Giving up on morals and ethics or selling yourself out doesn't mean that person wants it more than you, it just means they're fine with taking the easy route. I'd rather put my all in day after day and stay true to myself, even if it means I'm forever in the underground.
All of this is really interesting because on one hand you have artists that work for years and just put stuff out and collab with other artists, then on the other you have those artists who really do get lucky at the right place and time. I think as long as your putting your 100% effort then your time will come when it comes. I don’t think people should get caught up in it to the point that they suffer greatly cause at that point what are you really doing it for if it doesn’t bring you joy? Just my thoughts
I say don’t expect anything. If anything expect to fail miserably. “Well that’s counterintuitive and makes me not wanna start in the first place” it can, but then again. For me that lifts up so much pressure and expectation. Edit: Tho you’d still want goals and some expectations. Just don’t expect to make it
Just having fun and wanting joy isn’t enough. It sounds great and amazing but that’s not true to what we all want and we all know that. Artists tend to lie to themselves about money and materials not mattering when it’s mostly the driving factor behind all we do and that’s perfectly fine. It should be that way.
Quick side note to y’all that “making it” doesn’t have to be getting rich or famous. Success isn’t a hard definition and you should aspire for things that you truly want. But if you want to be rich and famous it’s gonna take a lot of effort, time, and luck.
I appreciate this message, but yeah, after this I think I'm good with this motivational stuff, the dreams, the potential and so on. I think that me, berating myself day after day because I'm not "doing enough", even when I've directly improved myself one way or another is a dark path that I need to leave first, before investing myself into something of this nature. I get that dissatisfaction is beneficial and all, but I've been in this space enough to know that trying to get myself to move with negative energy ain't all that. I think that I should tackle my dreams - if I ever get any worth pursuing - I want to do it on a good foundation; a foundation of sound mental and physical health. It's hard to form an honest opinion with everyone trying to get people to do things or think things, but I think I stand firm on this. :) But hey, that's just me; wanna get rid of them weeds first before planting my flowers and plants and such. Cheers!

This is always the thing with people. They measure this success with how much wealth they own, and I don't feel obligated music by that.
