And the Dominant 7 lesson:
• Resolution and the Dom...
Rocking out to the class 'Era Vulgaris' song 'Turning on the Screw' by Josh Homme and the Queens of the Stone Age. A great lesson in altering dominant 7th chords and adding a diminished quality to a percussive playing style.
Lyrics:
You got the question? Please don't ask it
It puts the lotion in the basket
You say bigger's better, but bigger's bigger
White boy dressed up like a figure
Drawn inside a toilet on the wall
The world is round, my square don't fit at all
They say those who can't just instruct others
And act like victims or jilted lovers
You can't lose it if you never had it
Disappear, man, do some magic
Want a reason? How's about because
You ain't a has been if you never was
I sound like this
Scared to say what is your passion
So slag it all, bitter's in fashion
Fear of failure's all you've started
The jury is in, verdict: retarded
I'm so tired, and I'm wired too
I'm a mess; I guess I'm turning on the screw

This song is so damn sweet. It's pretty simple but it's really made by the fills and the overall lead that tears throughout the whole song. Love it. Great explanation on the factors going on with this song that makes it what it is.
Trying to get the chorus riff right, PITA on my Les Paul barring that 17th fret!
Thanks for watching! Love QOTSA!
I fucking love Queens, thanks man.
+RealityBreaker6 right on man! My pleasure!!
Tried to learn this yesterday, the timing of this video couldn't get any better. Well done!

One of my fave bands ever! Get to go see them this summer!
Yeah Sean, it finally came!!!
+Joaquin Carlson took long enough!
Nice tribute! I also like the tribute Josh Homme gave to The Eagles of Death Metal and the tribute that Tenacious D gave to Led Zep....is this a tribute? Great stuff!!!! I would like to see a tribute to Sean and Ian...the best improv duo of our time, you guys are the best!!!!!!!!!
Great stuff Sean! Love QOTSA! 👍

Can you do more analisys on qotsa? I really love their sound, i want to know more about their "formula" for create this amazing riff :)
Definitely more coming soon!
Yeah!!!
So awesome! Love me some QOTSA!
+Vince Bruno right on Vince!
just a note on this for the tone, a small bit less gain, a bit less reverb and a single coil guitar and it will be perfect
Another phenominal vid!
+Trever Smith thanks Trever!
I thought I was decent at guitar until you pulled out "basically a dominant 7 chord" and I had no idea what you were doing.
Could you do a deconstruction on don't think twice, it's alright? love your videos :)
+JoakimHE that would be a really good fingerpicking one. Good call
That song's been killing me :) thanks for the reply
I watched your instagram preview this morning without sound and i swear i thought it was gonna be no one knows.
Jesse Davidson it's a very similar (and awesome) riff in the way that Josh 'takes something away'. The main difference is that No One Knows is based on an Cm, not C# minor chord :)
TheBenjyMan yeah right. I never bothered to learn it because its like tuned 2 tones down
+Jesse Davidson I think I might do that one too!
he calls it chaos, i call it funkyyyy
You know it!
Ooh I've always been curious what you think of Blake Mills as a guitar player. Since you've watched some guitar moves perhaps you've seen his episode? Keep up the good work :)
+ADuckProductions I haven't but I'll check it out!!
I love how you reply to nearly all the comments! Any chance on doing more QotSA? (earned a sub btw)
Welcome to the party man! DEFINITELY more QotSA coming soon!
Best video
+J. Deiss thanks so much!
queens 😍 love that song so much. thanks!!
+Nina thanks for watching!
You should do a video about modes of the Melodic and Harmonic minor scale
+Vince Ambrogio I did one on harmonic but def need to get on the other one
Hey Sean. For the slide fills, do you have any recommendations for what intervals to target? Just stay in key? Thanks for the video! These chords remind me of the intro to 'Nothing Song' by Alice in Chains.
I'm all about 3rds and 7s.
Sean Daniel nice.
Can you do one for The Big Come Down by NIN?
That's a good one!
🗣 Hey,
So god-damn good, so fu..... nice.. ❤️🎸
Thank you for THIS (or THAT?!🤔) Killer Song❤️💀
QotSA... Is for the babies (💄💋)...
Every single song (from first to Villains) has something in it, the licks, the riffs....❤️🎸
--> Creative ( the Artwork!!!), Precious (for guitar players at home, my bedroom guitar sessions),
Ok, last but not least: thank YOU, for your time, for this video (for me, it’s so inspiring🎸✊🏼 thanks!)
Please: do more queen-analysis Videos... (and: sorry for my german-english 🤣👋)
Daniel.
More QOTSA comin soon!
Is the dominant 7 definitely sounded in the chord though?
please make a vlog .... 😁
+Mubin foREVer haha. I've thought about it...
Could you do an episode or a video on Isaac Brock's unique style? He uses scales you don't normally find in rock music and uses some kinda unorthodox techniques to carve out a little niche with his playing. Maybe a lesson on a song like Doin' the Cockroach where a lot of his very rhythmic style is on display.
Airbag + vocal pls... You know it's time dude..
+Leeroy Drayson its comkng
What do you know about the Sus 2?
+don caviness I know I'm gonna have to make a video on it!
it's always good to and pinky to the G string
+AJ yessir!
Discovering your favourite bands mostly tune down to C# is so depressing when you're guitar isn't set up solely for it. QOTSA, Alter Bridge and Black Stone Cherry all seem to use this tuning for their best stuff and my strings just end up rattling around! 😂
+Paul Lawrence I'm so with you on this!
bit late, but this song is in standard
Couldn't u like.. idk mic the amp and TURN DOWN THAT FKING REVERB??
FIX THIS PROBLEM!!! AHAHAHAHA. 🤘🤘
