My slave cilinder went out this morning. From the research I've done, replacing the slave cylinder is impossible without removing the whole clutch. Can't afford that right now, I'll see if I can do it your way!
Hello mate, sorry to hear about your slave cylinder. What model and engine have you got, if its 1.9 tdi its definitely doable without removing entire clutch.
Hi mate. There were literally no warning signs, I drove van all day, parked up at night, and next morning no gears, replaced master and slave cylinders, then had to do clutch as well. 🤙🤙🤙
Aw man, as soon as I saw the slave I thought it was suspiciously dry 😣 at least the new parts might last you a few hundred thousand miles more. Daft question but is it that you’ve got no clutch pedal resistance or just no drive to the wheels?
I'm not gonna lie I was hoping to see fluid on the piston lol. And yeah definitely, get the clutch in next and I was going to change the ancillaries anyway so nothing lost. 🤟🤟🤟
Hi there , please what model is your t4, I am trying to do my clutch pedal these days , I have a 2.5tdi, the pedal had v little pressure, last time I drove I couldn’t engage the reverse and I struggled to engage the other gears , managed to get home from the airport, I opened one of the nipples , the line that goes into the the master I believe and the pedal went totally further down. I am gonna replace both cylinders , I’d like to hear your thoughts. Thank you
Hi there. My t4 is the 1.9tdi it's had an engine swap. Sounds to me like you are experiencing the same issues I had, mine was fine and the the next morning I had no gears at all. I replaced master and slave cylinder as they were both original and due a change, unfortunately though this didn't solve my problem and I ended up having to replace the clutch. The T4 is a nightmare to bleed I'd recommend getting a power bleeding kit otherwise you'll be chasing air bubbles for days lol. Have you checked your fluid level, I would definitely start there and then it's a process of elimination my friend 🤟🤟
@@valhallavw hello mate, thanks for the reply , liquid level was very low it took almost a whole small bottle of dot4 liquid , I tried to look for brakes lines leaks but I found none , the fact that the brakes work well though I think it should exclude a problem in the brakes lines, I think I'll follow your same process , cylinders are old anyway , I just ordered a gunson eezibleed kit , will it be strong enough to bleed it ? May i ask how much did they quote for the clutch or you did it yourself, i can do the cylinders but I doubt I can tackle the clutch . Your videos are very useful by the way , I appreciate very much you taking the trouble to make these and post them . 👍
@@caputomaru hello mate. So pleased to hear you are enjoying the videos and finding them useful. I would say it's unlikely to be a brake issue if you can't find any leaks and they work properly, the power bleed is definitely a good investment, will save you loads of time and headaches lol. I was quoted between £300 and 750 for the clutch. So I did it myself. Parts were only £135. If you have access to hardstanding and a decent toolkit it's definitely achievable mate 🤟🤟

It's a 2.5tdi, I'll have to take the clutch off, the slave cylinder is indeed hidden in there it seems. Well, new clutch and flywheel it is then ;)
@rubenn.3193 yeah I'm afraid so mate. 2.5 is a bit more involved. Hope you get it sorted soon 🤙🤙
What was the problem and symptoms to lead you to fixing the clutch? Juddering or just no gear selection?

Thank you so much
