From an honest point of view, the land cruiser is mainly for those who take the road more often since it has evolved into being a mid sized luxury SUV instead of a fully capable off-road vehicle, it has captured the eyes of many upper class Asian clients and Asian politics. It is more of a road car but still a great off roader. The Prado on the other hand is more safer I would say off road, due to the front and back bumpers being closer to the front and back axels, including a higher structure off the ground. This leaves them better ground clearance than land cruiser. It is less expensive but still delivers the better performance when off-road in somewhere like a jungle. The Prado is cheaper since it has around the same capabilities but used by more simple tech. While The Prado uses its bodywork as its strength and ability, the land cruiser uses its power to assure it gets over. It’s like turbocharging a 4 cylinder to have the power of a 6 or even an 8. Personally, if I were to be going off-road into the jungle I would take the Prado, but if I were to have a road trip or go dune bashing in Dubai, I would take the Land cruiser.

Buy the Prado. It’s cheaper to run, and it’s more nimble than the bigger, heavier, clumsier 200. But if you can afford the big boy, go for it. Just know that fuel consumption is very high.
Both are good but it would have been better if they built the prado on the 70 series and the lc200 should have been available with even a solid front differential known as 205 just like the 105 ,then it would have been just like the 80series according to it's style!

i have been driving 200 series for 6 years, compare with Prado, It's big, heavy and not fuel efficient but one thing i like 200 series in vast steppe off road straight run Prado no match for land cruiser, especially for 500km long offroad run, first 20km Prado will eat my dust and next 50km Prado will lose LC200! when you bash through roads with potholes and big bumps LC200 series handles it like made for it! because it's lower arms, CVD, Axle, axle shaft is huge like a Truck! within 6 years i change the oil, shocks, filters and brake bads then ready for work! If you wanna taste LC200, toyota gives you a little tester a Prado!
