It says that one person is not going to go to hell because one aspect of who they are, the way someone else isn't going to go to heaven because an aspect of who they are is the opposite. Person A is not going to go to hell because just because they are female, the way Person B is not going to go to heaven just because they are male. Person A is not going to go to hell because they have brown hair, the way Person B is not going to go to heaven just because they are blonde. Person A is not going to go to hell just because they wear glasses, the way Person B is not going to go to heave just because they have 20/20 vision. The logic applies the same. Person A is not going to go to hell because they are gay, the way Person B is not going to go to heave just because they are straight.
@Spencer Tracy homosexuality exists in over 1000 different species, psychology and biology both confirm that who you are attracted to is innate and beyond your control. If you want to pretend homosexuality is wrong because SOME versions of an old book say so, that's your choice, but the rest of us are living in reality & would like you to join us.

Regardless of we think we have faith or not, we must test ourselves. None can take us out of God's hand. But if one is living for the world they probably don't have true faith. I was sexually assaulted repeatedly by a relative when I was 12-13yo. Eventually, when we had moved and he couldn't get to me anymore, I told a few people in my youth group that I had been raped but didn't give any real details. A few weeks later my youth pastor preached at me in front of _everyone_ that God saw me as unclean because I wouldn't be a virgin on my wedding night, and used me as an example for staying chaste. He said it over and over and over, "unclean in the eyes of God." I was already praying every night that God would either make me straight or kill me outright, I don't think I've ever felt more alone ever in my whole life. I've gotten a lot of therapy, and I've healed a ton. But to this day I don't think I could look my former youth pastor in the eyes.
It's really really really difficult to not request that pastor's address so I can go slap him across the face. NOT something Jesus would do THOUGH it might've been a turning over tables scenario. I want to cry. I just found your channel today and I've never heard a Christian message like this. I grew up in the church and just wanted to die from the guilty of being gay. I had to give up Christianity for my own mental health but you have truly touch me. Thank you
I am so sorry about what you went through as a child in the church. It is unfortunate that this is happening in our churches. I thank God that members of our churches are imperfect human beings and not Jesus Christ. It is Jesus Christ we are called to follow. He is perfect. Jesus never came to condemn the world, he came to rescue it from sin. However, i must say this in love, the message this young lady is giving people is unfortunately not the truth. It is not based on scripture. It sounds good but it is not the truth. God is very clear about his stance on the practicing of homosexuality( regardless of how human beings want to twist it) and on lying and stealing and lusting and hating others in your heart. The standard of God can never change because He does not change . But i am here to tell you that this is NOT bad news, it is GOOD news. We were born into sin, which means our desires and thoughts are mostly sinful. Some sinful deisres manifest themselves as homsexual feelings, some as desires to steal, and so much more. We are ALL by our very nature(by what comes natural to us, because many things that are natural to us are sinful) deserving of the wrath of God according to Gods word. Because we have all rebelled against Him in mostrous ways. We have made ourselves enemies against him in our minds. But even in that, God sent Jesus Christ into the world. He never sinned. Jesus became OUR sins on the cross (so he became our lies, our stealing our practing of homosexuality,our murder, our lust and e.t.c.) and the wrath of God was poured out on Him for the things we have done and He died for this. He paid for what we did wrong. But He rose on the third day and defeated the power of sin. Once he left the earth, He left us with His Holy spirit. The Holy spirit is the author of Gods word, he comforts us and he reveals the truth to us and as we continue to read His word we are transformed by His power from the inside out. We have all sinned and we all have ungodly desires but it is only when we make a conscious decision to completely surrender to Jesus Christ, that God can come and take over. Then He gives us eternal life and His spirit comes to live within us. His spirit comforts us also. So i challenge you today, Following Jesus means we must turn from all sin and deny ourself, pick our cross and follow him.The bible says we were made through Jesus and for Him, which means we are wired in such a way that the most pleasure we can ever recieve in life is not through our family or spouse, but through denying ourselves the things we want to follow Jesus alone. But we wont know this until we are actually following Him. In a one to one, day to day, personal relationship with Him and His word, being led and hearing the voice of His Holy spirit. He died to restore this intimate relationship which was lost after the fall of man. He gives lasting happiness, as compared to temporary pleasures on this earth. So the pleasures of this world may appear to to be lasting and a way out but they are not, chase after one pleasure leads to chase after another and another. Leaving the church to pursure any sin would not leave you satisfied and neither will pursuing the sin inside the church. We are eternal beings and we are wired in a way that living for, with, and in Jesus Christ is the only thing that can bring true permanent satisfaction. But you must turn from your sin and to Him first. This is the truth and i can prove it to you if you'd like.
@Justine B. Not guilt, but shame. See Satan would have us believe that because of our sin we cannot ever be forgiven but that is simply not true. This lie of believing we cannot be forgiven because our sin is called shame, and it is the feeling that leads people to despair. Guilt, on the other hand, is the objective truth that man is sinful and we cannot escape despair without the work of Jesus on the Cross. We are saved not through what we did but because God sent his only Son to bear the weight of all of our sins in order to bring us to eternal life. Jesus is the sole satisfactor of lonely souls and broken hearts. I write this to you not as a white Christian male on a pedestal of pride but as a broken sinner who has seen the love of God and has found the truer meaning of life through it. That is why I said that I pray that you find true love through Jesus Christ because the gospel (Jesus) is true love. I recently came out as bisexual and have been having a hard time dealing with the opinions and reactions of Christians around me, especially because I myself am a Christian. It has strained my relationship with God and had me questioning my beliefs every few days. Anxious thoughts of "what if they're right and you won't find out until it's too late" swarm in my mind and honestly I've just done my best to ignore them. I relate 100% to this. I can feel that me being bi is not a sin but there was so many times where I would be so scared that I'm not a good christian and that I'm sinning. Also my parents keep telling me that homosexuality is a sin and they don't accept it and it hurts me so much because they have no clue about me being bi. As a christian lesbian who spent years trying to fully accept myself because, though I didn't really believe it was wrong, 'What if it is?' Both this video and 'Are christians homophobic' were really great to watch. Also the fact that my cousin, who is one of only two people that I have 'come out' to, pointed me in the direction of your channel is feels really great because I know I will have someone in my corner when I tell the rest of my family. You are one of the reasons why I am starting to come back to my faith. I was shamed away from my church for being gay and for that, I had extremely hard feelings and I have not attended church. I almost stopped believing in God. This was all because I was told that God hated me and that I was going to Hell... I was 12. I heard it for 5 years of my life. I almost killed myself because of it. Thank you for loving us like Jesus would. Thank you for speaking out on this matter. It means so much to me and to so many LGBT kids.

Hey guys, how about you don't try arguing about stuff that you haven't actually studied? Simply reading the Bible and taking all of it at face value is 100% not what you are supposed to do. Don't make it say what you want it to say, you are supposed to exegesis the text and find out the context in which it was written. Anyone ever consider that we sometimes, as humans, can't always understand everything about God? Or everything the Bible is saying? That's why we have theology and theologians that still study the Bible and figure out what to do with it in our ever changing context? Also if you listen you'll find that Brenda never says that what she is saying is absolute Truth, just what she has concluded through extensive research. Ultimately, God decides, and he will judge each person, we can't judge for him and constantly tell people that they are going to Hell because they're gay. Every human is made in Gods image, and God loves the LGBTQ+ community just as much as he loves the church community.

Not only that, the Bible wasnt directly written by God himself, I believe if it was it would be a WHOLE different message with some scriptures. We as Christians have to take into account that the Bible was written by humans who make mistakes and more often then not influenced by the societal standards at the time. Of course you can read the Bible to understand God's word but to take every verse literally is not the way you should go about it.
There are so many Christians who think that the English translation of the Bible is exactly how God intended it, still the infallible word of God, who don’t even consider the original translation as valid. As if everything that has ever been done to, translated from, or cited from the Bible is 100% still the inspired word of God. They don’t take into account the human part of the process. I’ve heard countless times that the Greek translation for homosexuality in the Bible is likely referring to pedophilia, but most Christians would scoff at this on the basis that “If God meant ‘pedophilia’ it would say that in English.”

I relate to the shame element so much. after I got married (not a virgin lol) I found myself getting angry at my husband for wanting sex. and it was a direct result of an entire life of being programmed to think sex is wrong and dirty unless you're married. having a ring on your finger doesn't magically negate those feelings. after having much resentment towards christianity, your videos are slowly pulling me back into it. i have always had that gut feeling about the hatred for lgbtq persons in christians, it didn’t make sense and i felt like as a pretty involved christian at that time i could not even think about not being heterosexual, i was so scared. after coming to the terms that i was not heterosexual, i completely pushed everything god away, i didn’t want to feel the disappointment at all. but after a lot of time (& this channel) i don’t think god hates me. i don’t think god would send me to hell for being me, god is love. only a hateful god would do that. but anyway than you so much for this. this content is so so important.
I stan for our Queen. Thank you for speaking about this topic in an intelligent and empowering way. I myself became a Christian about 2 years ago. I had never viewed homosexuality as wrong until a few months ago, when a friend and I got into a heated debate about the subject. I don’t believe it is a sin. I don’t believe that it’s wrong, but for a little while I questioned it. No matter what I feel, I will always stand up for my LGBT brothers and sisters. I will always defend their validity as both Christians and people- because I believe that is exactly what Jesus wants from us.

Videos like this are what keep me from abandoning Christianity altogether. I still have some misgivings, but it’s SO comforting to know that I’m not insane for believing that God wouldn’t want a gay person to either be celibate forever or burn in hell. I grew up in a Christian household and I didn't have a bad childhood. My mom was a single parent and she did everything she could to raise me well and keep food in my belly and clothes on my back. I knew from a young age that I liked both girls and boys. I didn't see anything wrong with it because I loved a woman with the love God gave me. I distanced myself with the church I grew up in because they laid off my mother who worked there for over 14 years with no notice. They cast us aside and I lost all my friends because I didn't continue attending. I was in love with my best friend at the time and I know she knew. I kept my heart at a distance so I could just be her friend but she eventually cut ties with me as well. I've been spit on and cursed by people I grew up with when they found out. I was hurt and crushed to know people I trusted wanted to throw "stones" at me for my "sin" of loving a woman. I had trouble keeping my faith for years, I blamed God for all the horrible things that happened and for my sister dying suddenly. I finally started talking to God again and feel more peaceful and less anxious about every little thing, your channel has helped me so much and this series has made me feel even more at peace. I know God loves me just as I am. I'm in a relationship with a wonderful man but obviously still find women very attractive, my boyfriend is one of the only people who have supported my sexuality and hasn't felt one bit threatened by it. I just wanna say thank you for making videos and speaking out against hypocrisy in Christianity. You've motivated me to start reading the bible again and maybe I'll attend church again after 4 years sometime soon. Keep being awesome ♡

I'm not Christian personally but I absolutely love your channel and I'm just binge watching it while I work on crafting. Being raised in a very toxic home where my mom would just from toxic Paganism to toxic Christianity, it's amazing to see someone who is showing it in such a positive light on a platform like this, where other teens and young adults can be exposed to what Christianity can be.
This is coming in the right time for me. I am christian and I've never felt comfortable with treating homosexuality as a sin. I've supported LGBTQ+ and my family always saw that as a bad thing. I've been hearing them talking about them and how they think is so wrong and for a really long time I stood there in silence because I was christian and I thought I was suppossed to think the same. But I never did. In middle school, my friend came out as bi to me and I was so proud of her to trusting me enough to tell me that even though she knew I was christian. When I came home I told my mom that and she said "poor girl, she's so lost" and I was so angry. All these years all I've ever tried to do is helping them to be more open-minded and to judge a little bit less. I can't tell you I completely accomplished it. But at least they know what I stand for and they respect it. And now that I'm in high school I met two friends whom are gay and I try to let them know that not all christians are judgemental and that there are people who supports them.

Before I came out I had an unmovable relationship with God. I grew up in the Bible Belt in East Tennessee. I had never heard of an affirming church until I began researching whether or not I had a seat at the table of Christ. After coming out, I quit seeking God’s heart. I feel like with all this controversy here in the comment section on her opinion of gay marriage not being a sin being false, we just need to seek the holy spirits guidance on issues where we are not sure . As an Atheist (first of all I love all of your videos so much), I agree with all of these points so much. It's so incredibly important to think deeply about how we want to express ourselves in all departments, compartmentalizing leads to poor decisions and a lot of hurt. I agree that a lot of Christian teachings forces people to compartmentalize their sexuality away from their spirituality until the second they are married in a heterosexual relationship. Sexuality is beautiful and can and should be expressed in a deeply loving and spiritual way.

Wow just seen this second part, I'm a gay Christian I didn't come out until 2013 when I was 41 because I couldn't reconcile being gay and Christian I voluntarily had conversion therapy I was desperate to change who I am. Even though I'm out and am part of a Christian lgbt organisation here in the UK who participate in Pride, I do still struggle with several issues including sex this video has so helped me she really knows her stuff and appears so loving, this is one video I will def save if I need help with my doubts. It's one thing to know what God is telling you about who you love, but it's another thing with someone else agreeing. The church is very oppressive at times to this topic, and although I know God is very much telling me the right thing, and I feel it in my gut that that voice in my head is the Holy Spirit, I am still a doubtful and flawed person. No matter how many times I hear God telling me "I love you, and I made you exactly how I wanted you to be," the voice of humanity still strikes like a cobra. It's so... refreshing, I guess you would put it, to hear that one voice in the mocking and hurting crowd saying "they're wrong." Thank you.

Hi Brenda, I've come across your channel in the last few months and can see you have such a light in you and the love of God in your heart. It's a beautiful thing to witness. For everyone in the comments stating that what Brenda is saying is unbiblical: I suggest you read a book by Karen Armstrong titled, "The Case for God." Realistically people, the Bible as we have it today was not intended to be taken as a literal account in all instances. You are to seek God in "spirit," and in "truth" you worship Him. There are only two spirits available to us: good, and evil. What we embody is up to us. That is the free will granted to us by God. The main arguments made in the book include the fact that the Israelites worshipped, shock horror, multiple gods, before they decided that Yahweh would become "The God of Israel," i.e. "The Most High". There are clearly discrepancies in the presentation of "The Most High" god in the Bible. Let's not kid ourselves. We know that it is wrong to kill another human being, yet "god" killed mothers and their unborn children because of the sins of one or two men. "God" "tempted" Saul with an evil spirit, and let "Satan" torture Job, who was declared to be a righteous man. Clearly, we're missing something. My personal understanding from searching for God for a long time and now being in a relationship with Him through His incarnate Word, Jesus Christ, is that we are called to have faith in the Truth that was revealed to us in God's fleshly revelation of Himself in Jesus Christ. He states that the adversary comes to "steal, kill and destroy." That adversary is what we name as "Satan". In reality, it is the "spirit of evil" that causes us to turn away from God. That's it. Any decision that we make that goes against God's true nature, which is love, mercy, forgiveness, kindness, patience, and taking a proactive role to make other people's lives better, is not of God. That includes teachings such as eternal hell for people that reject God. Jesus is the saviour of "all men" and will draw all men to Him through His finished work on the cross. That is the gospel. We are so arrogant to believe that we have to be perfect Christians in order to be loved by God. It doesn't work like that. God's love is given freely, infinitely and purely to everyone, but we do not come to know Him until we humble ourselves at Jesus's feet and accept that in our human state, we just don't have the capacity to allow ourselves to be fully loved and to give that love unconditionally to others. We don't believe that sort of love exists. The love that pardons all our mistakes, overlooks our faults, and accepts us where we are right now while guiding us towards a better tomorrow in our walk with God. That is why we are on earth, and what we are called to learn. It's incredibly humbling when you realise that we just don't know it all, but we all strive and yearn for total acceptance. I can only imagine how hard it is for people to be repeatedly told by Christians and churches that they are unworthy of being loved by God. That is not true at all. As a caveat, however, I will say this from my own experience and relationship with God. Some behaviours are not conducive to your relationship with God. That is between you and God. He gives to everyone what they need in their lives right now to draw you to Him. Seek Jesus and you will be given answers; He listens to all who call upon Him.

A question is not, "Would God strip you as a gay person of the chance of intimacy and love?", rather it is, "What is love?" God is Grey, you're looking very much to the worldly definition of love & sometimes we have to set aside our own desires to follow Jesus'. He told us to pick up our cross - if we are trying to make the Christian life easy, and striving for acceptance from other men, we are not achieving anything. Like you, I've always struggled to fit the 'mould' as a Christian girl, so I definitely empathise with you a lot; but your views are not biblical a lot of the time. I do see how you believe Christ is your Saviour though, and that alone brings you to heaven so in no way am I doubting your Salvation. It's clear you love Jesus & God, but as a sister in Christ I can't sit here watching your videos and commend you for trying to hold the world in one hand and Jesus in the other. @@ddrse this is not the gospel. The gospel is that we have ALL SINNED and are by our very nature i.e. by the desires and things that appear and feel natural to us, deserving of wrath. Desires to steal, to lust after another person, to murder, to lie, desires for the same sex, desires to hate and e.t.c are all sinful desires. Many of which by nature we have no control over but are still sinful in His eyes. The good News is God sent His Son into the world, to take on and pay for the sin of the world, so that once we recive Him and turn from ALL OUR SIN. We will not perish but have everlasting life. His spirit will come and live in us and give us power to overcome sin and a brand new heart. While we are in an intimate, day to day, relationship with Him and His word. Negative reactions to the practicing of homosexuality is not homophobia, it is love for them. Jesus has a negative reaction to it, because it is a sin. And the wages of sin is death and death eternal. Wont you have a negative reaction to something that could hurt someone regardless of how much the person loves and is attached to the thing. When you encourage someone to pursue it you are encouraging them to reject the gift of Jesus Christ which is salvation and chase after their own sin and pleasures which will lead them to destruction. You think you are helping them but you are hurting them. Jesus has his hands wide open waiting to recieve us all if we Just turn from all our sins and pleasures, deny ourself and run to Him to heal our brokenness. You are encouraging them to embrace and cling to an aspect of something that appears and feels natural to them when JESUS CHRIST said if anyone wants to follow me they MUST deny themselves, pick up their cross and follow me. We must walk away from pursuing ourselves and other people and walk into pleasing Jesus alone. Please think about this.
To follow the truth does is not allways easy! It's not fun all the time. That's what we need to accept. And that so many christians have sex before mariage doesnt mean its the right thing to do! Seeing channels like this makes my heart soar, I'm a Christian who currently a closeted queer person and I live with an anti-lgbt family and seeing your channel made me so happy and it gave me so much hope for the future.
I want to cry. I'm not Christian and really never would have called myself one, despite my dad's family being Christians. But one of my best friends was Irish Catholic. This was never an issue, until I was sixteen and I realized I'm a lesbian. I wanted to tell him, but I was really scared I would lose him if I did. Then late one night he texts me, asking if I'm up and can he call me. I say yes and yes and he's in tears. He tells me he's gay and he's terrified of going to Hell. I tell him he's not, he's not sure, so the following exchange happens Me: Am I going to Hell? Him: No, of course not. God doesn't care if you're Jewish, just that you're a good person. Me: I've been meaning to tell you. I'm a lesbian. Am I going to Hell? Him: ... no, you're not going to Hell. Me: Then neither are you. That seemed to help him calm down and we talked a little more about how we figured out we were gay and laughed a little and obviously that didn't cure his fears entirely but it gave him hope. I wish this video existed back then, because I think it would have helped him a lot. I mean, despite the fact that I was there for him, I could really only help him accept that he was gay, I couldn't help him reconcile that with his faith because I didn't share it.

The third commandment states, “Thou shall not take the name of the Lord in vain.” God isn’t talking about throwing around omg’s. It has exhausted me to constantly defend my right to exist. It feels it has consumed all my energy. No gay person I known ever have chosen it. Still straight people that know nothing on the subject are adamant stating "it is a choice". How arrogant. People are being bullied, shunned, imprisoned and executed for being gay. How would that be a choice?
Why would someone chose to do heroin, even though it makes their life miserable. People make bad choices because they like the pleasure, then they get addicted to the dopamine.

Honestly the church (evangelical Presbyterian) I grew up going to made **heterosexuality** seem like a sin. If you thought about sex before marriage or had urges Jesus would burn down an orphanage.
I left the Church for many reasons, but homophobia was one of the biggest reasons. I am openly gay and look it, and I feel genuinely afraid of going into religious spaces a lot of the time. But I don't feel that here. You're actually kind and cool about and I'm so glad that *someone* is actually talking about this

WOW!! WOW!! Finally I found a channel that makes sense about bible and faith is about! I have been thinking this way since I was a teenager and I didn't feel like my faith (grown catholic) had conflicts with me being gay. Since all is about LOVE! Excellent video as usual! Just wanted to add that the way most Christians understand homosexuality as a sin was by St. John Chrysostom. His infamous Homily on Homosexuality condemned all forms of same-sex relations and even taught homosexuality as worse a sin than murder. Basically, he was very homophobic and his teachings would make Christianity hostile to homosexuals for years to come.

So I was in that kind of mood where I wanted to feel mad and looked up Christian takes on homosexuality. I was not expecting this channel. I am kind of a “technical Christian”. I go to church but am not really able to believe in God. While this channel hasn’t helped me be able to reconcile the existence of a God, it has greatly helped me stop being disillusioned from the church. You act like how I think a true Christian should: preaching love and acceptance, and encouraging people to act as Jesus truly would.
I used to be a lesbian. I tried balancing God and being gay at the same time and it led me away from God every. single. time. If God warns against something, it's for a reason. And having sex outside of God's order, may it be heterosexual or homosexual affects your emotional wellbeing, you get tied to a person intimately and when they leave(since they don't have a commitment with you protected by God) it rips you apart, it affects your soul. God didn't want this or intended that for us, that's why He warns about it, because sin hurts the sinner. The reason Jesus came was to save us from the natural inclination to sin that we inhereted from Adam and Eve, lest we destroy ourselves and our souls.

We live in a fallen world yes and what we feel and act can be difficult but no temptation is too great for God to handle it. We have to give up our lives for Christ to live in us. Person A is not going to go to hell because just because they are female, the way Person B is not going to go to heaven just because they are male. Person A is not going to go to hell because they have brown hair, the way Person B is not going to go to heaven just because they are blonde. Person A is not going to go to hell just because they wear glasses, the way Person B is not going to go to heave just because they have 20/20 vision.
The logic applies the same.

I was sexually assaulted repeatedly by a relative when I was 12-13yo. Eventually, when we had moved and he couldn't get to me anymore, I told a few people in my youth group that I had been raped but didn't give any real details.
A few weeks later my youth pastor preached at me in front of _everyone_ that God saw me as unclean because I wouldn't be a virgin on my wedding night, and used me as an example for staying chaste. He said it over and over and over, "unclean in the eyes of God."
I was already praying every night that God would either make me straight or kill me outright, I don't think I've ever felt more alone ever in my whole life.
I've gotten a lot of therapy, and I've healed a ton. But to this day I don't think I could look my former youth pastor in the eyes.
It's really really really difficult to not request that pastor's address so I can go slap him across the face. NOT something Jesus would do THOUGH it might've been a turning over tables scenario.

I am so sorry about what you went through as a child in the church. It is unfortunate that this is happening in our churches. I thank God that members of our churches are imperfect human beings and not Jesus Christ. It is Jesus Christ we are called to follow. He is perfect. Jesus never came to condemn the world, he came to rescue it from sin. However, i must say this in love, the message this young lady is giving people is unfortunately not the truth. It is not based on scripture. It sounds good but it is not the truth. God is very clear about his stance on the practicing of homosexuality( regardless of how human beings want to twist it) and on lying and stealing and lusting and hating others in your heart. The standard of God can never change because He does not change . But i am here to tell you that this is NOT bad news, it is GOOD news.
We were born into sin, which means our desires and thoughts are mostly sinful. Some sinful deisres manifest themselves as homsexual feelings, some as desires to steal, and so much more. We are ALL by our very nature(by what comes natural to us, because many things that are natural to us are sinful) deserving of the wrath of God according to Gods word. Because we have all rebelled against Him in mostrous ways. We have made ourselves enemies against him in our minds. But even in that, God sent Jesus Christ into the world. He never sinned. Jesus became OUR sins on the cross (so he became our lies, our stealing our practing of homosexuality,our murder, our lust and e.t.c.) and the wrath of God was poured out on Him for the things we have done and He died for this. He paid for what we did wrong. But He rose on the third day and defeated the power of sin. Once he left the earth, He left us with His Holy spirit. The Holy spirit is the author of Gods word, he comforts us and he reveals the truth to us and as we continue to read His word we are transformed by His power from the inside out.
We have all sinned and we all have ungodly desires but it is only when we make a conscious decision to completely surrender to Jesus Christ, that God can come and take over. Then He gives us eternal life and His spirit comes to live within us. His spirit comforts us also. So i challenge you today, Following Jesus means we must turn from all sin and deny ourself, pick our cross and follow him.The bible says we were made through Jesus and for Him, which means we are wired in such a way that the most pleasure we can ever recieve in life is not through our family or spouse, but through denying ourselves the things we want to follow Jesus alone. But we wont know this until we are actually following Him. In a one to one, day to day, personal relationship with Him and His word, being led and hearing the voice of His Holy spirit. He died to restore this intimate relationship which was lost after the fall of man. He gives lasting happiness, as compared to temporary pleasures on this earth.
So the pleasures of this world may appear to to be lasting and a way out but they are not, chase after one pleasure leads to chase after another and another. Leaving the church to pursure any sin would not leave you satisfied and neither will pursuing the sin inside the church. We are eternal beings and we are wired in a way that living for, with, and in Jesus Christ is the only thing that can bring true permanent satisfaction. But you must turn from your sin and to Him first. This is the truth and i can prove it to you if you'd like.

This lie of believing we cannot be forgiven because our sin is called shame, and it is the feeling that leads people to despair. Guilt, on the other hand, is the objective truth that man is sinful and we cannot escape despair without the work of Jesus on the Cross. We are saved not through what we did but because God sent his only Son to bear the weight of all of our sins in order to bring us to eternal life. Im really proud of you. I've known I was ace for a while, and recently I realized I was bi. I struggle with my faith a lot, but it's things like this that give me hope I can keep practicing my faith.
I want to genuinely thank you for making this series. I recently came out as bisexual and have been having a hard time dealing with the opinions and reactions of Christians around me, especially because I myself am a Christian. It has strained my relationship with God and had me questioning my beliefs every few days. Anxious thoughts of "what if they're right and you won't find out until it's too late" swarm in my mind and honestly I've just done my best to ignore them. But hearing you talk about this gives me hope that I am saved, that they are not right, and I don't have to worry about any of it. I relate 100% to this. I can feel that me being bi is not a sin but there was so many times where I would be so scared that I'm not a good christian and that I'm sinning. Also my parents keep telling me that homosexuality is a sin and they don't accept it and it hurts me so much because they have no clue about me being bi. As a christian lesbian who spent years trying to fully accept myself because, though I didn't really believe it was wrong, 'What if it is?' Both this video and 'Are christians homophobic' were really great to watch. Also the fact that my cousin, who is one of only two people that I have 'come out' to, pointed me in the direction of your channel is feels really great because I know I will have someone in my corner when I tell the rest of my family. I don't know what everyones opinions on this topic are, but I know that at least my parents and grandparents are what you called the 'literalists' and I know that will be a hard time in my life.

I almost stopped believing in God. This was all because I was told that God hated me and that I was going to Hell... I was 12. I heard it for 5 years of my life. I almost killed myself because of it. Hey guys, how about you don't try arguing about stuff that you haven't actually studied? Simply reading the Bible and taking all of it at face value is 100% not what you are supposed to do. Don't make it say what you want it to say, you are supposed to exegesis the text and find out the context in which it was written.
Anyone ever consider that we sometimes, as humans, can't always understand everything about God? Or everything the Bible is saying? That's why we have theology and theologians that still study the Bible and figure out what to do with it in our ever changing context?

Ultimately, God decides, and he will judge each person, we can't judge for him and constantly tell people that they are going to Hell because they're gay. Every human is made in Gods image, and God loves the LGBTQ+ community just as much as he loves the church community.

Not only that, the Bible wasnt directly written by God himself, I believe if it was it would be a WHOLE different message with some scriptures. We as Christians have to take into account that the Bible was written by humans who make mistakes and more often then not influenced by the societal standards at the time. Of course you can read the Bible to understand God's word but to take every verse literally is not the way you should go about it.

There are so many Christians who think that the English translation of the Bible is exactly how God intended it, still the infallible word of God, who don’t even consider the original translation as valid. As if everything that has ever been done to, translated from, or cited from the Bible is 100% still the inspired word of God. They don’t take into account the human part of the process.

I relate to the shame element so much. after I got married (not a virgin lol) I found myself getting angry at my husband for wanting sex. and it was a direct result of an entire life of being programmed to think sex is wrong and dirty unless you're married. having a ring on your finger doesn't magically negate those feelings. after having much resentment towards christianity, your videos are slowly pulling me back into it. i have always had that gut feeling about the hatred for lgbtq persons in christians, it didn’t make sense and i felt like as a pretty involved christian at that time i could not even think about not being heterosexual, i was so scared. after coming to the terms that i was not heterosexual, i completely pushed everything god away, i didn’t want to feel the disappointment at all. but after a lot of time (& this channel) i don’t think god hates me. i don’t think god would send me to hell for being me, god is love. only a hateful god would do that. but anyway than you so much for this. this content is so so important.

I myself became a Christian about 2 years ago. I had never viewed homosexuality as wrong until a few months ago, when a friend and I got into a heated debate about the subject.
I don’t believe it is a sin. I don’t believe that it’s wrong, but for a little while I questioned it. No matter what I feel, I will always stand up for my LGBT brothers and sisters. I will always defend their validity as both Christians and people- because I believe that is exactly what Jesus wants from us.

I grew up in a Christian household and I didn't have a bad childhood. My mom was a single parent and she did everything she could to raise me well and keep food in my belly and clothes on my back. I knew from a young age that I liked both girls and boys. I didn't see anything wrong with it because I loved a woman with the love God gave me. I distanced myself with the church I grew up in because they laid off my mother who worked there for over 14 years with no notice. They cast us aside and I lost all my friends because I didn't continue attending. I was in love with my best friend at the time and I know she knew. I kept my heart at a distance so I could just be her friend but she eventually cut ties with me as well. I've been spit on and cursed by people I grew up with when they found out. I was hurt and crushed to know people I trusted wanted to throw "stones" at me for my "sin" of loving a woman. I had trouble keeping my faith for years, I blamed God for all the horrible things that happened and for my sister dying suddenly. I finally started talking to God again and feel more peaceful and less anxious about every little thing, your channel has helped me so much and this series has made me feel even more at peace. I know God loves me just as I am. I'm in a relationship with a wonderful man but obviously still find women very attractive, my boyfriend is one of the only people who have supported my sexuality and hasn't felt one bit threatened by it. I just wanna say thank you for making videos and speaking out against hypocrisy in Christianity. You've motivated me to start reading the bible again and maybe I'll attend church again after 4 years sometime soon. Keep being awesome ♡

This is coming in the right time for me. I am christian and I've never felt comfortable with treating homosexuality as a sin. I've supported LGBTQ+ and my family always saw that as a bad thing. I've been hearing them talking about them and how they think is so wrong and for a really long time I stood there in silence because I was christian and I thought I was suppossed to think the same. But I never did. In middle school, my friend came out as bi to me and I was so proud of her to trusting me enough to tell me that even though she knew I was christian. When I came home I told my mom that and she said "poor girl, she's so lost" and I was so angry. All these years all I've ever tried to do is helping them to be more open-minded and to judge a little bit less. I can't tell you I completely accomplished it. But at least they know what I stand for and they respect it. And now that I'm in high school I met two friends whom are gay and I try to let them know that not all christians are judgemental and that there are people who supports them.

As an Atheist (first of all I love all of your videos so much), I agree with all of these points so much. It's so incredibly important to think deeply about how we want to express ourselves in all departments, compartmentalizing leads to poor decisions and a lot of hurt. I agree that a lot of Christian teachings forces people to compartmentalize their sexuality away from their spirituality until the second they are married in a heterosexual relationship. Sexuality is beautiful and can and should be expressed in a deeply loving and spiritual way.

Wow just seen this second part, I'm a gay Christian I didn't come out until 2013 when I was 41 because I couldn't reconcile being gay and Christian I voluntarily had conversion therapy I was desperate to change who I am. Even though I'm out and am part of a Christian lgbt organisation here in the UK who participate in Pride, I do still struggle with several issues including sex this video has so helped me she really knows her stuff and appears so loving, this is one video I will def save if I need help with my doubts. It's one thing to know what God is telling you about who you love, but it's another thing with someone else agreeing. The church is very oppressive at times to this topic, and although I know God is very much telling me the right thing, and I feel it in my gut that that voice in my head is the Holy Spirit, I am still a doubtful and flawed person. No matter how many times I hear God telling me "I love you, and I made you exactly how I wanted you to be," the voice of humanity still strikes like a cobra. It's so... refreshing, I guess you would put it, to hear that one voice in the mocking and hurting crowd saying "they're wrong."

For everyone in the comments stating that what Brenda is saying is unbiblical: I suggest you read a book by Karen Armstrong titled, "The Case for God." Realistically people, the Bible as we have it today was not intended to be taken as a literal account in all instances. You are to seek God in "spirit," and in "truth" you worship Him. There are only two spirits available to us: good, and evil. What we embody is up to us. That is the free will granted to us by God.
The main arguments made in the book include the fact that the Israelites worshipped, shock horror, multiple gods, before they decided that Yahweh would become "The God of Israel," i.e. "The Most High". There are clearly discrepancies in the presentation of "The Most High" god in the Bible. Let's not kid ourselves. We know that it is wrong to kill another human being, yet "god" killed mothers and their unborn children because of the sins of one or two men. "God" "tempted" Saul with an evil spirit, and let "Satan" torture Job, who was declared to be a righteous man.
Clearly, we're missing something. My personal understanding from searching for God for a long time and now being in a relationship with Him through His incarnate Word, Jesus Christ, is that we are called to have faith in the Truth that was revealed to us in God's fleshly revelation of Himself in Jesus Christ. He states that the adversary comes to "steal, kill and destroy." That adversary is what we name as "Satan". In reality, it is the "spirit of evil" that causes us to turn away from God. That's it. Any decision that we make that goes against God's true nature, which is love, mercy, forgiveness, kindness, patience, and taking a proactive role to make other people's lives better, is not of God. That includes teachings such as eternal hell for people that reject God. Jesus is the saviour of "all men" and will draw all men to Him through His finished work on the cross. That is the gospel.
We are so arrogant to believe that we have to be perfect Christians in order to be loved by God. It doesn't work like that. God's love is given freely, infinitely and purely to everyone, but we do not come to know Him until we humble ourselves at Jesus's feet and accept that in our human state, we just don't have the capacity to allow ourselves to be fully loved and to give that love unconditionally to others. We don't believe that sort of love exists. The love that pardons all our mistakes, overlooks our faults, and accepts us where we are right now while guiding us towards a better tomorrow in our walk with God. That is why we are on earth, and what we are called to learn. It's incredibly humbling when you realise that we just don't know it all, but we all strive and yearn for total acceptance.
I can only imagine how hard it is for people to be repeatedly told by Christians and churches that they are unworthy of being loved by God. That is not true at all. As a caveat, however, I will say this from my own experience and relationship with God. Some behaviours are not conducive to your relationship with God. That is between you and God. He gives to everyone what they need in their lives right now to draw you to Him. Seek Jesus and you will be given answers; He listens to all who call upon Him.

A question is not, "Would God strip you as a gay person of the chance of intimacy and love?", rather it is, "What is love?" God is Grey, you're looking very much to the worldly definition of love & sometimes we have to set aside our own desires to follow Jesus'. He told us to pick up our cross - if we are trying to make the Christian life easy, and striving for acceptance from other men, we are not achieving anything. Like you, I've always struggled to fit the 'mould' as a Christian girl, so I definitely empathise with you a lot; but your views are not biblical a lot of the time. I do see how you believe Christ is your Saviour though, and that alone brings you to heaven so in no way am I doubting your Salvation. It's clear you love Jesus & God, but as a sister in Christ I can't sit here watching your videos and commend you for trying to hold the world in one hand and Jesus in the other. The gospel is that we have ALL SINNED and are by our very nature i.e. by the desires and things that appear and feel natural to us, deserving of wrath. Desires to steal, to lust after another person, to murder, to lie, desires for the same sex, desires to hate and e.t.c are all sinful desires. Many of which by nature we have no control over but are still sinful in His eyes.
The good News is God sent His Son into the world, to take on and pay for the sin of the world, so that once we recive Him and turn from ALL OUR SIN. We will not perish but have everlasting life. His spirit will come and live in us and give us power to overcome sin and a brand new heart. While we are in an intimate, day to day, relationship with Him and His word.
Negative reactions to the practicing of homosexuality is not homophobia, it is love for them. Jesus has a negative reaction to it, because it is a sin. And the wages of sin is death and death eternal. Wont you have a negative reaction to something that could hurt someone regardless of how much the person loves and is attached to the thing.
When you encourage someone to pursue it you are encouraging them to reject the gift of Jesus Christ which is salvation and chase after their own sin and pleasures which will lead them to destruction. You think you are helping them but you are hurting them. Jesus has his hands wide open waiting to recieve us all if we Just turn from all our sins and pleasures, deny ourself and run to Him to heal our brokenness. You are encouraging them to embrace and cling to an aspect of something that appears and feels natural to them when JESUS CHRIST said if anyone wants to follow me they MUST deny themselves, pick up their cross and follow me. We must walk away from pursuing ourselves and other people and walk into pleasing Jesus alone. Please think about this.

I want to cry. I'm not Christian and really never would have called myself one, despite my dad's family being Christians. But one of my best friends was Irish Catholic. This was never an issue, until I was sixteen and I realized I'm a lesbian. I wanted to tell him, but I was really scared I would lose him if I did. Then late one night he texts me, asking if I'm up and can he call me. I say yes and yes and he's in tears. He tells me he's gay and he's terrified of going to Hell. I tell him he's not, he's not sure, so the following exchange happens
Me: Am I going to Hell?
Him: No, of course not. God doesn't care if you're Jewish, just that you're a good person.
Me: I've been meaning to tell you. I'm a lesbian. Am I going to Hell?
Him: ... no, you're not going to Hell.
Me: Then neither are you.
That seemed to help him calm down and we talked a little more about how we figured out we were gay and laughed a little and obviously that didn't cure his fears entirely but it gave him hope. I wish this video existed back then, because I think it would have helped him a lot. I mean, despite the fact that I was there for him, I could really only help him accept that he was gay, I couldn't help him reconcile that with his faith because I didn't share it.

Still straight people that know nothing on the subject are adamant stating "it is a choice". How arrogant. People are being bullied, shunned, imprisoned and executed for being gay. Honestly the church (evangelical Presbyterian) I grew up going to made **heterosexuality** seem like a sin. If you thought about sex before marriage or had urges Jesus would burn down an orphanage.

I left the Church for many reasons, but homophobia was one of the biggest reasons. I am openly gay and look it, and I feel genuinely afraid of going into religious spaces a lot of the time. God is not grey. He rejects all sin. He loves everyone, but holds all of us accountable for our decisions. If we choose sin over God we will not find ourselves in a good place. Homosexuality is a sin. Just like killing, steeling, unmarried sex, adultery, etc…

WOW!! WOW!! Finally I found a channel that makes sense about bible and faith is about! I have been thinking this way since I was a teenager and I didn't feel like my faith (grown catholic) had conflicts with me being gay. Since all is about LOVE! I'm very glad there is someone who can talk, explain and help people to understand the real logic about God and sexuality, all this in a very clear and blunt way!

Just wanted to add that the way most Christians understand homosexuality as a sin was by St. John Chrysostom. His infamous Homily on Homosexuality condemned all forms of same-sex relations and even taught homosexuality as worse a sin than murder. Basically, he was very homophobic and his teachings would make Christianity hostile to homosexuals for years to come.
As a pansexual who's currently going through the same thing with my church community after I came out, this video helped me out immensely and with this newfound information I feel as though I can set my true healing from the spiritual abuse in motion. Now I know what Mr. Atheist means when he says "grey is bae"!!!

So I was in that kind of mood where I wanted to feel mad and looked up Christian takes on homosexuality. I was not expecting this channel. I am kind of a “technical Christian”. I go to church but am not really able to believe in God. While this channel hasn’t helped me be able to reconcile the existence of a God, it has greatly helped me stop being disillusioned from the church. You act like how I think a true Christian should: preaching love and acceptance, and encouraging people to act as Jesus truly would.
I used to be a lesbian. I tried balancing God and being gay at the same time and it led me away from God every. single. time. If God warns against something, it's for a reason. And having sex outside of God's order, may it be heterosexual or homosexual affects your emotional wellbeing, you get tied to a person intimately and when they leave(since they don't have a commitment with you protected by God) it rips you apart, it affects your soul. God didn't want this or intended that for us, that's why He warns about it, because sin hurts the sinner. The reason Jesus came was to save us from the natural inclination to sin that we inhereted from Adam and Eve, lest we destroy ourselves and our souls.
