Man that tactical aesthetic in the creed is beautiful! I know this is an old video but I've been buying some of the older Mathews bows recently and the creed is next on the list. Recently found a Switchback XT in near mint condition in 2024! The creed is a special bow since it's not only the first split limb Mathews but also the last solo cam.
I work in a Mathews shop, awesome review. You nailed all the great upgrades and pros to going with a new rig, and it gets really old watching 'bow reviews' that just try to sell accessories. Thanks for sticking to the bow.
Thanks John good to see you at MDF banquet I have both of these bows so I appreciate you breaking down the difference it is interesting for sure Tony.s dad at ACC years ago when I got new string looked me in the eye and said dont get rid of this bow (switchback XT) he said it was one of if not the best bow Matthews made! He visits the factory and sees how they are made telling me how they make them and how many they sell-Im sticking with Matthews
XT and the Z7 models = classics. The XT and Z7 models are smooth, easy to work on, have the energy, and are just single cam legends. This would be like giving up a 1969 SS Camaro in the car world. $1000+ for 15fps? Nope! That $1000 is spent toward more hunting and fishing trips instead.
$$$ doesnt kill animals .... older bows that have been maintained and practiced with...ALOT.. is what makes hunters succussful. If you have lost confidence in your old bow, then maybe it's time to upgrade.
Exactly, its all about selling more Bows, I shoot the Xt and im sticking with it because i dont see any major advantages that would change the way I Bow Hunt!
for the people who leave future comments 318fps and 328fps are IBO speeds (350 grain arrow 70lb draw weight and 30 inch draw length). the average hunter will use a arrow over 350 grains (average about 360-430 gr.) so no matter how hard you try with peep and string silencers and the extra arrow weight you will not get IBO speeds. FYI he was saying if you have the same set up (arrow weight draw length) and if you shoot 70lbs with the switchback and 63lbs with the creed you will get similar speeds
I still shoot the XT as well and in my opinion the bow is just as good or better than some of the new ones. Remember it is all marketing and the companies need to make sales so they are going to reasons why you should switch. If it ain't broke dont fix it LOL
basically a personal preference I would recommend the trophy ridge react. you sight in 20 yard pin with micro adjust and fine tune the 30 yard pin with the react system (just a turn of the knob) and your 40,50 and 60 yard pin will be automatically sighted in with this system if you sight in your 20 and 30 yard pin exactly where it should be they will be dead on. for $150 I don't think you can beat it
Nothing wrong with my XT. Got ti new in 2006. It's fast, accurate and lethal. Sure the Creed is awesome and has improvements but that is a $1000 switch-a-roo. If I was rich there is no doubt I would go get a Creed. The XT weighs 4.2 pounds which in my mind is pretty light. And sure how I could be more accurate.
have you shot a Vertix or VXR? Maybe when i made this video 6 years ago i could understand your argument but the difference is night and day now with the new bows. Don't get me wrong i loved my switchback still have it but its just for nostalgia
@@johnstallone1916 , Oh, I know technology can't help but advance and I was speaking against what you were reviewing at the time, but my Switchback harvests elk here in Durango just fine. :)
Stilll shooting an MQ1 and still can't find a good enough reason to buy a newer $1000 bow. I have not missed an game because it's too slow or too loud. I too do a lot of spot and shot hunting but never has the # of my bow caused me to not hold a bow for a shot. I think that practice and conditioning are far more important than # or the bow or speed. I went through my phase of needing a speed bow and even went as far upgrading cams on the MQ1 with a SL-3-CR cam and my bow is shooting over 321frp at 73# draw weight but for hunting, it's turned down to mid 60's. Save your money and pracitce and get conditioned for the hunt.
Concern about weight is not a good reason too buy a lighter bow the lightest rifle weighs more so get in shape before the season and for god sake Mann up
Jake. Sound like a great Mathews salesmen if you ask me. He left out a few things, mostly what he didn’t say. Weight of the bow is not a big deal. Weather you spot and stalk or sit in a tree stand. A $1000 is not going to get what your looking for. Bows are at a point that they are just new paint and new colored string. Sorry ask Jake. I am right where you are.
Please tell me how to get 318fps out of the creed @ 63lbs. I know for a fact that it will not happen, less you are shooting an unloaded string and an arrow under 350gr.
the creeds IBO is 328fps and the switchbacks IBO is 318fps so that's what he's was talking about not real world speeds but IBO speed if you compare them with the same arrow the switchback at 70lbs and the creed at 63lbs they will shoot the same speed that's what he was saying
Awesome review, I plan on getting a Creed and it will be an upgrade from my 2007 switchback. I can't to get back to the state and get a Creed in my hand.
Still shooting my Switchback in 2019!!
Me too. I have owned 2 switchbacks xts and I haven’t shot a newer Mathews bow that would makes think it’s better.
me too...06 Switchback.
Yes sir I'm still shooting switch back 2006 model
Creed xs over here!

i sold it to a friend he still has it

still haven't had a switchback but have a legacy that's never leaving my possession
I wish I still had my Legacy. Damn thing was a tack driver and stupid quiet.
@@chrismartin500 lol I had a buddy fall on hard times & actually traded my legacy to em so he could keep on hunting

it was good seeing you as well
Lol, the keep the XT. The 20% weight difference and few fps arent going to make any difference to the animals. XT is one of the best bows ever made.
My Xt is about to come in🙂

Still shooting the XT and in my opiniion is still better than even the Halon!! That's right.. I will do a shootoff with anyone..

SoloCamXT Outdoors I agree, I'll shoot my XT against any other Matthews out there. Will not give it up.
SoloCamXT Outdoors if you spend more on a new bow and all the new accessories your TROPHY ROOM WILL BE THAT MUCH SHORTER IN $$$...

light bow is less stable isn't it?

LOL, as an 06 Switchback owner, I'll claim my bias now...but I came away from this video thinking. " OK...so, no reasons then" :)

I'm hoping to get a creed in April or May
Is 10 fps worth another 500$? If you get 500$ for what you got.
what kind of sight is that ?
@JosephVines you won't get that much speed out of a switchback at those specs and it also depends on what you have on your string and your draw length
I dunno boys, doesn't seem like enough of a justification to me.

Hello. Can someone help me with what woukd be the best sight for my creed... thank you
Marcelo Malla I think a true glo site would be good... I have it on my switchback and took it to the bow shop... they loved it
Nice video... All that speed stuff is bullshit though, IBO isn't going to be your actual speed I hate when companies pull that!

Yet Mathews bows keep getting heavier every year😂
The creed is way to long for my Hunting, and all my shots are no further than 35 to 40 yrds so speed dosent matter to me as much as penitration
Long? My Creed is only 28 ata
