If You Want To Succeed... Start Hating
In today's world, hating has become one of the quickest ways to grab attention, money, and social capital. Whether it's Drake dissing the entire rap game & their Baby moms covertly, Kendrick Lamar stirring up drama before album drops, Joe Budden generating engagement on his podcast by tearing down artists, or even Eminem and Nicki Minaj taking shots at the younger generation to stay in the spotlight, negativity has become a top 5 marketing strategy. It's not just famous figures either-everyday creators use this method to relate to their audience or attract attention by critiquing or hating on others.
So, why is this happening? There’s a real correlation between unhappiness, pessimism, and this behavior. Many people are frustrated or feel left out of success, and projecting that anger onto others makes them feel a little better, even if only temporarily. For others, hating is trendy. It’s fun, it gets a reaction, and in the age of social media, it’s a surefire way to generate clicks, likes, and maybe even a paycheck. But despite how common it is, this shouldn't be how we navigate our world.
Unfortunately, it’s so ingrained in society now that it’s hard to imagine things changing anytime soon. The internet almost runs on hate at this point, with negative comments and viral feuds drawing more eyes than positive news. But it doesn’t have to stay this way forever. What do you think? Can we move past this cycle, or is hating here to stay?

Quantum tunneling is one of those wild concepts from physics that sounds almost like science fiction. It’s when particles, instead of bouncing off an impenetrable barrier, somehow pass right through it. Imagine slapping your hand against a wall over and over, hoping to phase through. In the real world, this seems impossible. But in quantum mechanics, if you keep at it long enough, there’s a tin...
The Era That Killed Lyricism
Переглядів 42 тис.Місяць тому
The "decline" of lyricism in hip-hop can be traced back to a pivotal moment: the day Jay-Z revealed that he no longer writes his raps but freestyles them instead. This shift in his creative process was groundbreaking for the culture, and it didn’t take long for Lil Wayne, another rap legend, to follow suit. With two of the greatest in the game making the move away from the pen and pad, it set o...
Lil Yachty Is The Problem...

Lil Yachty’s journey serves as a reminder that success in the music industry isn’t just about talent-it's about how you handle the inevitable conflicts that come with it. Things started to unravel for Yachty after aligning with Drake during a period when public opinion wasn’t on Drake’s side. From there, his relationships began to fracture, and the mistakes started stacking up. Take, for instan...

The line between appreciating hip-hop culture and being a culture vulture can be thin, and it’s an important distinction to make-especially when discussing artists like Ian, who uses popular hip-hop sounds and presents them to a primarily white audience. There's a big difference between genuine appreciation and extracting from the culture for personal gain without contributing back. Notable cul...

Gatekeeping your favorite artist-whether because you want them to stay consistent, keep them underground because you've made undergroundsound, hyperpopdaily, & Kidstakeover your entire personality, or because you've latched onto online jokes and don't really think for yourself, it doesn't matter. Its all stupid, there's a deep hypocrisy in not letting others enjoy the same music that brings you...
Your Favorite Musician Didn't Earn It...

Nepotism and favoritism run deep in the music industry, giving rise to "industry plants"-artists who may have connections, influence, and financial backing but often lack an authentic audience, legitimate backstories, and fully developed music. While some of these artists, like Lil Mabu, Saweetie, CJ, and Cordae, have talent, their rapid rise often stems more from the right connections than org...
The Problem With Idolizing Rappers
Переглядів 2,5 тис.2 місяці тому
Hip-hop has always been a counter-culture movement, rooted in rebellion and self-expression. Many artists in the genre come from backgrounds that aren't always polished or conventional, and their art reflects that raw, authentic experience. However, idolizing rappers and public figures can be dangerous. These individuals, like anyone else, are flawed and human, and they don't always represent t...

It’s not necessarily wrong to not write, punching in/out isn’t bad per se . but you should be writing & practicing your craft in general & it’ll translate into your music.

I think The Alchemist is a good example of loving rap/ hip hop culture and being a part of the scene for so long that he is now deeply imbedded into the culture. He his authentic and respected despite him looking white.

You don't have to grow up in the 90's to be a great rapper. It comes down to your intelligence going on that paper or threw the wire. A lot of people love to make music but don't have what it takes to be a good artist.

The rapper's nowadays suck they can't even freestyle a whole verse and have no breath control to make it through a verse let alone don't know how to say just enough words did they get in the studio and punching and everything and sometimes do a horrible job at it so you could tell it was obvious punch in cuz the words are overlapping and if they're not saying lyrics they're mumbling

If anything Lil Wayne contributed to the death of lyricism Jay-Z on the other hand is the exception because he was so professional he didn't have to write or Lil Wayne should have kept writing and I can't blame them for a young people being lazy and trying not to write and starting to punch in everything

Jay got the no writing thing from Biggie, and that clip of Tupac you using, when you're talking about writing, he is literally telling them to freestyle in the both. Interesting video though.

Jay is not to blame, writing in your head and memorizing your bars is NOT the same as that “punch in” bullshit. If they were trying to emulate Jay and Wayne then the quality would be higher. Rappers today aren’t writing because they’re lazy. It’s not the same thing.

Been saying this for long time. Jay and Wayne fvkd the game up with not writing. Everybody thought they could do it... and it seems like every other rapper refused to hear the part where Jay said he had the rap written in his head... it was an off-the-top freestyle.

I respect this video! As someone who has wrote and punched in plenty of music, My most known song in my city were the ones I wrote. More thought is put into something that you had to actually sit down and work & really make sure each bar go with the next instead of just rhyming with the next ya know. I dont even be listening to none of these new rappers.. Be listening to 90s music most the time fr 🤣

I always thought it was a bad idea to go into the booth without writing and rewriting lyrics before recording. Documenting the process of getting to the finished product is part of the fun. If anything it’s something people can look back on to show their thought process.

The problem is young urbans and the wannabe urbans have way too much audacity. Like, u see a super young person driving an 80k dollar car? That’s what I mean. What makes u think u should have that when no one or even yourself is rich?? Same thing. What makes u think u should then not write? The youngsters aren’t wise enough to realize not everyone is made for glory. They all want the glory. Dumb little kids want the damn glory too often. Get an education dummy.

I think Jay and Wayne didn't have a part in this AT ALL. Actually more Wayne than Jay though because Wayne got A LOT of misses and a lot of the newer trash rappers are supposedly influenced by Wayne. But I think the biggest reason why lyrics are dead is because anybody can record now.

I'd say 1997 in particular is when Hip Hop kinda lost *that rawness and grittiness* this is when people like Diddy and Mase went mainstream and made Hip Hop more flashy with lyrics mostly about money and wealth, and it kinda stayed stagnant like that for over 2 decades, but nowadays we have alot more diversity in styles.

Biggie and Jay-Z actually cared about what they said though. Them not writing doesn’t mean other people should just come in and start spitting absolute nonsense. It’s like fast rapping. It’s not for everybody to try to do, but people think it’s cool and do it anyway, and it’s just sloppy.

Back in the early 2010s and before there was a myth that people didn’t write. The having to freestyle was just gate keeping, same as the whole being from the streets and keeping it real concept. “You can’t freestyle of the top, so you can’t rap”, “you ain’t from the streets, you can’t rap” , “you ain’t keeping it real, you can’t rap” People would convince themselves of these things to feel special or part of a esoteric group but they were ALL frauds and liars with gimmicks and you wouldn’t get these kinds of weird requisites in other genres, just hip hop. Nas was probably the most humble.

I went from reaction to uploading my own music. It’s a process to teach yourself freestyle. I feel if you learn new words every day, realize only you can narrate your story, work on better ways of expressing how you feel, you should always have something to freestyle off of. You need to focus on what makes a good rapper. Focus on message, delivery, personal style. I feel some may have off the top rhyme skills but don’t have the full control over their creativity due to contracts. Another thing I’ve recently learned is you’ve gotta show, not tell.
