Man, I love this. I'm using one of those 4-cubby cube organizers to hold my 3 consoles, and it's not half as easy to cable manage compared to those nice nooks on the cart. This was a really good idea and it turned out great!
I know this is a year old but I appreciate this video. I am going to rebuild my retro gaming collection and I needed something small for my consoles. I have plenty of room for shelving, but it's not ideal for having it's own dedicated console area. I never thought to use a cart like this before (I'm new to collecting) I'm going to get maybe 2 of these in the future and fit every console I need on them. this is actually perfect for what I need.
Thanks for sharing this video! I'm literally in the same situation, living in SF Bay Area renting usually means being in a small space and having to get creative. Also, I've recently gotten a Sony Trinitron 1995 Model 24" and it's a game changer for my Retro gaming setup, I was using a 10" Toshiba CRT prior
I feel you man. I’m down the highway in Santa Cruz and since work from home started I had to shove my retro setup in the corner to make room for a home office. This setup is a great idea and I’m definitely going to give it a try!
Love this idea. I got nearly all my consoles hooked up on my Sony Trinitron, i got consoles everywhere in my room. Bulding a cart like this will help me a lot with gaining more space.
I absolutely adore how you go about making these videos and your general aesthetic. So many good ideas and great execution, glad to have stumbled upon you a bit ago
I’ve been slowly reclaiming the games and consoles that captured my childhood. I Held on to a few but my older brother has the majority of it since they are his after all lol. I’ve just been running out of room and came looking for ideas on a set up and how others have multiple consoles to one monitor. This blew me away. This is definitely in my list of things to do very soon.
I have 5 bins with retro things as well. I use bubble wrap or old t-shirts to create layers in the bin and also acts as cushion protecting my items and what is underneath from scuff and scratches.
I'm continually astonished that you're not one of the biggest retro gaming channels on YT. Your videos are so well done. I have plenty of room for my gaming setup but this is so well done it makes me want to build one!
I managed to snag a Sony PVM 14N2U, one of the best purchases I ever made. The possibilities of composite, s video, component/rgb is on this amazing screen makes me wanna make a mobile station for it.
I built a cart dedicated to my Atari 800. I wanted to hook it up to my big screen living room TV, but keep it out of the way for company. It has worked great. I've used the big brothers of your cart for organizing my garage for the last 20 years, and they have been awesome. I might have to upgrade my setup to accommodate more consoles. That said, I love my Gamecube. It is so small that I can just leave it out and no one notices.
I love everything, but, if this was me, I stain the wood a dark Grey black as a tiny design preference. You rock, your video is awesome, game on Tito! We need more.
I recently made a "retro av cart" in a similar way for my MiSTer with my 27" trinitron crt, and cambridge soundworks 2.1 speaker system with a powered sub woofer. It's perfect.
This is a fantastic solution that I'm surprised I didn't think of doing with my retro consoles before. Definitely going on the backlog of DIY projects. Thanks for the video, dude!
Dude, you have this amazing Pioneer Laser Active thing going on, a consolized MVS, all this wireless 8bitdo controllers, a fricking PVM and... you plug them all using composite! Herecy! Nah, just kidding. Top stuff as always. Loved the amp and surround speaker setup in your living room. Would def love watching some AV content in your channel. Keep them coming.
You are my hero, bro! The part about controller management, it's best part. Anyone can make this, it's cheaper and looks better than put on the box. Thanks!
Wow what a brilliant idea, i never would of considered making an AV Cart for my retro consoles, that would seriously cut down on the set up clutter of my main set-up
This is a great idea, thanks for sharing it! I am about to move to a smaller space and I've been wondering where to put my CRT. Clearly the answer is everywhere! I'm going to keep this cart in mind. It could be the perfect solution.
This video couldn't have come at a better time! I'm about to move and have been trying to figure out how I'm going to go about setting up my retro consoles. This setup with a gscart switcher and an OSSC so I can play on a CRT and a 4K TV would be perfect. Thanks for another great vid Tito!
This is really cool! I would love this for my room as it's really small lol. One adjustment you could make to the AV Cart is to put the thick bunch of cables running in the back into a cable sleeve (cheap on amazon in many colors), instead of a couple Velcro ties. It would clean up the overall cable mess and would tie everything together! Excited to make one of my own someday!
I love this, I'm absolutely going to be building one of these myself! In terms of the CRT, I just picked up a Sony KV20FS100 with component video input that looks BEAUTIFUL with 240p content. You can use HD Retrovision component cables or a GBS control to connect RGB scart to the component video.
Such a cool idea.. funny how coming from the the Netherlands we too had the tv on cart phenomenan 😂 It’s very uncommon to find a game set up video without ikea shelves and led strips.
Man, would love to have one of those small PVMs. Even for someone like me with space in a house I love the idea of this compact, moveable cart to tuck away in a corner while not in use.
What a weird ep, I love it! I was just looking into a wooden, non-portable way to set up my own stored composite cable systems, love the cable management you did!
Great setup. The cart is attractive and seems perfect for its intended purpose. I opted to place my setup in our entertainment center's glass cabinet including a small PVM and a switch connected to our primary large CRT. I love having things on display, but I might like a more sophisticated switch to change between the main TV and the small CRT. If they're not ready to play, they never get played with by me.
That was an excellent DIY project, made me feel like I need to make one of these for myself. On a different note, two things surprised me here, the pc engine controller on the canvas organizer when there's no variation of that console in the shelves and the fact that your using your consoles with composite connecions. Bob would be sad (jk).
He said about upgrading it, he might think to upgrade everything to RGB too. It should still be viable with this solution, even if RGB SCART cables can be a little bulkier. Now, imagine he manages to add a soundbar too. It would be even cooler.
I'm building one of these with a few changes. I'll use a VGA CRT monitor, a retrotink, and a HDMI--> VGA adaptor. The retrotink is a good addition to this setup for a few reasons 1. If you don't have a PVM, the best way to get that picture quality on a small screen is a VGA monitor, and you need retrotink to play most consoles. 2. The retrotink will always be on the cart, which makes it easy to plug any of these consoles up to an large HDTV through the retrotink. Just roll the cart next to your existing TV! Anyway, love the setup. Would love to see what / if you've changed on it since you built it.
VGA monitors are way more difficult to find. If I follow classifieds for 1 week, I see roughly 20 PVM's coming to sale, all way overprices, roughly 20 decent consumer sets, 5 of which are really dope looking design classics for 1/5th the price of a PVM, and basically 1 beaten up overpriced VGA CRT for PCs.
For my purposes I might go with a wider cart that is also slightly deeper because I'd want to put more consoles on it. And I would have an LCD HDTV on a swing arm, being careful not to swing it backwards and throw off the center of gravity. Larger casters are a must.
I'm really inspired by this video! Might have to try and put together something myself! In terms of PVMs to maybe look for, if you're still planning on using just composite and don't want to spend a ton of money, the Sony PVM 14N5U/14N1U are probably some of the more affordable ones. I have the 14N5U myself and frankly I've been wanting to get a bit more use out of it, so it might work perfectly for a setup like this!
I just found your channel last night, and I've gone through a ton of your videos! They're fantastic and it's been great to see a bunch of interesting builds. I love the production value you put into these things, but one tiny thing stands out to me that could be improved a bit. The intro music is often way louder than anything else in the video. If you could cut the volume in that intro music down to like 70% of current volume that'd help balance the video out. Again, love the content, and I'm stoked to see more!
This was SO satisfying to watch haha! Love the organization and the practical features you added to this setup. This makes me want to buy retro just to have a setup like this! Not sure if I have the money for it though hahaha. Keep it up, Tito!
And here I was building a whole entertainment center to better organize my own gaming setup 😁 Seriously though, your AV cart looks pretty handy! I wish I had one when I was younger
I'll have to try that myself! I have a 14" PVM with component in and monitor out as well as a 36" Trinitron with component input, so a gcomp would be of great use with this idea!
Funny enough, I had the same idea. However, I ended up finding alternative method of keeping the crt on my computer desk. However this is now a 1 console per desk setup. So any consoles can be stored back away in their organized box, when not in use. Now i can kick my feet up and play some consoles like Im in a work breakroom.
If you’re looking for a decent mid size PVM and so far are only utilizing S-Video, and composite I’d suggest something like a JVC TM-A13SU. They’re not crazy expensive like their Sony cousins and have great 480i output for consoles like PS2 and GameCube.
That's a very nice AV rack. For people on a budget, I can recommend a PVM 1442QM. It has 600 lines, can do RGB, s-video and composite. But ... for certain screen adjustments, you need to open it up. I see sold listings ranging from "only" €300 to €350, compared to €1000 and more that people bid for a 14L5.
Man this is a sick idea. I’m starting to collect quite a few consoles of my own so this may be of use to me. Also I saw Gris on your ps4, it’s such a beautiful game I’m glad it’s getting recognition
I'm doing something similar, just not on a cart, for 6th gen consoles! I have a nice CRT, Dreamcast, PS2, Gamecube, and Xbox, as well as my GBA SP for good measure (which matches my silver Gamecube. Maybe one day I'll get a GB Player). It will also be hooked up to a retro(ish) sound system along with my record player!

I also intend to use IKEA Billy bookcases to store games, DVDs and CDs. I'll upload a video to my channel once it's completed properly.

Thanks dude! Glad you enjoyed this! Cable management was very easy with the wire shelves. Cheers!
You showed that LaserActive like five times and none of the shots were of it in the trash. Bravo.

Te veo desde España, tu contenido es genial!. Mucha suerte con el canal
No ps2 or ps3 is a travesty

I feel you man. I’m down the highway in Santa Cruz and since work from home started I had to shove my retro setup in the corner to make room for a home office. This setup is a great idea and I’m definitely going to give it a try!
Ive got the same PVM. Love it
Nothing beats that feeling of having all your consoles hooked up. So many crippling possibilities!
Totally agree! It’s a fantastic feeling!
Production value is incredible as always, can't believe you don't have a million subscribers already.
Thank you so much Baptiste! Really appreciate it buddy! Cheers!
Dang Tito, your apartment looks mint. You’ve got great taste!
Thank you! So glad you’re enjoying the channel 😁
Already have one. It's the bigger one and houses all of my consoles from 8bit up to current gen. It's super convenient and stores away in my closet.
I’ve been slowly reclaiming the games and consoles that captured my childhood. I Held on to a few but my older brother has the majority of it since they are his after all lol. I’ve just been running out of room and came looking for ideas on a set up and how others have multiple consoles to one monitor. This blew me away. Don't know how I missed this, but you just blew my mind dude. Absolutely briliant.
3DO! Omg. Cannot believe you are still having and playing it. One of the most expensive console I had when I was a kid.
I have 5 bins with retro things as well. I use bubble wrap or old t-shirts to create layers in the bin and also acts as cushion protecting my items and what is underneath from scuff and scratches.
That’s a good idea! Thanks!
What are the measurements for the wired cart and where can I find the wooden board. This is totally awesome.
I love this, super cute! Like a lunch-lady cafeteria cart for gaming.
I'm continually astonished that you're not one of the biggest retro gaming channels on YT. Your videos are so well done. I have plenty of room for my gaming setup but this is so well done it makes me want to build one!
Thank you Matt! That really means a lot! So glad you’re enjoying the videos!

Oh what a great idea, wish I had thought of this before.
All my stuff is stored away inconveniently in a closet too.
Will build one too.
You're quickly becoming one of my favorite youtubers! Brilliant design man! Can you do another episode for someone like me with a ton of consoles 20+?
Thank you Cameron! Haha, that would be the ultimate av cart!
I love everything, but, if this was me, I stain the wood a dark Grey black as a tiny design preference. You rock, your video is awesome, game on Tito! We need more.

I’m having a similar issue with space. This is actually super handy
This is an awsome idea. I have a PS2 and PS3 id live to build something like this for.
Awesome idea and information. I might just use this idea to store and play my vinyl records. So many applications!
This is a fantastic solution that I'm surprised I didn't think of doing with my retro consoles before. Definitely going on the backlog of DIY projects. Thanks for the video, dude!

I built one a few months back for my computer tower and devices. Also grabbed a small one for my devices on top of my desk.
I have like 3 retro PCs. This will be PERFECT for them! Thank you!!!
Nice!
You are my hero, bro!
The part about controller management, it's best part. Anyone can make this, it's cheaper and looks better than put on the box.

You’re very welcome Trevor! It’s a fantastic option, I’m really loving how it came out
Wow what a brilliant idea, i never would of considered making an AV Cart for my retro consoles, that would seriously cut down on the set up clutter of my main set-up
Genius. Btw I love that Sony monitor
That transition from your studio to your living room was sick 🤙
genuinely good idea
Oh cool, you found one... I'm soooo jealous of your NOS laseractive pac....
That's awesome. Need to free up some space myself, so perfect timing Tito!
Sweet intro man. Loved it.
That is fantastic! I wish I had a PVM but this still might be an excellent project for my retro consoles and portable monitor.
This is a great idea, thanks for sharing it! I am about to move to a smaller space and I've been wondering where to put my CRT. Clearly the answer is everywhere! I'm going to keep this cart in mind. It could be the perfect solution.

There is a Turbo Graphics add on for the laser active :P
@@Meerlu That's cool! I didn't know that, thanks for sharing. :)
Using Composite connections on a CRT, or a PVM, is actually a fantastic way to play games. It’s only composite on a flat panel that sucks.

Having mobile game rack with caster is very nice idea. Great!
Thanks! I love it! Def gonna get a lot of use out of it! Cheers!
The Mini Pvm really is the cherry on top of the video game sundae. PVMs already have a higher quality compared to other regular crts.
Great project, I have the same problem and like this solution.
this is exactly what I need!!
Wow I definitely need to make one of these
Very clever, you're giving me ideas XD. cheers Tito!

Thanks Brian! I’m loving it so far!
I'll have to try that myself! I have a 14" PVM with component in and monitor out as well as a 36" Trinitron with component input, so a gcomp would be of great use with this idea!

You are so inventive and creative man. I love this AV crash cart for retro games! Keep up the great content.
Thanks dude!
pretty genius move
great video
This is a gorgeous set up well done. I have a big metal shelf that I hope to do something similar.
If you’re looking for a decent mid size PVM and so far are only utilizing S-Video, and composite I’d suggest something like a JVC TM-A13SU. They’re not crazy expensive like their Sony cousins and have great 480i output for consoles like PS2 and GameCube.
Nice! Thank you for the recommendation!

Thanks Kevin! Glad you like it! It’s working great so far!
Awesome video! This is what i needed all the time

Nice set up 👍
Really nice setup.
Thank you!
Neat idea Tito! 🤘😎
I too have limited space. I have a wardrobe next to the chimney breast, in which I took the doors off, added two 2x2 IKEA Kallax units (one is wall mounted at the top and the other is floor standing with wall support) and a TV mount for my 28" TFT. I also intend to use IKEA Billy bookcases to store games, DVDs and CDs.
I'll upload a video to my channel once it's completed properly.
