- Three great new bows on the market for 2013 shot head to head to see who is the fastest and who is closest to IBO. I know it's not scientific, but it's as good as we could do, and it was fun. I was very impressed with all three of these bows.
All bows were set to 70 lbs. The two from Mathews had to be turned down about 4 lbs and the Hoyt had to be turned down a pound or two.
Draw length was 28" (too short for me, but it's what we had). Arrow was a 395 grain Victory V1.
Average speeds in my tests (many more shots than are shown here) were:
Chill - 292
Creed - 285
Spyder - 290
I'll take the Sypder 30 as a first choice of the three, all great bows, but the Sypder is a hair smoother and just feels right in the hand. Fantastic balance and characteristics across the board. THeir best bow to date IMO.
Mission Riot, best bow for adjusting and by far the best warranty out there
Wow, for these bows price tag, you would think they would perform better. I just bought a Bowtech Assassin 27 inch draw, 365 grn. Arrow at 70 lbs. and it thumps them out at 298. And the best part is its smooth with a shallow draw force curve. I love it!! I tried a Mathews DXT with all the same specs and it was 254 Fps., I was very disappointed with it.
I have the helim very smooth bow love the solid back wall. Only thing with this bow is there is no creep what so every. Which makes the solid back wall come in handy.
the chill is a smooth bow like my z7 and my old switch back i like it thts what im getting sold my z7 and switch back to stay updated on what i like in bows thinking on getting another hoyt when they come out with one as smooh as the alfamax 35
Listen, I say this as a fellow archer. If you keep those last three fingers extended on your left hand and have a broadhead on, you risk a very nasty problem. Try to gently close the fingers onto the grip. It won't change much except make you safer. Be safe.
hey im looking at either the creed or chill. im 15 pulling 50lbs draw length is about 26.5 inch which bow would be better for me out of those two i guese im looking for something adjustable
If you only had a choice between the Spyder and the Chill what would you buy? And I was wondering if you could compare the price tag. One more question if you don't mind, I have read a review on the Spyder saying there is a "hum" that happens after you shoot. Did you find this on the one you shot?
Thx
I currently have the spyder 30 and it shoots great. 62 lbs getting 290 with 378 grain arrow. very smooth draw. Also shot the creed but not nearly as smooth of a draw.
I have the z7 extreme and love it, but always looking for something better... would you upgrade to the Creed? from the z7 extreme?
370 arrow 70 lb 29 draw 348 Dream Season, and it is quite. No valley or hump so it is ready to fly once it is drawn back.
I love my Mathews monster mcperson to this day i just Robin Hooded one of arrows yesterday at 30 yards
hey im getting a new bow and I was wondering which one is better between the helim and the creed?
I see that you have shot the helim too which do you prefer the creed or helim
My favorite is the chill, followed by the helim, then the creed.
Matthews speed was exactly the same with both shots, which means to me that my shots will be consistent. 285 feet per second is very fast. Now, I want it to be quiet!
You'd have to shoot it. There's not a whole lot of difference between those two bows, but it's always fun to have a new one. If it was me I'd keep the Z7X. Now the chill...
I'm getting 285 with my chill at 28" 65#, I'm shooting carbon express maxima at 385 grains. I have no doubt the bow would shoot atleast 300fps at 70#
im a hoyt guy but the chill to me is a great bow if i were to buy a Mathews right now that's the bow i would get, but for the record the Mathews drenilin was the best bow they have put out
i want to put my 2cents in this for the complaints every bow they makes is to fit different people likes some people like speed, lightness, black, camo etc just like the shoes and clothing its what u like to make u a better sportsman a real true hunter i shoot all different types of bows before i love to shoot but i find the bow tht fits me
lol I just ordered a chill r from that same shop. do you work there?
GTR you'd be better with the bear empire or motive 7 from bear. I have shot all four and I like the bears more. They are a like cheaper and very adjustable friendly. But shoot all the bows and let them pick you.
@matthew michael I'd get the helium. But thts wat im gettin for christmas. Reason I say helium is because its not split limb and its lighter and good feel just less problems to deal with I think
What about the BEAR Motive 6 with it's IBO rating of 350?
Chill kinetic energy at 74.29.
IBO and Real world are never the same.. My humble Bear Encounter IBOs at 310. But with my arrow at 456.3.. I get 249.23 fps. I aint mad though. I moved up from a Bear Black Hunter moving the same arrow at 206.1.. Both get me pass troughs at 30
Have you tested Motive 7 yet?
My bowtech Experance is set at 70 pounds and 29" 387 grans carbon express 326 FPS go bowtech.
i agree with you...that is why i own a pse Omen/DNA and a Monster MR5 ;) with all that testosterone you need speed n power as well.....
it wasnt bieber it was rihanna
70 lbs, 390?
Spyder kinetic at 74.29.
@GTRjosh13 if I were u i'd get a bowtech assasin cus im 15 with a 26in draw shottin 70 pounds with bowtech shootin 290. But im switchin to helium and beleive me the bionary cams on the bowtech are a bitch to pull back good bow tho
Well speed isn't everything. Id give up a few fps any day for a better quality bow with more accuracy. Mathews will never disappoint.
Creed 71.26 pounds of kinetic energy
Ill keep my z7 xtreme at over 300fps 29" draw 67lbs.
DON'T DO IT. I regret getting rid of my Z7 Xtreme.
Dang my pse revenge im shooting 63# 26 1/2" cx 355gr @288fps
Not
all this vid references is the speed, then says you shouldnt choose a bow based on that alone. we all know that. so perhaps offer some other insight on a bow in a review.
if you play some Linkin Park or Metallica then u'll be getting a few extra FPS
Hoyt Defiant Turbo is better than these bows !
