"A PSN account is required to use this headset."
Seppuku*
No! Bad derg!
Microsoft does this, epic does it Ubisoft, E FUCKING A !!! Literally haven’t played a ea game in half a decade because of having to use a ea account in America.
That's not a issue
At least its not PlayStation plus subscription requirement
Eye tracking is SO POWERFUL and I can't wait till it becomes more commonplace in consumer headsets
That said as a glasses wearer... Good Lord it's gonna take a lot of time and work to make eye tracking work
I use prescription inserts for my Quest Pro, it doesn't affect eye tracking at all.
I have -12 sph glasses and Vive Pro Eye tracks my eyes fine. It’s a little off near the edges, but not enough to impact social VR.
Speaking from experience as a glasses user with a PSVR2 it works fine and I’ve had no issues
Although you will have to be careful about scratching the lenses
I smell Accel World in real life!!!!
i just hope that in the future vr headsets and the like will be cheaper, imagine playing vrchat with the body suit of ready player one or even entering the world like in SAO. It is so interesting to see just how far and how little vr is going in the past 7 years. i mean you would think it would go a bit faster but it's still a thing to be grateful for lol.
ell it makes plenty sense. Neural implants are only reatching a phase Were were testing on people. And Reading brainwaves as is Is kind of a limited tool. atleast if your thinking in terms Of sao style vr. I dont see any non intrusive methods Of Sao style vr ever being a thing not without some brain surgery.
Vr is still a niche despite its success... But even sitll Im suprised it hasnt blown up more. Connecting all the Technologies currently availible for theater eske explerience for vr gaming.
I mean... Its understandable why its not in general use yet.... Consumer grade 360 tradmills are still in progress. there are cheap at home solutions... but nothing particularly... good that your average consumer can just purchase and buy at non bank breaking costs that arnt.... Weird.. like shuffling in place on a small slippery surface.
Expsnive ahh hundred dollar gloves. Expensive haptic vests.
ITs... Like racing sims..... A lot of expensive components investment For a slelect amount of games hyperfocused to make that experience better....
Its a hobbyist level right now... Your average person can probably get a headset like the quyest 3 clear some space and play like that... maybe a battery pack and rubber hand grips but beyond that Its a lot of investment. FOr all these other features Honrestly I could only see it working for pcvr withch requires you to already have a decent gaming computer witch gate keeps your average joe. from the get go. And keeps spiraling from there. It dont make sense to develop and get all these niche things developed by different people to work together yet.
Sao stile would be so cool 😩
@@leggotheeggodemon1323honestly I agree vr really is a hobbyist faze I mean look at all those videos of people trying out all these vr body suits and accessories
woah this is really neat, thanks for keeping us so updated!
I expect the adapter to not expose the relevant data at all; however, there's already a driver project working on providing support for the headset directly with no adapter required, and once that gets off the ground it could probably start adding those features pretty quickly.
Great video, Tahvo! As soon as this video popped up I had to click on it immediately! I have to agree, like yourself, I liiIIiive for that face tracking in VRchat. It fulfills my geeky dream of becoming a cartoon character. And seeing your eyes and mouth move, like in the Quest 2, is so important to making that little dream a little closer. Thanks again for making this video :)
The adapter is just a VirtualLink... splitter? combiner? you can plug PSVR2 into one of the few GPUs that has the USB-C on it and it will register. I believe there is a similar VirtualLink adapter for some of the Varjo headsets that already exists, but it's wildly expensive.
So whatever the PSVR2 can send, should be visible on the other end whether directly connected or via the adapter. I think eye tracking may be viable unless they lock it out at a firmware level.
I knew about the eye tracking, but it has haptics too? Now I really hope the community's effort succeeds, or at least pushes other, new headsets to include this feature.
I *miiight* attempt DIY eye tracking in the future, but even as an electronics tinkerer, the risk you mention (and the fact I'm using a 7 year old headset) leaves me hesitant.
Love the Videos Tahvo
Been around for some time now and you helped me out alot with VR
Meeting you at Furality was a "Made my Day" Experience
Keep up the work
I hope we will have you around for some long time
I always love your videos :D
This is fascinating and awesome
Seeing these innovations in VR is amazing. It's been awesome to see the progress overr all these years. It's a shame that getting into the really cool stuff is so expensive though. Hopefully we can see a reduction in cost but what we have already is awesome. I can see a future like Ready player one where you can be totally immersed in VR. I can't wait to be able to slip a suit on and be able to feel my surroundings in VR.
Meta really fumbled with not having eye tracking for the Q3
Gosh, another great and informative video! Such a good boy ^^
Appreciate you! Eye tracking would be big if they add it. Until then I'm still watching Inseye and crossing fingers it'll be faster than Slime has been
This I great new been looking to use mine even more ^^
well I did buy the PSVR2 for PSVR2 games but if it has eye tracking then I'll definately use on PC as well, would love eye tracking on Quest 2 or 3, still have to buy the 3 at some point
I'm really sad they scrapped eye tracking in quest 3. But I guess that's a tactic to make you buy their most expensive model the quest pro.
@@_HanaPanda the quest pro is as useless and as expensive as the apple vision
@@KatOwO2235 and that is why I went with the quest 3 😂
Eye tracking so folk can see what butt I am... what butterfly I am looking at.
🤣
Yippee! New video!
Nice! Scared about PSN account login- The anti-bot stuff is so hard I struggle to login.
Are you a robot?
Can you make a video talking about different types of diy eye tracking and what they are capable to do now?
I literally talked about PSVR 2 headpats with a friend about a month ago lmao
I would like to see a company make add on eye and face tracking for quest products as they have jumped in popularity, it would be a decent market to jump into, especially for the social aspect people want with a low price tag.
I myself have both a Varjo Aero + Vive FT and a Quest pro. Face tracking is a huge part of my social experience in VR
hopefully when the adapter drops it'll go on sale. i'm likely picking this up unless valve manages to drop something before august or meta manages to release a pcvr headset or that 'quest 3s'. has to either be wired with no battery or have insanely good battery life otherwise im not using it.
I’m just glad they’re doing pcvr at all cause now when I get my pc built I’ll have a perfectly capable headset to use
y'know, I'm glad that ETVR got mentioned
it's definitely not for everyone, and there's absolutely risks associated with it, but I just like seeing it mentioned :3
there's also a system called babble being developed by the same dev team that's trying to make an open source face tracker, although it's not nearly as complete as their eye tracking is yet
Headpats please 😊. I May of read that bumper wrong 😅
fluffy boi
Sony released a firmware update that unlocked the PSVR2 shortly after the original announcement that PCVR support was on the way. People speculated that this was done to facilitate an upcoming adapter. However, that doesn't make sense. Since Sony is providing a custom adapter for the purpose, that adapter could have maintained the proprietary protections just like the PS5 does. No, I think Sony unlocked the firmware in order to make features like eye tracking available to opensource since it wasn't going to be possible for them to support officially given the state of PCVR.
This also explains why Sony released this firmware update way back then rather than waiting until the adapter was about to be released. I'll bet you eyetrackvr will already support PSVR2 before the adapter even ships.
I think the missing features will be supported by the PSVR2 to PC project that was in development prior to Sony's announcement.
Definatly modders will add if not Sony themselves eventually
tbh, asa a brke person as myself, I'm just going to wait till prices of everything cools down a bit, or get a used heaset that has eye tracking already...
I hope in the future VR becomes alot more acessible and immersive like the Eye Tracking. Why more acessible you must think? Well, country's outside of Europe and country's who use USD in general, yeah a VR for $300 bucks is not expensive in USD or EUR but for country's who they main money is not USD or EUR? That's another history, luckly Quest 2 on these county's are becoming way cheaper (for example where I live it was before $4.000 now it's $1.800) Giving a chance to the whole world experience it! But player one style? It's already gonna take alot of time, worldwild? Alot more.
Man. I'd really love if Vive or Valve came out with some competitively priced VR options.
It's frustrating as all hell that the headsets owned by the worst companies are currently the best options for reasonable prices.
I'd rather give my money to Playstation than to Facebook or TikTok. But it's not exactly a good option.
It's Insanely frustrating that they're locking off features of the headset from PC. Hopefully the output data is still accesible. But if they're locking it as a means to try and coerce people into getting a playstation to get the full functionality of the thing, I doubt they'll willingly let that data through.
So much potential, and they cut the features that made them stand out from the rest of the headsets.
Lets hope there's an update or the community can make a work around without getting sued.
"head haptic feedback" awesome I can become JFK,
I'm getting one for the oled, anything else is a bonus.
Pico 4 pro has eye tracking, it works fine outside of china on top of not needing standalone.
you can do it, put your back into it.
I can't wait to get the adapter personally for the fact that it's gonna probably kill the Meta Quest 2 using virtual desktop again is gonna be badass especially using virtual desktop it's gonna be very similar to Oculus Rift S make sure you guys take very good care of your PlayStation VR2 if you want to have a cabled VR headset and not be bound by Meta policy!
i need help, i dont have access to a 5g router therefore i have tought on buying 5g hotspot on my phone, but will it be able to run fbt if i share it to my pc? on current 2.4 router its not good and i dont wanna reger getting all this stuff just to not use it.🙁
The PSVR2 is wired only to a PC (when the adapter comes out) or PS5. You may be able to combine it with something like SlimeVR or HaritoraX, but it's yet to be confirmed.
SWEET
It would be amazing if VRChat worked on the PS5 too, that'd be one step closer to being able to ditch my Windows PC
I recently picked up a refurbished Quest Pro for $700 including tax. Totally worth it.
13 minutes, HELLO!
hope meta releases some attachment for face/eye tracking
Pico 4 enterprise is available world wide. And the Chinese pico 4 pro doesn't matter because pcvr it doesn't matter and works fine outside of China so it's $400 and cheap
Im literally going to use in VR chat☺️
I'll sit and wait till eye tracking gets supported (be it 3rd party or official) or something like a quest pro sequel comes out.
Wow
Idky they didn't have native support for PC from the start
This sounds cool. But you'll need a PSN account to be able to use it though.
I just built it for my q3. Lol
I wish it was just 500 here -_-
Unfortunately Sony decided they hate money, so the features anyone actually cares about won't work even with the adapter. You give me a 600$ headset with the fov, color depth, and eye tracking and I'll buy one tomorrow. But nope, it's just a slightly better Quest 3.
hay, if its a "quest 3" but without needing a spying-meta OR PSN account? i mean, that sounds like a deal to me!
i don't care about hdr or eye tracking. hdr has kind of always been really bad, at least on desktop. it also comes with the bonus of not having to deal with meta or bytedance and hopefully not psn. but i would rather sony have my information (despite the leaks) than either of those companies. oled is a huge plus given how nice my quest 1 is. i'm pretty sure i'll end up getting a psvr2 over everything else, because pcvr headsets have fallen off so hard.
I'm surprised Microsoft isn't working to undercut Sony on this.
I think they are more focused on enterprise/AR right now. Also, there's Xbox Cloud Gaming on Quest.
Never underestimate the power of MODs!!! 🙌
idk why but i feel like the original psvr was a experiment with playstation in vr because there is so many qualities they messed up on which i feel was easy to notice but thats just my opinion
I knew getting PSVR2 wasn’t for nothing, cant wait for it to come to pc
Okay, but regardless of whether or not the PSVR 2 has haptic feedback or eye tracking on pc, it's still one of the only affordable modern OLED headsets on the market, and I imagine that alone will be enough for some people to buy the headset for dedicated PCVR use.
i'm probably the person that will buy it for pcvr use. i'm still using the ancient quest 1 which has oled. i'm just not happy with the resolution anymore and i find myself getting headaches and a lot of face markings because of the weight and heat emitted. plus, no new games, no updates, no replacements, no game parties with friends. it sucks on quest 1 now, so it's just my pcvr headset.
When the PSVR2 was announced I was so excited, I thought "Wow this will be AMAZING for PC gaming and VRChat! Native eyetracking, focal rendering, potential addons for facetracking too, wow!" Then I IMMEDIATELY lost ALL interest as soon as I learned it was PS5 exclusive, first thought was "way to immediately kill your peripheral Sony, It'll be even more niche than VRChat as a whole, what a dumb decision to completely alienate yourself from the PC market.." I swear these companies DON'T want our money sometimes, it's wild.
Thank you to remembering that Pico 4 Pro exists, usually creators don't talk about it. I get it that most of those creators are focoused in the USA market, but still.. That 'non-talking' about it is kinda killing the headset..
He didn't even realize the pico 4 enterprise was a thing world wide with no problem with pcvr . Even the pico 4 pro doesn't even matter if it's Chinese if you wanna just use it on PC. Especially cuz we now have pico connect which is amazing. My whole channel is based on pico headsets. I'm actually adding the psvr2 to my channel and will be doing content on this as well since we need people focusing on fixing issues . Instead of just reviewing and forgetting
40 seconds :3
If anyone can make it happen, it's furries!
Sony literally removing the only reasons to get the PSVR with that adapter 😭 if there's no way to use them I'll just stick with what I got. As simple as that!
"Sony's triple A titles"
Proceeds to immediately show Project Wingman, which is pretty much a 3 person project, and only the DLC was Sony backed.
Good to know! Speaking generally but I have seen a number of smaller projects under psvr2
Knowing Sony, uhhh no, they probably just want to sell the darn thing enough to coup some losses but not to the point they give all the features to "PC" to keep their Playstation more relevant~
Heard PSVR2 would *finally* be PC compatible, I was practically overjoyed ! Then Sony announced it would require a 60€ adapter on top of the 550 you already put into the headset and that it wouldn't even have the entire featureset, extremely disappointed.
Sony had a golgen goose that could have made them a landmark of the VR market but they killed it by platform locking it and doing so good a job of it that they can't enable all the features themselves afterwards, what a massive waste
Just brig vrc to ps5
why, would anyone play resonite? it's dead.
First pin me plsss
Sony has already confirmed that the eye tracking feature will not be available on PC
