Since ive been waiting for the Holley Terminator kit to arrive so we can finish off the 5.3 LS swap on the jeep, its a great time to get the Jeep back in the garage for an amazing offroad upgrade!!
Sorry for the crazy long wait since the last video, work got busy and i had to travel out of town for a while, but im back at it with a bunch of videos planned for you guys.
Its time to upgrade the suspension on my Jeep Wrangler, and im doing that with a full Long Arm kit.
This Barnes4WD DIY kit is going to give us a 3 link front, and 4 link rear with the uppers triangulated.
Long arms are going to give us a better ride on the road, and even better performance offroad. Once the kit is fully installed, ill take it offroad and we can discuss the benefits of long arm kits and 3/4 links.
There are alot of long arm kits on the market, some are bolt on, and some still require welding. This is a very well designed kit that is going to be really strong and offer some great suspension geometry numbers (Antisquat, instant center, antidive etc). There is a lot of welding, however it all tabs together really well and makes the install pretty dang straight forward.
The kit comes with everything needed, except for a rear axle truss, which ill talk about in the next video. We even get a new heavy duty skid plate that incorporates into the kit and offers around 1.5" of added ground clearance without any tummy tuck or drivetrain modifications.
Long arms are one of the best upgrades you can do to a lifted Jeep Wrangler, and im excited to finish up this project so we can take it for a spin!

Cassie, yes! As the others have said, definitely do a DYI class. You might also talk a little bit about where you got your skills separate from what Ben has contributed to your projects. Seems like you can do it all. We know you two have been very busy, but so glad to see your videos coming back out. Keep up the great work!

This is what I love about you two. Your not afraid to tackle any project that you want to accomplish. I have heard and been told by so many people, oh you can’t do that, your not certified! I have the skills to do this also. I have just battled the confidence always to do these things. On a semi triangulated four link, you still get axle shift very minimal but it’s there the only time you don’t get it is when you have a dual triangulated four link

Yes, beginning welding would be great
swish cheese drill few hundred holes in the skid plate* then hve a sacrificial sheet of rust proof slippery material so u get best of both strength & rust proof high slip. Pick drill bit size that won't break width yet still no loss in strength maybe 3/8"/7/16". Tight enough drill pattern should save more than 3rd the weight.

I'm almost 60 so my welding days are over for too many reasons to list. You made great beads, great penetration so the weld is true. My 04 TJ frame was so rusted that it led to the subsequent trade in on my 2020 JT while yours is excellent. I'd have rattle canned the arms red though since my TJ was red🤣

Glad I found this video. I was between this kit with Jonnie Joints, the BDS 4 link or the IronRock Rock Link kit. This is the way I'm going to go for sure.
On another note, have you guys typed this all in to one of the long arm calculators to see where your anti squat and anti dive are in relation to stock or what you had before this setup?

Wow! You made that look so doable for the regular weekend wrencher. I’d love to see a beginning welder video. Also, details on your welder & why you guys chose it. All my welding experience was with an old stick welder back on the farm. This Mig/Tig stuff is Greek to me.
Hey man not sure if you’re still looking at getting better at welding. But if you want to do it right and pretty much be a hobbiest pro laying dimes in about 3 months, I’d recommend looking at your local community college for any welding classes they might have. You’ll have good equipment and most teachers don’t mind if you want to come in a bunch and practice. You’ll get a feel for what you need and don’t need and you’ll really dial in the small but important things like temperature control. Best of luck!!

Dont use that upper control arm bushing, itll just bind you up. Use one like the rock crawler joint. All though im gonna use a heim joint with a new tower as well.
