards. One of the best deliveries in the laughing biz. My she live long and prosper🖖
Kathleen, I get your upbringing. Irish catholic from PA, and my mother made the same food, I knew the day of the week by the food, one day was meatloaf,, another lamb chops, Fridays tuna fish, sunday grilled cheese and tomato soup. Never had Chinese or Mexican until I was an adult on my own.
So glad that even when you retire your specials will always be streaming somewhere and I won’t get sick of them. Hopefully these Podcasts will stay forever on UA-cam. We are so lucky that you do this for us. We can’t all see you on the road anyway. Kathleen’s Pubcast’s have kept many of us going and she has kept up even after the pandemic. New every Wednesday and great stuff. We are spoiled, and yes, I go nuts with the comments like I am here. Just so much to respond to. If you can keep that up you don’t need the road. You’re legends forever. When people are quoting you regularly I think you’ve made it (not that you weren’t already, but think you can gain followers without touring, it just doesn’t pay well other than getting praise)
I LOVE that she does 1/3 1/3 1/3. YOU BETTER tell those old jokes. The most naturally hilarious person/comedian I’ve ever come across. Love You Kathleen!
Had the pleasure of seeing you in Red Bank NJ. Will be seeing Ms. Madigan for the 2nd time next week at Count Basie as well. What can I say, I have fabulous taste. 😎 Love you both! ☮️❤️🤣
Favorite Comedians in the english speaking world! Tom Papa, Lew Black, Kathleen Madigan. You're all great! How cruel to take night working talent, and start energy yelling in the morning!
What a great guest. You’re both so awesome it creates great chemistry and conversation. Love Kathleen’s imitations of everyone. You need a catch phrase for her to toss out like her pronunciation of Rocky LaPorte’s “good for you” (can’t spell guh fo you) or John Pinette’s Nay nay. You two and Nate Bargatze are my Mount Rushmore of comedians. ❤️ I guess Gabe “Fluffy” and Gaffigan might be the other two heads…but I guess I haven’t seen everyone. Jon Reep is awesome, Steven Wright…so many. Just give me a good special or Podcast and I’m in. Keep at it please.
Hey Tom, on her latest Pubcast mama termite was showing us and munching on the bread that you baked for her! Looked and sounded delicious; be well from Washington state USA ❤️
You two are my favorite comics! I have watched your specials over and over again until I have memorized the jokes. Take care of yourself and thanks for hosting Kathleen!
❤❤😂😂thank you Tom. I knew these videos were gonna rock. I took a good day. Made from bad day. My ac is out August in Florida great day I got this entertainment to finish up. Most of a wonderful interview.
I first saw Kathleen in Madison back in the 90s. Been a fan, ever since. I'm a survivor of a big, Polish Catholic family (#7 of 8) and can relate to much of what she shares. I hope Kathleen visits Tom Barnard's new morning show in the Twin Cities.
We love the content you both give us whether old or new. It’s all in your delivery and you’re both spot on. I could listen to her make fun of her parents every day and she never runs out of material with them. I think family provides good material for all comedians.
I remember the credit card thing. When I was divorced in 1973, I lost all my credit cards because they were in my married name! It was outrageous then and horrifying now that I remember it.
Kathleen is such a pretty woman, those beautiful eyes, smarts, humor. Anybody that's a night owl, heavy tour schedule, who can still look good, makeup free, after no sleep,is fit. Makes sense that having to prep the same meals for eons equates to being forced to use the same material for every single show. Stifling. Most peeps would go cray, too. Thanks for this inside look at your lives as comics
regarding Louie Anderson’s joke about Norwegians, I don’t if this still exists….but there is a distrust between Norway and Sweden, goes back to WW2, Norway fought Hitler taking their country, Sweden didn’t. Which put Norway in peril.
My fav comedians (still alive) together in this video share? I will re-watch at least 3 times a week. Many thank yous for being in this show. So nice to not see or to not hear any phony at all, Casey in AZ.
I am a 34 year old woman who grew up in a family where both my parents were raised in strict French Catholic Conservative homes so I can relate a lot to Kathleen’s stories 🤣❤️ her work is a form of therapy for me
I think entertainers would miss the applause, the affirmation that you’re funny. We all want to feel loved and feel important. I think that would be hard.
Kathleen is right about women and credit cards. My father died at 41 in 1969. Shortly after that, Sears notifed my mom that they were revoking her credit card because there was no longer a man to sign for it.
She's not entirely correct. In 1974 (not 1976), women gained, for the first time, the right to apply for credit in their own name without a male co-signer. I believe you although it would have been a ridiculous practice or policy of Sears because credit had already been established and how did they discover his death? It wasn't all women. Most married women (especially with children) did not work outside of the home partly because they didn't need to. Consequently credit was extended to women on a case by case basis. My mother bought her first house in 1968 without a co-signer. She had been divorced and working for 3 years by then.
@@rrrjjj5572 Yes that is true but I wrote about more than anecdotal experiences. I agree with what Kathleen said "There's a lot of women in the 70s that lost their minds because of the situation." The situation being the influence of the women's liberation movement (second-wave feminism) and economic conditions including the low cost of housing and education and an increased demand for clerical workers. I presume a good Catholic mother like Vicky Madigan would not have filed for divorce which in my opinion, would have been more influential to what "sent her over the edge" than having "like 10 things to pick from" to prepare for meals.
I can watch Kathleen's specials over and over and laugh every time like it's my first time seeing it.
Same. She’s totally hilarious.
I also watch them over and over again I go to sleep to them every night.
I agree she's just naturally funny just like Jim Gaffigan
I love this podcast!
Same😂
Kathleen is the best. Love her, her work has brightened some of my darkest days.
I hear ya - music and comedy has saved my life.
Same here . Had a very long illness and she helped me out a lot . ❤
Kathleen is the most authentic comedian out there!
I think Kathleen is the only “idol” I could meet and chat with, that wouldn’t ruin it for me. She’s legit herself, and I have so much respect for that.
I'm 35. Kathleen on cable was my therapy in an Irish Catholic household. Fantastic episode!
I'm 65 and feel the same! Six kids all went to Catholic school. Love her
My husband and I are 76 and 82 and we've been to two of Kathleen's shows. Even drove 8 hours to our first show.
Awesome! She’s well worth the trip!
Way to go gators!
Shusi is bait.

so enjoyed this! thanks Tom & Kathleen -also glad you moved the mics out of your faces in later episodes.
I love Kathleen. I went to school at the University of Missouri-Columbia in the late 80s, early 90s, and would go see her at Deja Vu every time she rolled through. She's great.
Two of my favorite human beings who also happen to be hilarious... despite the weather, this is a good day. Thanks, papa!

100%. 2 awesome, funny people who make me laugh every time. 😂❤

She does that with a lot of topics, it’s awesome
I agree. I dislike "comedy/comedians" that is/who are hateful/nasty/condescending....Kathleen's observations are spot on without being unkind.
Yes! We drove from STL to CoMo for the fundraiser for her nephew for MO Autism. You have special gifts. Glad you are here!
What a great discovery - Kathleen Madigan is fabulous. Thank you Tom Papa. 💕🙏🏻💕

OMG!!! My favorites!💖💖💖🤣🤣🤣 Thank you for having mama Termite on the show.
Where did the termite thing come from? I’ve watched all of her specials, listen to her podcast, and I must have missed that. I feel so “out of it.”

@hbeachley she mentioned something like Ron White once bid farewell by saying 'Night-night termite'. She always liked it.
Watching Tom and Kathleen's specials got me through some really tough times ❤
