- This week, we answer a request from several viewers to demonstrate how to install the needle clamp on a 201-2 (this also applies to several other Singer machines), as well as how to reassemble the upper thread tension unit. The machine being used as our demonstrator was in the shop for some service and repair work and is now ready to go home!
The feature on my web page - "My Recommended Tools, Materials, and Suppliers" can be found here:

Thank you for a great Video Bob … Learning every time I tune in! 🙏☘️😀
You are so welcome
So very good!! Thank you for the closeup view and clarity.
Happy St.Paddy’s Day. 🎉🎉🎉🎉 Another great video!
Same to you!
Happy St. Patrick’s Day … A Special Day Bob and Liz!!☘️
Same to you!
Thanks Bob! I'm always amazed how many more parts are on a 201. 😅
Oh my goodness!! We've had an email discussion about my 15-91 stitch issues. I thought it was fixed, but not. So just 2 days ago I took off needle bar thread guide and STRUGGLED getting it back together. Now here u r showing me how it should be done!! I'm going to recheck it to make sure I have it right! As always great help! 🥰
It's a beautiful morning. Happy wearing of the green...........lol
You too!! I must have a surface color perception problem, I think my shirt is red.. LOL
I like the trick with the q-tip! Even easier than tilting the machine back on the handwheel end.
You must love those screw starters, makes live a little easyer
I can't say thank you enough! Yes I do!
Can you please share the source for the screw starters! Thanks.
The ones in the video (the brass with the steel inserts) were a gift. McMaster Carr has some nice ones on their website (the ones that look like screwdrivers are real nice, I also have, but am not a fan of, their tight clearance ones):

Top-O-Mornin to ya.
I don't know about the top... It was 3AM by the time I got this in the can and headed off to bed! So many freaking reshoots on such a simple video...
Thank you for this video! Though I have the manuals, I love learning by watching. I have a 201-2 that I have hesitated to clean, now I think u will give it a go!
Glad it was helpful!
Awesome content! Do you measure the grams of tension at zero setting (ie: 15g) or just go by the balanced stitch method? Thank you!
On 15 class machines, I measure bobbin case tension with a TOWA gauge, on 66 class, I pretty much go by balanced stitch, though I have a few other tricks up my sleeve...
