Did this job not so long ago. I was getting super annoyed as is, can't imagine the stress of filming with exceptional light quality and angle given the space. Mad props to you, made it look easy.
thank you so much man, I appreciate that. The angles were super tough, I just hoped it showed the job well enough
You might need a joint to calm yourself bro
@@obviouslytwo4u isn't that illegal?
i did the same , last year but was a 2.0 tdi and has more room to work on the engine bay , anyway the difficult part it’s fitting back the plastic clip !!!
How much another cylinder cost? Or how much everything cost you?
This was the best video for me. The steps match what I faced for the VW Eos 2007. Not all the steps are able to be photographed as the bolts are hidden away from view but the dialog is very helpful. It was tricky to get to those bolts but with perserverance we got there. The whole job took me 3 hours as it was my first time. There are other similar videos herein but this one was the best for us and solved the problem. Thank you!
Perfect expert skills to replace these rubbish plastic Master Clutch valves (They break on LOTS of Seat/VW/Audi/Skoda cars!) and lot's of good tips to make the repair go nice and smooth
Bro mine just gave out was gona do it myself but after watching this and many other vids getting the shop to do mine to much stress this job 😂 props to you bro
Great vid . Just to clarify the clutch master cylinder and clutch slave cylinder are two separate parts - master cylinder is connected directly to the clutch pedal and what is shown being replaced. The slave cylinder is a different part being connected at the other end of the clutch line directly to the gearbox. Do you have a video of the clutch bleeding process at all ?
Thanks man. I have a LHD vehicle so not all is equally applicable. I am still trying to find the nut on top, it is not in the same position as yours. Your video was a great help anyway.
Please do a reinstall video. Bleeding brakes and stuff. Love your content bro. Your really helping
Thanks good video. For bleeding the clutch i recommend using a small oil can pump with brake fluid and pumping in from the bleeder valve. Worked like a charm and pushes out the air our the reservoir as you fill the system. Make sure you have the clutch pedal pulled out. Works like a charm.
That makes sense. I know some will take a long time to bleed, this way is more effective, thanks for the tip
This is a great idea. I had trouble priming the master cylinder. This simple idea is brilliant. Next time!
Very solid man, straight forward, and to the point appreciate it!
Saved me about £250 thanks so much for making this video
Really helpful video, I have an EOS that I have to do this on but thankfully the engine bay has much more space.
Wow thank you so much for this. I can’t believe a detailed video about this actually exists.
You could have been a Surgeon mate !! Great job done.
Thank you so much. You just bailed me out! I was stuck but you guided me out of that forest. It was not necessary for me to make mistakes. Great video. Keep it up! You deserve a lot of coffee, bro.
I'm a newbie, but this video was ACE!! Subscribed and hit the bell...looking forward to seeing more from you!
Welcome aboard!
Brilliant video.. Half way through it now... Well explained and great advice with creating space! Thankyou👍😊
Just swapped out the clutch matser cylinder on my VW Touran cause all local garages were booked up for 2-3 weeks, great video just saved me 2 weeks & approx £170 theres a coffe on its way buddy
Thank you, there are such tight spaces to work in that I nearly threw the towel in. Your video helped hugely in terms of detail and motivational support!
Nightmare of a job. Thanks for sharing. I hope it is something I don't ever need to do. Regards Stephen
I followed your advice step by step and everything went smoothly. Thanks, top video.
Fair play to ya mate. That's like a surgeon replacing someone's heart while they're head is in the other room, letting their hands do the work. 😂
Great instructional video bud. Whenever I do something with the chance of a lost nut as in your video I attach a strong magnet to the extension it hold the nut or bolt magnetically into it. If that makes sense.
Thank u so much! I was having issues this was more informative even tho I'm working on a rusty 07 Jetta NY car that traveled from NY to CA lol now wait for Ebay. Respect
bro you worked a lot and filming and showing pretty all of what it's included into this operation. Thank you very much.
Thank you for appreciating the effort
Incredible skills.
Thank you.
Good day BMAC FIRSTLY THANKS FOR THE DOPE CONTENT
🇿🇦
Also, very good video, especially considering how tight everything is 👌
Great Video! you know your stuff. I enjoy your tutorial on VW
Thank you, I appreciate that.
Is it perhaps a bit more accessible from underneath the car? Mines starting to stick occasionally, and I do have access to a hoist 🤷🏻♂️
Great video, very well explained, thank you.
Glad to see your still making videos! Will you be starting a vw touran series like you have done with mk4 golf? Used to love watching them as you made alot of «unusual» videos showing many of the bugs and common fixes for these cars that is hard to find anywhere else :-) keep it up!😀
Nuff luv B thanks bro 👊🏾
Excellent vid, thank you 5*
very helpful .............many thanks for upload
Hay Bro, looking for some advice, i've watched a few of your videos on the mk4 golfs, great videos, easy to understand and follow, i have a clicking noise on my Audi A3 2.0 8v 2016, got my mk4 golf sold Friday, sad to see it go, but had to change car for the CAZ in Bristol.. thanks
HEY BOSS I LOVED YOUR VIDEOS SO INFORMATIVE AND YOU ARE GREAT TO WATCH PLEASE DON'T STOP THE CONTENT THANKS ALWAYS
Thank you so much. I trully appreciate that comment
Helpful video but getting back in is a pain, best remove the metal bar held in by 13mm bolt much easier 👍👍
Excellent video my friend ,
Excellent video. Thanks!
Has the peddle got to come out to do this or will the cylinder come off from the engine side?
Great video.shame it's not for my car🤣🤣.I can't seem to find much on MK2 Volvo v70? Hopefully some of this vid might help??Cheers😁
Very good tutorial, thanks
Got renault clio 2011 clutch pedal clicking was told its the pedal box does the dash have to come out to do it has its got a ratchet spring on the pedal thanks
This guy does this in great detail but is there any videos on this with a 1.8t engine like s3 8l , mk4 golf or leon cupra r ect cause wrong car for me😫
Just a suggestion, the white t-shirt is affecting the white balance. Great video BTW!
Great point, I didn't think of that
Getting ready to do a clutch master cylinder in a 2007 Rabbit mk5. Do you know if its the same?
Ah I remember this job I done on mk5 golf was pain in the backside to replace
I didnt enjoy this job
Thanks for the video. I also have this metal rod holding me back from removing the clutch pedal. But having very hard time to remove this metal rod, because it is way hard in my model to access its screw (vw golf 6 1.2tsi). Screws of the rods are restricted from access as it’s next to the electric sensors or something and did anybody had same problem and resolved it?
It’s not a master slave cylinder. That makes no sense. The one on the pedal is the master cylinder, the one in the gearbox is the slave cylinder, because the slave does what the master tells it to do
Great vid. Informative
Good video
@BMACVAGS how many working hours for this repair?
Is the slave cylinder on a 2012 1.6 tdi touran on the outside or inside of the gearbox? Its a 6speed transmission
I have just replaced the master and slave cylinders in my caddy, but the hydraulic line is not sealing on the new parts. Genuine VW parts with brand new seals. Do you have any clue as to why it is doing this?
how do you know its broken if you compare a new one nd old one?im scared to buy it cz on my car the brake fluid was full no sign of leak but the clutch pedal was sticking
i have what seems a working mastercylinder on the mk4 only the end of the rod little ball joint has released out the white clip. what should i do? greets
Good job. Thank you 🙏
Happened on my PD130 Bora recently
Well done lad🤗
Great video.. thank you for to the trouble
My golf Mark 5 lost all gears. The pedal isn't to the floor and the gear linkages and clutch were replaced 8 months ago. I can get the car Into Gear with the engine off and have to change gear without the clutch to limp it home. Any ideas
I haven't yet tried, but in case someone feels like answering and knows the answer.. Is this video's process applicable for my 2008 Volvo C30 1.6D?
hey there , may you show me a video of 1998 Audi a4 steering wheel rack removal please? thank you so much .
Tnx bra it's helpful
Can u do a bleed video thanks bri
Top job man
Great vids. You got a link for the electric ratchet

@@BMACVAGS yeah am in Scotland. Thanks. Keep up the good work bro
Hello mate, I have a golf 6 2010 and my clutch pedal dropped sometime and today decided to give a hard time. Just I want to know if you find to be hard to shift gears just before you decide to replace the cylinder. I don’t want to change the whole clutch kit and then to end up changing the cylinder. My flywheel been changed 50k ago. Any info will appreciate! Cheers
What do you mean gave you a hard time? For me when the master cylinder went out it got very soft and worked a few times and then went out complete where you couldn't change gears at all. If yours dropped but then can back for a while, i guess it's still possible there is a small crack or seal that has gone bad. But it could be another part of your system.
I have a 2010 golf 6 1.6 L TDI
I just replaced the clutch Kit and flywheel. started it did not start but heard a knock sound
Upon further investigation when taking the master cylinder I noticed a crack through it.
Should I buy a new master cylinder ?
@@PrettyBoiShaneD I had ended up changing the master cylinder first and whole clutch kit at the end. If you notice cracked master cylinder, it worst try as cheap version and could be fix. Mine is 2.0 tdi and slave cylinder is inside the clutch. Have to mention that. Are the most reliable cars I have so worst investment if you want to keep it.
I reused mine. I only changed out the clutch starter switch. But now it won't take pressure. The pedal will not stay up. Any ideas
How much was the slave cylinder and labour? how do you know if it's master or slave? what's the difference? I was told there is clutch or gear master? how would you know which one is gone?
Goodness, I thought the master cylinder on my LHD mk4 was a bit of a pain having to work around it's ABS pump, but the RHD access makes it look wide open in comparison.
I was envious when I saw the lhd location
Now that's better.
Thank you
Did one on a caddy.. couldn't release wire had to cut it . Was awarded to remove with the wire still attached.. even when I had it remove had to break the wire plug to release it.. nightmare job.. got it done eventually had to rejoin the wire this is not a job for the faint hearted...
Getting the fluid line back into the cylinder. What a dirty bas#@d . I lost my hair
😂
Changed the clutch on bkd and pedal is getting spongy any Ida
Tks
top class
Thank you for taking the time posting your video.
Will check if it is the master cylinder as the pedel clicks sometimes under foot. Bites about an inc up.
Been told clutch but sespect master cylinder.
Any thoughts?
What are the symptoms of a bad clutch cylinder?
I did the clutch ok but I dropped the rubber seal from the hose that goes to the brake fluid reservoir 😭 I have spent 2 hours with a touch looking for it but no idea were it has ended up! I cannot even find the exact replacement on ebay 😒..
Do you have the link for it m8
Wish I saw this video first 😪
super
Are you a mechanic full time or just a hobby
I am a jack of all trades, I do pretty much anything to do with cars.
Just replaced this but pedal still drops to the floor :/ any idea?
Have you bled the system?
@@BMACVAGS Yes! That was the problem, low clutch fluid and air in the system. Bled it with a one-way valve and it's all good now. Thanks for the video (Btw it was a nightmare doing it to a 2.0 TDi Passat)
@@grf4005ame happened today to me. How did you sort it out? After I installed new cylinder, pedal is still on the floor and has no resistance whatsoever. All seals intact on both hoses, all clipped in etc etc
Oil comes out of the slave cylinder on the gearbox and clean stream but pedal is still on the floor.
@@ivanmihanovic5443 your slave cylinder/throw out bearing has broken then. Gearbox off job for that though :( new clutch and flywheel too.
@@grf4005 it’s b7 passat 1.6 tdi so slave is on top of the gearbox. Will try it first before release bearing
Anyone remember when VW were reliable?
How to bleed ?!!?
I am sure a left hand drive car would be easier to do.
wow...that's why I'll never buy a small VW, there is no space to work in the engine bay, unless one remove half an engine!
I’ve got MK5 2.0tdi on 140k and slowly the pedal started to get stuck down.. last month had new clutch and dmf and every day is getting worse and worse
U think it could be master
shame you didnt show how to bleed it.
Shit job. Did this on a Touran. Terrible to work on and all plates are plastic!
£70 labour
Your video is terable bla bla end stop to half
