Merry Christmas! 😊 Hope everyone had fun. Anybody get any cool Jeep upgrades?! Update: Is it not recommended to use dielectric grease with the ECM connections. I did not know this Thanks again Wranglerfix.com for still supporting us with older jeeps!
Quadratec has a really cool interior light bar. So much better than one hanging on the outside. That being said, I wish Wrangler Fix company would recycle people's old ECMs.
This problem is very wide spread. Jeep/ mopar has known about the issue since 2005-2006. The hard shift is caused because temp range sensor will show a very cold temperatures, like -5 °f, so the pcm holds 1st gear longer. I started a thread on wranglerforum in 2016 in the tj tech forum. It's still very active. Everything you could ever need to know about the 05-06 bad PCM is there.
hey dude, i just got an 06 tj a few days ago and im noticing these hard shifts from 1st to 2nd and researching into the issue im like 99% sure this is the problem. i plan on ordering one of these from wranglerfix and hoping for the best, i wont be able to order one for another month or so at the least. i am forced to drive it as is till then, any advise on the safest to do that? i seen it helps to let the jeep warm up for a few minutes before driving might help? would shifting in manually be an option? i just have no option but to drive this thing at the moment how it is and wondering what i should do. i really appreciate any advise if you have any, it seems some people have had these issues a long time before figuring out the problem so i was hoping it wouldnt hurt driving it for a few weeks till i can get a new pcm.
"2019 is about to end and looking forward to 2020". Famous last words. At least you probably had more free time in 2020 to get mods done. Just found your channel and really enjoying it as I am thinking about getting a real Jeep, and not the 2015 Cherokee I traded away. It had transmission issues as well.
Just bought one from them. My 05 was saying all 4 02 sensors were bad when I don’t believe they are. And it started almost stalling while driving. Saw wrangler fix over and over again on the forums. Called mark and he answered to my surprise. This was on the 4th of July. Described what I was going through and he convinced me it was the problem. Bought a computer on the spot, hopefully it works! Can’t wait 🙂
I literally just got my LJ back from the shop after 9 months doing a transmission swap to cure my PCM issues. Very happy to have my Jeep working again as well, wish I would have known about wranglerfix.com and they’re PCM’s. Would have saved a ton of money that way. Just happy to be Jeeping again. Looking forward to more videos.
Sweet carport setup! I haven't tried to make a video of myself working on my rigs, but I'd bet I'd have a ton of mess ups and bloopers, keeping them in reminded me that this stuff takes time and isn't easy 🤙
Thank you for this video. I contacted Wranglerfix. I asked if they have an ECM for my 95zj. They do. So tomorrow I will be ordering one. Thank you again. Get Outta My Head Creations
I had a 2006 Jeep Wrangler TJ 65th anniversary addition. I had to replace the PCM twice because of the is issue. it was going to caust 1400 to 1600 to fix from the dealer. I traded it for a 2018 JK Sport. Wish I would have known about this. You guys rock.
The wife and I just bought our first Jeep (Gladiator) and I've learned a lot from your and Ben's videos. I was watching this older one today and about shot a drink out my nose at 9:12. You may be good at working on the Jeeps and excellent at presenting it, but fall short in the psychic category. Lol Keep the good stuff coming!
Fantastic video. Helped me diagnose the problem on my daughters 06. Engine light, 02 sensor, and cat codes. Cold rough shift out of first. Then it warms up and it’s fine. You described it to a TJ! ;)
Glad to see you back Cassie and also glad you got your shifting problem solved . Looking forward to more videos from you . Happy new year to you and Ben and kiddos too !
Great to see you back. The Lj is my favorite Jeep, it’s great to see it getting some well deserved attention. Keep up the good work! Happy new year to you and Ben.
Great video! I'm considering this replacement on our LJR out of prevention, and as the LJ/TJ aftermarket is drying up. We had a misfire caused by a bad sparkplug and wonky ECM diagnosis, threw off several mechanics (some saying the engine was toast), until we figured out the ECM wonkiness. Replaced the plug, reset the ECM and was purring again. Most expensive sparkplug that I was happy to pay for (vs an engine swap). Other cool thing about WranglerFix is they'll try to fix your current ECM, and if they can't fix it credit the fix cost towards their new ECM.
Always sucks when your Jeep isn't in good working condition and has to sit a while. Good to see you two got the LJ fixed. Arguably the best Jeep of them all. O///////O 🇺🇸 Jeep On 🇺🇸 1941 - 2006
I'm digging your carport lights. I've been wanting to put some in mine, just couldn't figure out solar or hardwire. Glad you can have fun with your jeep again.
My 2006 golden eagle wrangler does this once a week. First to second and then it seems to hang up from down shifting when in a hard load. But I can pull over and restart it and it shifts fine. The ends was nasty and battery was around 11.3 on average fixed it for a while but seems to be back after about a year of being gone.
Glad you got your jeep fixed... Can't wait until the upgrades start happening...👍👍😁😁👍👍 i had one of those value power batteries in my truck it was junk.. Didnt like the cold at all and it was only 2 months old.. That's what i get for tryin to save money lol.....
So my 05 LJR is having a random po431 which isn’t the issue. Also the monitors will not set for smog and here in California its a game stopper. I’ve sent it back to FS1 as the original fried a couple years ago. Wish i knew about wrangler fix.
Awesome video. I’m having sever issues with sputtering and stalling and I can’t pinpoint it. Thinking about getting the PCM. How’s yours still holding up?
How is the LJ compared to a TJ? I have a TJ but have an opportunity to pick up an LJ and wondering if there's any difference or benefits...handling, off road, etc.
I had to put a new computer from the dealership on a 06 tj before any mods. The first computer went out two weeks after getting back. Lucky it was warranted. It had rough idle and shift issues with some popping sound. $1800.00 after the dealership had the Jeep for three weeks. Wish I knew this was a option.
ECM and other electronics are why I have a mechanically-injected Mercedes diesel for my YJ. Electronics work perfectly right up until they don’t, the only place they belong IMO is in the stereo.
Where you've had shifting problems, no doubt your transmission has taken some wear. Get some Amsoil transmission fluid into it and put a new pan on it with a drain plug so you keep changing the transmission fluid. (I assume your current pan has no drain plug)
I have a 06 TJ 4.0 automatic. I have issues with jerking from 1st to 2nd gear and constant 1776 code and goes into Limp Mode often! My torque converter is going bad too! Shudders at 35-45 mph HELP!!!
@@niner8tangojuliet149 we fixed 2-2001 wranglers with a air bag light problem. We traced it down to us both hauling children in car seats and cutting off the passenger air bag. I know this is an oldie... But somehow I missed this one... Will be purchasing a new PCM from Wranglerfix for my GF's LJ soon... Out of curiosity, what headlights are you running on your LJ and do you still like them after long term usage??
@james Hager. Just swapped mine out today and this fixed my CEL and intermittent hard shift to second gear. I was happy I did this as I just purchased my 2006 LJ about 2 weeks ago.

Refurbished usually means they only replace the parts that failed. If the failed part wasn't what was causing your issue then it will likely fail again later.

Is that a Massachusetts air freshener hanging from the rear view mirror?
It’s was an air freshener gift from off road elements, they are located up there.
Oh cool ! I am from Massachusetts
Are you still having success 2 years in?
Wouldn’t an update fix this?
Hopefully in the next few days I’ll have a new pcm in my 98 grand Cherokee Laredo 4.0. My throttle position sensor is messed up but it’s got a new sensor in it so people are saying computer witch is already zip tied together so I’m sure that’s what it is.
Just curious....have you had the Check Engine Light issue since this(for the oxygen sensors)? Also, what car port do you have? Thanks a lot :)
All of the check engine lights are gone!!
Refurbished usually means they only replace the parts that failed. If the failed part wasn't what was causing your issue then it will likely fail again later.
Thats what im saying in this video. This isnt a refurbished ECM. Its a completely brand new ECM made by Wranglerfix
