      I could be wrong but I think she keeps her twists in a day or so before she takes them down. I know if I leave my twists in a week my twist out lasts way longer. But ain’t nobody really got time for that, I get it 😅 The multi-day twist out is a struggle! I get some success on my high shrinkage hair with sleeping in two low pigtail buns, if that even makes sense 😣

    Dying my hair was the biggest mistake I've ever made...I damaged my hair sooo bad,😪...but once the color started to grow out, I noticed how the texture and health changed. Didn't chop it off just let it grow out, now I'm started to get the health back just a little, baby steps. You hair tho..has been my #hairgoals for a while..your hair is bomb...love it..

    I am so happy with what you said towards the end about how you feel you are a better version of yourself now. I have DEF seen a difference in you over the years! Not just with your techniques and hair styles, but, more importantly, with you as a person! I feel like you are so much more comfortable in your own skin and are more at peace within yourself. I really noticed a big change (especially on your vlog channel) after you had Theo. You seem like a different person! You are so beautiful and full of life, and I am so grateful for you, your family, and your journey! Thank you for taking us along for the ride. It’s been absolutely breathtaking to watch!!

    I've been watching so many of the older "natural hair gurus", including Whitney since they big chopped... I learned more by observing the mistakes they made than from their advice. It's really cool to watch entire hair journeys than watch a single video and immediately apply it to your regimen... Like when she highlighted her hair... My brain was like "Nooooo, Whitney, for the love of God, NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!"

    “Sometimes nursing your hair back to health is the best thing that could’ve happened to you...” (or something like that) THANKSSSS FOR SAYING THAT! I’m so glad I watched this until the end! Currently rocking a FADE because of a feed-in braid style gone horribly wrong. Traction alopecia included. 😧😰🙄🙄 so now, I’m at square one but also learning new things about my hair & scalp. I’m having the issue now of retaining length and dealing with breakage. I find myself having to keep trim/cut my hair way more often than I used to. This video helped me realize that I need to go back to finger detangling and cowashing, which I lived by about 2 or 3 years ago. My hair was healthier then than it is now (now that I think about it lol) as well as my hair retained moisture wayyy longer compared to now! Thank you for the reminder 😌

      Try apple cider vinegar instead of shampoo every once in a while. It really cleans the hair and scalp without being stripping. Works for my low porosity hair. 😊

      T Marie You're welcome! Make sure to dilute the ACV with water so it's not too acidic. I typically do half water, half ACV, but you can add more water if you like.

      I used to do ACV rinses, but the smelllllll 😩 It used to make me sad. lol It took so long to rinse out. Do you put anything to mask the smell?? I may try some essential oils. Not sure what will work best.

    • @ComfortablyPlump
      @ComfortablyPlump 6 років тому +4

      Helene I don't do anything to mask the smell because it doesn't bother me that much. My hair doesn't even smell like ACV after the wash process is over. The essential oil is a good idea tho, hopefully you find one strong enough.

    Healthy AND long! That's the goal! I big chopped a second time last year because my hair was long and thick but unhealthy and tangled. I wide tooth comb mine now because finger detangling just doesn't handle it by itself. You live and you learn!

      Hey Moana !! Try stretching your hair first! I like to use curlformers to stretch the hair and have a nice "base" to work with for a clean twist out pattern. You can also control how the hair lays, a bit better when you stretch it first! Check out my "softest most defined twist out" video! It's all in there! (I think that's what it's called... 😊❤️)

      Nina Mosley hey! Twists out sucks for me too. Sometimes it’s the hair texture. If you hair coarse hair. Twists outs work. If it’s more fine. Twists out sucks.

    I’ve been following you for years and I’m right with you. I looked back at pictures of my hair when I wasn’t shampooing and I was cowashing and my hair was great. I strayed away and did things that made my hair dry and brittle. Now I’m back to natural hair products and being kind and my hair loves it. Thanks for sharing this!!!

    After 7 years of being natural I'm at the the stage of nursing my hair back to health. This year I'm practicing patience and consistency. Going back to basics in doing what works for my hair.

    I love that you don’t put so many restrictions on yourself anymore! It’s stressful & when you’re in the public eye, people scrutinize you for deviating the tiniest bit from your routine.

    Great advice girl! I am now realizing your third advice, less wash n gos to retain length! :)

    • @Naptural85
      @Naptural85  6 років тому +7

      XoXo!! Thanks Iyda Michael !!! Yea that's just me personally! Some girls see normal growth with wash and Gos I def think it depends on your curl pattern! I've got such tight little curls and coarse hair, that keeping them stretched helps me out so much! Someone with bigger curls or a softer texture might not have that issue! ❤️❤️ (gotta set my disclaimer so ppl don't get mad!! 😆😆💯😘)

      When I first went natural I fell in love with my curl pattern. I wore wash and gos exclusively for the first 3 years. It took me another year to realize that it wasn’t good for my hair and kept me at shoulder length for all of those years. Some looser curled naturals can wear them and be ok but I can’t. Do what works for you.

      Naptural85 can you do an updated twist out video? I really don't see a difference in manipulation between twist outs and wash and goes on 4a or tight curls. Still gotta work through the coils either way

    Yaaasss!!! I so needed to see this. I’ve been struggling with feeling guilty for not doing certain things with my hair that I used to and keeping a strict hair care schedule. The way my life is set up, I just haven’t the time. It feels good so see someone else talk about this because it creates a sense of normalcy, like it’s a part of curlygirl evolution in general. Thanks Whit, you’re the best. ✌🏾💚🙏🏾
