“Complimentarianism" is the theological view in Christianity, that men and women have different but complementary roles and responsibilities in marriage, family life, religious leadership, and elsewhere. Complementarians assign primary "headship" roles to men and support roles to women-based on their interpretation of certain biblical passages. One of the precepts of complementarianism is that while women may assist in the decision-making process, the ultimate authority for the decision is the purview of the male in marriage, courtship, and in the polity of churches subscribing to this view.
This theology can be incredibly damaging and oppressing to many women. It is a restriction solely based on gender. It's sexism, point blank. Some have criticized complementarianism as promoting a power imbalance that facilitates abuse. Many Christians (especially men) completely dismiss women that express the deep spiritual trauma this theology causes.
On the flip side, Christian egalitarianism, also known as biblical equality, is egalitarianism based in Christianity. In theological spheres, egalitarianism generally means equality in authority and responsibilities between genders, in contrast to complementarianism. Gender equality is biblically sound in Christian church leadership (including pastors and elders) and in Christian marriage. Its theological foundations are interpretations of the teachings and example of Jesus Christ and other New Testament principles. It refers to a biblically-based belief that gender, in and of itself, neither privileges nor curtails a believer's gifting or calling to any ministry in the church or home. This entails women being able to exercise spiritual authority as clergy. In marriage, it means both the husband and wife mutually submit to each other, sharing leadership. There is no gender hierarchy. We should always includes Ephesians 5:21 when its comes to marriage. An equal partnership in Christ is a beautiful thing.
This theology liberates women to use their giftings and abilities in any capacity. If she has a calling to be a pastor, or has strong leadership skills, she is free to use her God given talents in both the home and church. She is listened to. She is valued. She is given the same respect and opportunities as her brothers in Christ. She is seen as a co-heir to the Kingdom.
Jesus liberated women. Christians today should do the same.

All for what? Enforcing the responsibility of Children, forced child care, and forced responsibility of children, yet the leading excuse for abortion is just that, avoiding responsibility of Children. Killed by the millions to avoid responsibility. 2010-2014, an estimated of 56 million children are chop up each year worldwide. How many people died in ww2? 60 million people, it is a holocaust every year. How do we justify this under law of justice, equal, and fair treatment? Where is the egalitarianism? Estimates for the total number killed in wars throughout all of human history range from 150 million to 1 billion. Using the 2010 abortion rates, in ten years that five hundred sixty million. In 20 years alone women will have killed more children then all the wars ever killed people, and all of them combined. Where's the equality? Shouldn't these women face 20 years in prison that they force men to face for the same reasons that these abortions are being used for, the avoidance of the responsibility of a Child?
Abortion was legalised by the Nazi eugenics programs, Lebensborn Nazi's breeding program, for disabled children, or other unwanted. When 94% of abortions are the avoidance of the responsibility of a Child, what do you think the state considers all women now? Disable and unfit to raise children and/ or undesirable to reproduce, this is what you are saying. "You are to irresponsible and/or incompetent to have children therefore you need to abort them." Children are raised by the state, and soon will be conceived, developed, and engineered in state-owned breeding centers.

I'm Christian but Egalitarian. I chose Egalitarianism over simply being a Feminist because one I don't want *anyone* from an *unchosen* group of people to be treated unfairly. It doesn't matter your race, country of origin, sex, G.I.D., or sexuality, or ect. Everyone should have equal right, privileges, and *opportunities.*
The second reason I don't title myself as a feminist is because of a problem that *A LOT* of social groups face and that's *tribalism.* People tend to ignore the wrong doings of people in their groups while attacking people outside of their group for the same things. Feminist are no different. They ignore sections of Feminism that are against trans women and sex workers. They ignore it when people like Hillary called black teens "super predators" or when Michelle Obama said that women were the primary victims of war completely ignoring all the dead men that died in those wars. Also there was a female feminist politician from Canada that said that "we should put men in zoos, and check them out like library books." and nobody in any Feminist camps check her on this statement. I don't want to be a part of any group that suffers from tribalism of this degree.

G G no I totally understand that is not what “I’m not a feminist” means. However the definition of feminism is to have equality for women the same way men have equality amongst them self. not that I want anybody to submit or subscribe to a label that they’re not comfortable with but I don’t believe in labels as in final God is grey is the epitome of this she is a Christian however some of her viewpoints are very different and even controversial to what most people might consider Christian values it even offens her when people call her not a real Christian for having these beliefs. in the same way being a feminist doesn’t mean you agree with all feminist it simply means that you support the right of women to be equal to men. I don’t mean to offend you when I say “just call yourself a feminist” I just mean that the word shouldn’t be taken as an insult or a burden to carry. I’m just really passionate about this because it just reminds me of how my people treat each other black people don’t necessarily want to be associated with darker tone people because of the connotation that other people have given to us. So you might hear a child say I’m not dark skin I’m brown skin as if the dark skin connotation was a rash that she would be left with and forced to defend her whole entire life. I would hate to see this in the women’s community where being a feminist doesn’t mean that you support equal rights between men and women ,it means that there is something more sinister or something more complicated to the word.In reality I would totally love people to ditch the labels and just love one another as Jesus intended however I know that it is important to speak up and voice my opinion’s when I feel someone is not being treated equally that’s all I meant by that I’m sorry if I offended you in anyway.❤️😊

Loved this video! I think God spoke to me through the conversation between you & Sarah. When you asked about how to know if something came from God or not & she said to ask if it was something Jesus would say & to ask what kind of fruit it was bearing, I thought that seems like exactly what God would want us to do. I'm going through some problems at work & am not sure there's a place for me there. This really helped so I think I'm going to start asking what Jesus would say about my situation. I know that it's definitely not producing good fruit, at least not for me because it's harming my mental health. Wow... As soon as I typed that, the words "there's your answer" popped into my head. Maybe God does want me to fight how things are going. I'm not usually one to talk much about what I'm going through but there it is. This is definitely a safe space for me. Thank you so much for such an enlightening conversation. Would love to hear more in the future from the two of you. God bless 💜

Fascinating as this is, aren't the vast majority of women in the Bible mentioned because they are mothers (of men)? Whenever someone says the Bible is feminist I think of, really, a lot of the things Brenda has already mentioned. Sexist period laws and so on. The bible is very, very, very patriarchal. All leading up to a man who is the ruler of all creation, a total and complete patriarchy. That's about a patriarchal as you can get, right? And he was the son of a teenager who was asked by an all-powerful God to have his child. How can a vulnerable teen say no to the God she's been taught to obey? I mean he's God. So there' kind of a power imbalance, right? Sorry for the buzz-kill. But that's how I feel.

@Tina Yael Severinovna M. So, getting some info, I literally just googled "lists, women, mothers" and a list of women in the bible came up. The vast majority are mother's or daughters of far better known biblical men. And yes, the Pharoah's daughter saved Moses. Who grew into a man. A man who would go on to play a larger role than her. You see the pattern.
Yes, a minority of women have actual roles. Though Esther is the only one you mentioned who is unambiguously heroic in a truly grand scale and selfless way. Eve sinned (by sin I mean disobeyed her male creator) then seduced her husband into sinning. And brought down humankind. Lydia is barely mentioned. What mention there is tells about her being rescued by famous and powerful men. Martha is berated by Jesus for doing her job.
The Catholic church does have truly inspiring women sts. Though the vast majority are men.
I'm not saying you're entirely wrong. There is a minority of women in the Bible portrayed as powerful. They are though, a handful in a male-dominated book. Cheers.

Hey about the menstruating laws I would like to tell you that the patriarchal tradition is not the dominant one in the bible. Even if you just consider leviticus the word used means to set aside (because it is holy) as such the menstruating women is not a bleeding dragon that eats men as breakfast, no, it is breaching the jewish cosmology by being something holy in their own right. (I took this from: Wholly woman holy blood.A feminist critique of purity and impurity by Kristin de Troyer. Especially I am referring to the article The semantics of taboo: menstrual taboos in hebrew bible by Kathleen O'Grady). And a very interesting thing I noticed: Most non-menstruating persons seem to be naturally drawn to menstruating persons if they're menstruating (to some extent gender breaching, though this is not the case for everyone). So I get your point but I think the problem is more about language and history (e.g. the second council which made the bible) than the content (though this is disputable)

We've all seen or perhaps know someone, children who are severely deformed, handicapped, crippled. Perhaps some have been severely burned or had limbs blown off in combat. It's heartbreaking!
Seth is healthy & enjoys skateboarding & listening to punk rock on vinyl records on his spare time, something he has lots of because he won't work. My guess is Seth still lives with mommy & mommy pays the electric bill so Seth can play video games, & keep his phone charged so he can whine & seek attention in chats.
I suggested instead of blowing his fucking brains out, he spend more time outside while maintaining a healthy diet & doing vigorous exercise like lifting weights & doing wind sprints etc. while putting in job applications, everywhere, then begin looking for a girlfriend, or just go to a bar, get drunk, maybe get laid, or get in a fight, test himself.
I also suggested he look into serving in the military, that it would discipline him & give him confidence. If the military doesn't suit him, look into trade school. Take a course in welding, something. Anything! Just stop being a whiney little manchild! It's creepy & weird!
Spartans: By 14, the boy is a survival expert. By 18, the best warrior on Earth.
Vikings: Age 6, boy learns Glima. Age 18, is a survival expert & skilled warrior.
Romans: Taught from birth that being strong & decisive is important. By age 8 is skilled in running & wrestling. By age 15, is ready to serve in legions.
Today, because of Marxism, progressivism & leftist ideologies, boys are taught from birth that males are inherently bad, especially white males. By age 6, is obese & addicted to video games. By 18, is a complete degenerate & coward that requires "safe spaces".

I like your content but I would like to offer this piece of feedback. I can’t bring myself to subscribe to you because of one thing. It’s the way you say: “donate to my patreon if you can”. It sounds entitled and I can’t get past it. Other than that your content is great.
There’s also the Amazon wish list thing. I feel like if you were asking for items to help with your channel it would be a bit of a turn off but I would understand. But it’s the fact that you are asking for your audience members to pay for items for your baby that rubs me the wrong way. I just don’t see how that helps with the cause.
It bothers me and I wish it didn’t. I want to keep watching your channel as I think you make great content and I think you are filling a niche on UA-cam. I don’t mean to attack. It’s just some honest feedback.

As an atheist I imagine the day that she realises that all that love she feels and all the kindness and generosity doesn't come from god, but from her beautiful brain. (I am aware that day might never come, but I hope it does, just so she can give herself the credit she deserves)

Monika If there’s something I know about Christianity and religion in general it’s this. It’s never so cut and dry as to just except “the message”. You are dealing with texts whose authenticity is extraordinarily unreliable. There’s also a lot of bullshit in the bible that any advanced being (if they exist) would never say just for the fact that to become that advanced moral judgement would have evolved for such a being eons before hand. Such a being would not create say women to serve as slaves to men, blame them for “sin” and forbid them from preaching. Men made all of that up. Add to that translation of a dead language hasn’t helped matters. Brenda points out in a video that the biblical translation for gay might actually mean pedophile instead. Which would make a great deal more sense.

Monika I used to pray to God all the time. I was a devote Christian but my ethics and moral compass were always at odds with the faith. Women can and should and do preach in church’s. There’s actually a theory that Mary Magdalene was supposed to lead Jesus’s church. The treatment of women in the bible is as barbaric as it is twisted, unethical and downright disgusting. As for providing sources I’d be happy to after I get off work. Lastly I come here because it’s nice to see someone from my old faith who isn’t so hateful. My question though is why do you come here? Do you deep down feel the same way I felt about the ethical breaches of Christianity? If so it’s okay to feel that way. I encourage you to watch more of Barbara 😀

God created the man from the soil and breathed the life into the man, calling him Adam. From there God put the man under a deep sleep and from his rib the womb-man Eve was created.
A wife is to look up to her husband as the husband is to look up to Christ. To deny the authority that God gives man over woman is to deny God Himself.
When the woman fell into temptation, sin and death, God cursed the woman to have great pains, and when the man fell into sin and death God punished Him accordingly as well. Our gender and sex roles are defined by God, not Man. A wife is not her own, she belongs to her husband. A husband is not his own, he belongs to his wife.
Jesus would spit on feminist ideology. Feminists are communists and communists deny all religion, not just Christ.

This would be romantic if all christians thought like you, their idea is the woman is a man's slave without any identity, wants or needs of her own. Just a human meat sack while the man is a full complete human beings with needs, wants and desires. See that's the problem here, not all christians have the same view as yourself which is why feminism WAS needed but now feminism isn't even helping women anymore. It's giving men who dress like women more power over real women.

Feminists are communists? Really? What is this, 1984?
Women were created as counterpart to man, not as pets or objects or property to man. As you might recall in Genesis, God made Eve solely so Adam would not be alone. She was his companion, and he was hers.
Women are as much made in the image of God as Men, to say that they must be subservient in all things disrespects God and his creation. It assumes God’s mind and his motives, which is very dangerous and egotistical.
